Suspicious Reyes [2]

The room was indeed dark but there was a spotlight directly flashed towards Jodan. it had an intense yellowish aura. The pitiful face of Jodan was seen clearly because of it. No matter how I look he appeared like an innocent teenager to me. I know it's entirely unreasonable. A monster can't even smile. I wonder if they can feel happiness or something like that. Before long I have gazed at him for over ten minutes or long since I entered the cell. He didn't avert his eyes from the floor not even once. It looked as if I don't exist.

"A-Ahem," I tried to clear my throat but it was just an excuse to draw his attention. However, he didn't budge to look up. His downcasted glazes were filled with agony and I could see it. He appeared very much human to me.

"Why don't you say the truth? Lying wouldn't get you anywhere." I tried to convince him with maintaining a protective posture. It was because I don't have any weapon on hand. A human with no arms can't live for a second if the monster got out. To be honest, I was scared. This is my first time entering this cell without Mr.Lukas.

"Lie… To you, it might be a lie…" He said silently. I could feel his heavy breath coming out.

"The truth you are trying to say is baseless. There is no evidence to prove it's right." He would utter the same thing again and again and both I and Mr. Lukas are fade up. Even if Jodan is telling the truth there's no way he can prove it. He named a doctor that wasn't even a doctor, to begin with.

"The world is a lie. Even if I put everything on the table to prove that what I'm saying is right, would you believe it?"

"Probably if you could find a match with our database."

"The correct answer is 'NO' no matter how much I try, you people gonna let him chained here. Do you know why?" Jodan stopped at once as if he wanted me to answer that. I was puzzled for a moment but then again. "B-Because you're a monster?" I spoke the truth only. Jodan nodded as he was having a hard time talking. "I never choose the system, Reyes."

Huh? How did he know my name? Probably when Mr. Lukas was giving me orders he gasped it. Pretty quick-witted. "If I knew that diary could lead me to here, I would never touch it. The extraggation pain that my heartfelt was indeed dark and scary. "

"I don't want to hear your story. I have just one question." It's the moment I was waiting for. I agreed on coming to this cell along was to ask this question. It made me so curious that I wasn't able to concentrate on any other thing than thinking about it.

"Why did you save the child?" A monster can't feel emotion so they can be labeled as selfish people. But that day, Jodan saved a child before getting caught. If only he didn't save that child, he wouldn't be here suffering. Why was it? What made him do such a suicidal act? I can't find an answer to that. After trying to find a reasonable answer for three days, I have given up and intended to ask him simply.

"It's simple. I didn't cast my humanity. I may be one of them but I have some characteristics of humans " he said while grinning. Was he making fun of me anyway? I was not pleased at all.

"That's hardly possible," I said while looking straight at his eyes. His Dow glazes didn't hit me back.

"You don't believe me? Well, that's natural. I can't just introduce myself as a half-human half-monster person. People would throw eggs at me." Is this a comedy show? Then why he's enjoying it so much. Now, I have to say my technically analyzed one.

"Let me take your saving the child as an act. Then you used the act to get yourself caught."

"Do you really think I would get myself caught?"

"Well, that's true. Than ….." I got into my thoughts. What could be? Would it be because of his humanity? Let's run that possibility. What could a normal human being do? He would risk his life to save the child. Fortunately, Jodan did the same. That's a really complicated subject.

"Reyes, you people will always hate me for being a monster. I didn't want to be a monster. It's not my fault, to begin with." He said with a flood of emotions. I couldn't identify if it's real or fake. "You're different Reyes. You're still in a conflict between who am I. Am I a human like you or just a pathetic monster? You're not convinced where others have already reached the conclusion and labeled me a higher leveled monster."

Did he just read my mind? Well, it doesn't matter to me. Indeed, I'm not sure whether or not to believe him as a human or other beings. However, I'm convinced that he is a monster to a certain point. I got up from the chair and was on my way out. The stinking scent of dried blood was making my head spin. It was an intensely disgusting scent. The last thing I heard coming out from Jodan's mouth was, "Don't think like a fool."

After getting out I locked the cell tightly with the key card. What the hell did he think?! I'm a fool? Are that son of a b---

"Reyes" hearing my name out of the blue was enough to freak me.

"Ms. Clara? Shouldn't you be observing Jodan in the next room?"

"Yeah, I just came here to see how you're feeling. "

"How am I feeling? I'm not a child!"

"Oh, why so serious? Calm down first."

"I'm leaving now. I need some fresh air. Tell Mr. Lukas that I came."

"Okay." After that, I went to get some peace of mind.
