Ch 10: Rejection is dreadful

Romeo opened his office's door and waited for Karenina to get inside, however she took her pleasant time to walk inside.

"What do you need from me?"She straightforwardly asked him while playing with her hair strands.

He sat down on his chair and called her to his desk. Karenina raised her hand to brush off her lingering hair behind her ear as she asked in a flirtatious tone,"are you going to show me something?"

She received no further response from him except an indifferent look. Twitching her lips in irritation, she walks toward his desk and gets perplexed by the attendance register of her class.

"I have received tons of complaints about you," he began as he turned the pages of the register. "You have been skipping other Professor's classes and bunking sports periods."

"May I know what's the problem, Dame Karenina?"

She noticed the flicker of red flare in his ocean blue eyes as he proceeded to interrogate her further. For the first time she felt the cold chills running down her veins. She opened her mouth to answer, however her voice stuck in her throat.

"I'm expecting an explanation," he said, more like an impatient growl.

Karenina fidgeted, nervously intertwining her slender fingers. Her eyes are fixed on her feet, unblinking as she struggles to speak. But holy Maiden, she couldn't feel her voice. What was the problem? She panicked, folding her lips into her mouth as fragile tears crawled out of her eyes.

"Unbelievable," she heard Romeo spelling out an annoyed word for her. "You are unbelievable Karenina, now I understand why your parents wanted to discipline you here."

She flinched, not sure where it went wrong. She thought Romeo was being considerate of her for these few days, that he would never get angry or raise his voice on her. She almost believed that he acknowledged her as his mate but all just shattered like pieces of glass.

Then why did he blushed when our eyes used to meet in the class? Why would he awkwardly turn his face away from me… if it was not acknowledgement than what was it? Karenina's mind got consumed with all the disturbing thoughts until she felt a cold grip on her shoulders.

Her eyes sweeped up and saw the precarious cold face of Romeo… The image of a calm and composed Romeo shuddered in her mind, because the man standing in front of her was nowhere to be described as High Priest.

'B-Bow down… respect him… submit to him,' Karenina's wolf murmured in her subconscious mind, causing her legs to tremble. She became speechless when she heard her wolf chanting the submission songs. In her 18 years of glorious life, Karenina has never submitted to anyone except her father.

Her notorious wolf, responsible for Karenina's rude and unforgiving personality never ever acknowledged any male as her equal was now quivering in terror.

"Such ignorance! Must you test my patience?"She heard Romeo's irritable depressed voice as his grip on her shoulders tightened, and new tears began to flow down her cheeks.

"I-I'm sorry…"

"Again sorry?" His harsh words engrossed her more into sobbing. "I shouldn't have gone easy on you when your father asked me to discipline you strictly. Now see what I have made you become!"

Karenina couldn't take it anymore, she fell down on her knees and covered her sobbing face. It was both a saddening and embarrassing situation for her… sad because her efforts into seducing him brutally failed. Embarrassing because she had submitted in front of him.

'He hates me now,' her wolf whimpered, making Karenina ugly cry, embarrassing herself further in front of her fateful mate.

Now she realised how it feels to confront fateful mates. Everything becomes uncontrollable and helpless when the mate gets angry with their other half. Karenina apprehended and felt relatable with Helene's painful relationship with Ivaan.

She couldn't imagine how the rejection would feel… will she be able to endure the pain and shame of being rejected by a mate? Her young mind became too scared to even think about it.

Lowering her head, she mumbled,"Father, I'm deeply sorry for my mistakes. Please don't expel me from the college."

She heard no answer, instead she saw him crouching down, just in front of her and titled her face up with the support of his thumb under her chin.

Staring quietly in her tearful eyes, he frowned and said,"since when did you start wetting your eyes? I heard from Dante that his daughter never shed a drop of tear no matter how sorrowful the situation is."

"He lied to you," Karenina answered instinctively, her hatred for her parents engraved in her heart.

And how laughable was it!Father and mother never knew that Karenina was always crying to herself when wronged and excused for something she never did. And they never tried to understand the loneliness of their daughter…

When everyone was busy finding their destined mates, fifteen years old Karenina was isolated in the deserted city of rogue wolves. That was her first test battle as heir of Ace Moon pack and her father, Alpha Dante was the one who ordered her to be sent there to fight those dreadful rogues.

If she failed and was caught, those rogues would have crushed her body and r@ped her. Despite that she survived and killed every single rogue in that deserted city, and returned 2 years later with victory.

However she was not welcomed by her mother who felt like her daughter had changed… like what was she expecting from the daughter who has spent her two years in hell with the immoral rogues.

"Father just needs a strong heir to succeed his throne of Alpha," Karenina's voice palpitating, as she tried hard to suppress her overwhelming remorse. "And my mother just hates me because I'm not weak like her… she's just jealous that I was born with Alpha blood instead of her omega instinct…"

"You shouldn't talk like this about your mother," Romeo interrupted her. "No matter how harsh she is with you, you should never disrespect–"

"Oh please, spare me from the lecture of good being," she said, stopping him in the middle. "You never experienced what I did. So better keep your thoughts to yourself instead of trying to make me understand."

She smacks his hand from her chin and crawling backwards, she distanced herself from him. " I'll not bunk anymore classes, rest assured."

"Hm," Romeo sighed as he got up and looked down at her with a tense face, he said,"the weekend will start from tomorrow, all the students are returning to their respective packs. Where are you going?"

"NOWHERE."

What are your thoughts about FL's past? And yep her hormones are acting up!
