Chapter 4 - Victory Dinner

"What?! There was a party and you didn't think to invite me?" Bella exclaimed glaring at Angie, Josh and me.

I rolled my eyes "even if I did invite you, you wouldn't have been able to come, remember?".

"You knew how much I was looking forward to the high school parties and you went to the first one without me" Bella said pouting. I did feel bad, despite how much she begged me to go with her to a party when high school started I had kept rejecting her. And now I had gone to one and she hadn't.

"I know, I'm sorry" I said giving her puppy eyes "I'll do anything".

"Really?" She said smiling mischievously "then you have to go to one with me! No excuses".

I groaned, I should've known. I did enjoy the party at my house, but that was mainly because it was in the comforts of my own home. I wasn't sure how to feel about going to one at a person who I didn't even know's house.

Angie also looked at me hopefully.

"Finee" I said sighing, it was just one time. Angie and Bella looked at each other and grinned in victory.

I walked home, thinking about what to do about soccer. While I did appreciate the offer, I had already decided not to continue soccer in high school.

I wasn't a natural at it like my brother and I didn't want to be accepted into the team just for being Zach's sister. I would have to turn Kai down the next time I saw him.

I opened the door to my house finding that it was oddly quiet. My dad had already came back home yesterday night but had to go back to work first thing this morning.

I played some Taylor Swift music in the background as I got started on my pile of homework.

It had been around an hour spent trying to focus on my work.

I suddenly got a call and grabbed my phone quickly, wanting any excuse to procrastinate.

I picked it up, "hellooo" I said.

"Hey girl!" Angie brightly chirped from the other end "what are you doing today?"

I sighed "homework" I said painfully.

"Boring, if you're talking about science we still have weeks till that's due" she said "leave that behind and come with me to the soccer game today!"

I had completely forgotten about the game and now it made sense why my brother wasn't home.

"Sure!" I said, I hadn't seen my brother play an official match in a while and a teeny part of me wanted to see Kai play.

I walked around the bleachers trying to find Angie and Bella, the wind was blowing hard and there were surprisingly a lot of people.

Bella waved over to me and I climbed up the bleacher stairs and sat beside them. It was getting kind of chilly and I began to shiver.

I was wearing a red off the shoulders shirt, to match our school's theme colours, as well as jean shorts. My hair was pulled up into a high ponytail.

Angie was wearing a soccer jersey, presumably Josh's old one as it matched his number, and she was holding a sign saying "Go Grey Wolves". I smiled, she seemed to be a supportive girlfriend.

The referee blew the whistle and the match started, Zach started with the ball and swiftly passed it over to a midfielder. The ball was stolen by the opposing team and I saw Kai running extremely fast towards the ball.

Zach had positioned himself near the net, Zach's one flaw when it came to soccer was that he had trouble trusting his teammates. He tended to run towards the ball even if there were people already on it. So it was amazing to see him standing still, having faith in Kai.

Kai was in front of the opponent, he kicked his leg right and the opposing member switched the ball to the other side, getting ready to kick. In that moment when he brought his leg back, Kai smoothly switched directions and kicked the ball with full force towards Zach.

With no hesitation, Zach kicked the ball towards the goal. A feint, I thought astonished. It wasn't like a feint was that difficult to do however Kai did it with expertise like he had done it a million times before.

It was odd to explain, it seemed like he had thoroughly planned it out rather than just going with the flow.

People cheered and Zach high fived Kai.

There was only a minute left in the game, the grey wolves were winning by a huge lead.

I looked on as the opponent hit a ball straight into the net, just to have it bounce off Elias' head. He grabbed it and looked angry, he was about to throw it back at the innocent striker, who had begun to look very pale, when the referee blew the whistle signalling the end of the game, giving Elias a pointed look while he was at it.

It was really beyond me who had decided to make Elias a goalie, he seemed to be helping the other team more with how many penalty points he had gotten.

I had also discovered that calling Angie a supportive girlfriend was a major understatement, both Bella and I had been really surprised to see her standing up and yelling like a drill surgeon every time Josh had gotten the ball.

I was still in a daze after that match, why did Kai say he wasn't good? From what I could tell he was just as good as my brother, if not better than him in some aspects.

I followed Angie and Bella down to the field, Angie went and kissed Josh while Bella and I stood awkwardly behind her.

"Hey!" Carlos said walking up to me "how'd you like my skills?" he asked.

"Were you playing? Weird, I didn't notice you" I said teasingly.

Carlos rolled his eyes "ha ha very funny" he noticed Bella and they introduced themselves to each other. "You guys should come to the after-party" he said.

"Hey stop hitting on my sister" Zach said ruffling Carlos' hair. Carlos was a second year but he was still fairly tall, almost reaching Zach's height.

"I'm not" Carlos said scrunching his face in disgust, I scrunched up my face as well and Zach laughed.

"Rest in peace Carlos" Elias said sadly.

"Hey! Don't kill me off yet!" Carlos exclaimed.

"I think you should be worrying about yourself first" Zach said narrowing his eyes at Elias. Elias' eyes widened and he ran away screaming 'no'.

Kai walked up to Zach, "the reservation starts right now" he said glancing at us and Zach nodded.

Bella and I looked at each other, if they reserved it they wouldn't have enough seats for us.

"Wait reservation? Bella and I can just join another ti-"

"I reserved the whole restaurant" Kai said nonchalantly. I stopped my words mid-sentence, and my jaw dropped. Zach rolled his eyes at me and walked away with Kai to the parking lot.

Kai really wasn't joking when he said that he reserved the whole place, the only people there were members of the soccer team as well as friends and significant others. Apparently it was a ritual to celebrate the first win of the season with an after-party for good luck.

Zach himself had a girl on his lap sucking his face off, I internally vomited and quickly looked away.

Angie and Bella were on both sides of me with Carlos and Josh in front of us. We were all laughing watching Carlos stuff his face.

"You guys will want to eat up fast too" Josh said shoving a meat ball in his mouth.

Angie, Bella and I looked at each other in confusion and shrugged complying. I noticed that everyone else had begun to pick up the pace too, even more surprising was that the girl on Zach's lap had finally stopped eating his face and started eating proper food instead.

Kai wiped his mouth promptly and got up.

"No fair!" Zach called at him as Kai began to walk to the entrance.

Kai looked back and smirked at him "let's not forget who's paying" he said opening the door and leaving.

"Booooo" Eli said sticking his tongue out "you're so boring".

I took a bite out of pizza, still confused as to what was going on when suddenly I heard a high pitched scream. I whipped my head in the direction of the sound to find Eli, standing up with pizza on his shirt. I looked in front of him to see Zach laughing loudly with pizza sauce on his hands.

"FOOD FIGHT"
