Chapter 1 - A Stalker?!

I checked the mirror for one last time. My brown hair was softly curled and I had a pair of ripped jeans on with a crop top.

I grabbed my phone and bag as I headed downstairs. My breakfast was on the table, fresh pancakes with cream and syrup, yum.

I hurriedly shoved the food in my mouth, Bella would be mad at me if I wasn't on time.

The doorbell rang and I quickly swallowed the water and ran out with my bag. I smiled as I saw my best friend, Bella Medley.

"Saph! Quick we're going to be late!" she called. I got into the back seat and sighed in relief as I looked at my phone. She was so dramatic, we had 20 minutes until the bell rang.

Charles, Bella's older brother by 3 years, and also a senior at school, turned to me and smiled while rolling his eyes at Bella's words. I smiled back at him and he reversed out of the driveway, heading towards the school.

"I'm so excited" Bella squealed.

"You're excited for school?!" I stared at her in disgust.

Bella scrunched up her face at me, "no, I'm excited for high school. It's going to be so different" she said with a dreamy face. I didn't understand Bella's obsession with high school, in the end it was all the same, a prison I was locked in for 7 hours a day.

Charles parked the car in the school parking lot and we all got out, I stared in amazement seeing the school up close for the first time. It was huge, there were at least three floors and students were piling in. There was more diversity than I had every seen, and a group for every type of person.

Bella grinned and tugged at my arm, "come on we only have 15 minutes left".

While it seemed nice how huge it was, it soon proved to be a problem.

Bella was right, we really should've came earlier. The halls were almost empty and there was only five minutes left but we still hadn't found our classrooms.

Bella pointed to the tall man walking in front of us. His hair was a dark brown, closer to black than brown, and it was short and wavy on top of his head. "He looks like a senior, let's go ask him for directions" she said. I nodded and we speed walked to him.

He turned and glanced at us. I froze momentarily, his eyes were a unique shade of grey and his skin was lightly tanned. His jaw flexed and I couldn't tear my eyes away. He stared at us, waiting for someone to speak.

"U-um" I stuttered "we're lost". I internally groaned at how pathetic I was acting.

He looked amused for a second and then his face went back to the stoic look it had before. "What classes do you have?" he said glancing at his watch.

We showed him our timetables and I noticed him raise his eyebrows slightly. He pointed us in the direction and we thanked him and speed walked to our classes.

My first class ended and I followed Angie, a girl I had met, to the gym for our next class. We took our bags inside the change room and changed into the gym uniform, which was just a red shirt with the school logo and biker shorts. I tied the laces on my Nike sneakers and checked to make sure my ponytail wasn't loose.

We both walked out of the change room and into the huge gym. It was lined with bleachers on one end and and there was a huge area with basketball nets hanging from the ceiling. I noticed what looked like senior boys on one side of the room and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"Wasn't this course a female only gym course?" I asked.

Angie laughed "half of the side is for our class and the other side is for another gym class". I glanced back at them again and my eyes widened as I saw the same guy that helped Bella and I in the morning. He was wearing a matching red shirt with loose black shorts, they started doing laps around the gym while we sat down and waited for our teacher. Even with the shirt on it was clear to tell that he was very muscular.

The teacher arrived and we all got up and did some stretches with her.

"Starting tomorrow before I arrive I want all of you to run laps around the gym with the other class, for now you'll only be doing 5 but after some time I'll start increasing the number. Today we'll be starting the volleyball unit" she said and then called some student volunteers to help take out the nets and balls.

Angie and I partnered up and started hitting volleyballs to each other. I turned my head to look back at the boys class and saw the guy from earlier turn his head suddenly in the other direction. They were all sitting down listening to the teacher's instructions.

I turned back too late and I felt an immense pain on my forehead in which the ball bounced back from. I heard a bunch of laughter from the boys class and I turned red as Angie started apologizing.

The lunch bell rang and Angie and I finished changing. "Does your forehead still hurt? I am so sorry about that"

"No worries, it was my fault for not paying attention" I said, shoving my clothes in my bag.

"Daydreaming about boys, huh?" she smirked "which one was it?"

I blushed "none of them, I was just looking to see what they were doing"

"Okayyyy" she said looking unconvinced. We walked towards the cafeteria and I saw Bella sitting at a table. I waved and sat down with Angie, introducing the two.

We made small talk about our classes and started eating lunch.

Charles dropped me off at home again, and I waved to him and Bella as I got in my house. It was just the first day of school but I was already wishing for summer break to come.

I took a nice bubble bath with a strawberry scent and shampooed my hair. I got out of the shower and rubbed some strawberry lotion on myself and tied my wet hair into a bun. I put on a baby blue cropped sweater and some matching soft shorts. I ran downstairs to get some snacks and bumped into something hard.

"Ouch" I said, rubbing my forehead. I felt annoyed at whatever I bumped into so I looked up glaring. My jaw dropped and my eyes widened as I saw the same man I kept seeing all day.

I opened my mouth to scream and he quickly covered my mouth with his hand, looking surprised. I began to flail around and knocked down the sandwich in his other hand.

"Shit!" he said letting go of my mouth and picking up the sandwich.

"That's not all you're going to be saying after I call the cops on your ass" I angrily said grabbing my phone out of my back pocket "My brother will be here any minute now and he will not hesitate to mess up your face, stalker!"

He narrowed his eyes at me, "your brother is the one that invited me here"

"Stop lying! He doesn't have any friends like you" I shrieked. Zach always had soccer practice after school and was rarely home to begin with.

I recalled my dad telling me about a robber appearing near our neighbourhood earlier in the week.

"What's going on here?!" we both turned to look at my brother, Zach, standing by the door looking at the mess on the ground.

"T-this man-" I said glancing back at the guy

"You mean Kai?" he asked looking confused. My face went pale.

"You know him?" I asked, I looked at Kai and he was staring back at me smugly.

"Yea, he's my best friend. Why is the sandwich on the ground?" Zach asked.

"Your lunatic sister thought I was a stalker and knocked it out of my hand"

My brother looked at me in disbelief and started dying, only metaphorically to my disappointment.

"Y-you thought that someone would stalk YOU" he said laughing uncontrollably "not to mention someone that is way out of your league". Even Kai looked amused!

I huffed "I've never seen him around before!"

"You haven't seen any of my friends except Jordan. You never come out of your room when I bring my friends over and you always stay at Bella's house when I hold parties" he said finally calming down.

"Whatever!" I stormed back to my room and started working on my homework while trying not to think about the embarrassing situation. It was then I realized that his soccer practice hadn't started yet, since it was the first day of school.
