Time To Grow Up

But Emma, the person in question returned back to C city without any care whatsoever.

Since then, she decided to leave her life to the fullest, moving from one street Job to the other and she was content with the little pay she received. As long as the job was one she likes, she will take it with no complaints.

"I got the job." Emma said with her heads down as she continued drinking her soup. She didn't even have the excited expression one was meant to have knowing they could work in a big company.

"That's great news! I knew I didn't prepare a feast for nothing." Andrea exclaimed with a smile on her face. She was genuinely happy for her sister even though the latter had no happiness on her face.

"Sure.. whatever. Enough with the talk now I'm starving." Emma said impatiently as she picked up the plate of veggies and refilled her plate.

Andrea decided to let her be... for now. They enjoyed their breakfast silently and finished up around 9.

Andrea had her off day today so she decided to take Emma shopping and later went out with her army boyfriend.

Emma returned home after the stressful shopping and after organizing the clothes they bought, she decided to watch a movie.

She searched through the channels for a very long time until she came across a high school zombie series, All Of Us Are Dead. Emma loved films like this and was especially intrigued during the killing scenes. She watched the series till the seventh episode and stopped when the time was quarter to two.

After changing into a more comfortable outfit(her usual baggy clothes) she ran into the streets again for her menial jobs. She took on three heavyweight jobs today that when she went home, she immediately soaked in her bathtub, with aching bones.

She was satisfied with her work today as she dreamt of how happy she would be if she decided to leave like this forever.

After her bath, she changed into her nightwear then picked up an old box that was hidden behind Andrea's picture on the wall.

She placed in two thousand dollars and with a satisfied smile, she closed it and went down for dinner.

Andrea's army boyfriend, lieutenant Jerry bought them takeouts after dropping Andrea so they both sat opposite each other enjoying their meals.

"Jerry is so sweet... he took me to see a monkey at the zoo today..."

"Jerry held my hands as we walked around the amusement park licking ice cream.... he's so romantic!!"

"Emma... what do you think about Jerry?" after Andrea was done singing countless praises for Jerry, she turned her attention to Emma and asked with anticipation in her voice.

"Um... he looks strong..." Emma said the first thing that came to her mind. She wasn't wrong though. When Jerry came, he had huge muscles and his packs were evidence. He wore a dark green T-shirt and pants. His looks were average and he's really tall. The only thing Emma could agree on was the fact that his jet black hair complemented his dark shimmery eyes.

"I know right! And he looks so gooood!" Andrea said dreamily.

"Enough now." Emma said tiredly as she massaged her temple.

"I should go to bed now. I have to go early to work tomorrow right..."

When Andrea heard it was relating to her work, she stopped fantasizing about Jerry and pushed Emma into her room before shutting the door.

The next morning, being Monday came quickly and for the second time this month, Emma woke up early! Andrea was surprised to see the house in a good shape and was shocked to see the three simple but heart warming dishes on the table.

The dishes although simple, were made with so much love that Andrea was on the verge of tears as she approached Emma from behind and hugged her tightly.

"What's the matter sis... are you still dreaming?" Emma teased while washing the utensils in the sink.

"Nah... I'm just so touched seeing you act so sensibly." Andrea smiled as she let go.

"Start getting used to it. Emma Duke is growing up." Emma said with shoulders high as she smiled full of pride.

"Really!! So in your twenty six years of life it's now you decided to grow up huh..." Andrea teased. They broke into laughter as they went into the dining after finishing the utensils.

"I hope I won't end up in the white house...." Andrea mumbled loud enough for Emma to hear as she served herself some egg pallets.

Emma hearing what Andrea said just smiled as she scooped a spoon of noodles for herself.

Andrea after taking the first bite looked up at Emma with disbelief all over her face.

"What the.... " Emma ignoring her expression continued to eat at it nothing happened.

"Emma... tell me the truth." Andrea said seriously.
