chapter 55- little truths 2

After dinner Eliza walked hurriedly to the front door she had heard two maid discussing that Alex was still around and would soon be leaving for theatre, Reina was sick and this could be the only opportunity she had to be with him and she couldn't let it slide, she had to make sure she accompanies him.

She opened the door and on seeing Alex at the bottom of the stairs dressed in a dark coat and a white shirt his midnight dark hair was combed and blended with the night he looked breathlessly handsome and elegant. Any woman would be honored to go out with him, she hurriedly descended to the bottom failing to take note of his companion.

"Prince Alex." She called breathlessly as she reached the bottom almost tripping as she matched her gown." Prince Alex." She smiled sweetly ,regaining her posture." I heard you were going to the theatre, to watch the new play that is going to be performed. And since I haven't watched it yet.." She trailed off slyly." I was thinking that we could go together." She said.

Alex looked at her from head to toe." Eliza , you surprise me a lot." This statement made Eliza face lit up with joy." But I already have a companion to the theatre." He said staring at the woman who had been standing not too far from them.

Eliza face dropped when she heard this, she tilted her gaze to where he was looking at and the blood from her face drained upon seeing the woman.

Reina grinned at the look on Eliza's face, she didn't blame her one would not recognise her with the where she had dressed. The gown she had worn was the green of spring leaves and had brought out the magnificent colour of her eyes ,with a deep hem embroidered with white-and-gold flowers. Her hair had been down and packed to a side and she wore a diamond necklace to match her clothes.

She walked up elegantly and placed her hand on Alex's arm."What is wrong lady Eliza? You look like you have seen a ghost." She said sarcastically.

Eliza didn't reply as her tongue was tied and she was in a state of shock.

"You are awfully quite Eliza, what wrong? Can't get your tongue?" Reina asked with full fury.

Alex smiled fondly at Reina. " Oh well, I would have love for you ladies to stay and chitchat , but we must go before the play begins, come Reina dear ." He said tagging Reina along with him.

Eliza watched in shell shocked silence as the carriage of prince Alex disappeared through the main gate.

Reina looked at the outside with pleasure as the carriage passed through the trees.

"You were amazing back there." Alex told her." With the way you talked to her. "

"I would have given her a whole lot more if you hadn't suggested that we left." She said." I know she and your annoying and overbearing aunt Ruth hated me , but I never knew that they would stoop so low in order to achieve their hidden motives. "He could hear the angry in her voice.

Alex looked outside, she needed some space and time to process everything.

"So doctor what is wrong with her?" He asked.

"She have been poisoned by a very rare and poisonous plant." The man replied.

Alex felt his heart squeeze at this. "Which plant exactly?" He asked.

"By the oleander plant." He said seeing the confused expression on Alex face explained. "The oleander plant is a very dangerous and rare plant that if eaten , it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, erratic pulse,seizures, coma and it can kill the person if care is not taken." He said.

Alex was already panicking. "She is not suffering from any of the symptoms you mentioned." Alex stated.

"I know, you see your Majesty." The physician said calmly." The plant affects only humans and doesn't do anything to vampires and other creatures ,maybe in some rare cases it only gives them a fever." He stated.

"So she is alright and only has a fever?" He asked.

"Yes your highness." The man replied.

"When did you think that the poison was given to her?" He asked.

"I think four hours before midnight." The man answered.

"When will she be better?" Alex asked.

"If my calculations are correct she should be fine before evening." He replied.

"I hope that you will keep the secret about her not being human?" He asked coldly , not waiting for the man to answer before heading back to Reina's room , she had been poisoned and from the mans calculations it was about the time he had left her to sleep.

He had stayed with her and nursed her back to health before asking her about the previous night , it took sometime before she could fully remember what had taken place in the her room the previous night and that very morning, he felt his blood boil when she told him everything and the evidence could only point at Eliza and Ruth.

He wanted to Stom out of the room and personally go and have a 'chat' with those two woman,but reina had stopped him and said she had a better idea, which worked well. The look on Eliza's face in shock was very satisfying , he wished he could see the look on Ruth's face when Eliza tells her about Reina not begin sick. But he didn't forget to ask Steven to find the maid who had served Reina the poisonous drink , and with Reina's description of the maid it wouldn't take long to find the maid who didn't value her life.

Alex helped Reina out of the carriage and lead her into the large building, reina could help but stare in amaze at the beauty of the building.

Alex leaned in close to her ears and whispered."Close your mouth kitten."

"Hm?" She turned blushing a little but pink. "Oh sorry, its just that the theater that is at home , is not as magnificent as this one." She said.

"Have you ever been to the night theatre before?" He asked.

"No."

Alex smiled to himself." Why is that."

"Because father always said that the night theater was not for children."

And he was right Alex thought to himself.
