A conflict starts among the trio

By the time Jennifer and Elina reached the dormitory, it was already noon. They did not find Cassie in their room. Elina reached for her phone to give a call to Cassie but Jennifer stopped her.

"What's wrong?" Elina asked.

"What are you doing?" Jennifer enquired.

"I am going to call Cassie and see when she will be coming back," Elina replied casually.

"She is not a kid. She knows the way back and will come when her work is done. Now stop dilly-dallying and start to prepare for the exams. I do not want you to have any backlogs even though we already have an intern job in hand" Jennifer tried to divert her attention from Cassie.

Elina when she heard about the internship, her heart became sour. She could not go for that internship now, can she? Already she made a lot of mistakes and definitely did not want to see his face anymore.

She knew she was the one at fault but Elina couldn't control her feelings whenever he was around her. Look what she did this time when they met. She violated him by kissing him once again.

No! Definitely they both cannot exist in the same place, or else it would create a problem between her and Jennifer. After making that decision Elina slowly opened her mouth to voice her opinion.

"I think I would pass on that internship. Anyways, I had also applied for assisting the professor for the next two months until we graduate. So, I do not want to do the internship anymore in the chairman's company"

"What? No! I thought you were interested in working, so I also accepted that time. Now, if you are not going then I am also not going" Jennifer declared.

"No, why don't you want to go to his company? Anyways you are already a couple and it would help you create more sparks with your boyfriend. You must definitely go and use this opportunity to understand him more." Elina insisted.

Jennifer was left speechless when she heard the word couple. She was still hiding about her marriage with Jayden. She now knows for sure that Aiden and Jayden are two different individuals.

So all she has to do is find Jayden as soon as possible. She felt that it would not be an issue to inform Elina about her marriage with Jayden.

"So about being a couple which you mentioned earlier, actually I am already…" Before Jennifer could finish her sentence, Cassie entered the room holding a tower of books in her hands.

Elina rushed to help her with the books while Jennifer stood aside and watched her with uncertain eyes. When Elina saw Jennifer standing like a statue without helping Cassie, she nudged Jennifer using her elbow.

Jennifer then walked forward and took half of the books from Cassie's hands. While half of the remaining books Elina grasped and put it on the desk.

"Why did you get so many books? Awwww… It is so heavy" Elina complained when she hardly took three books from Cassie's hand.

Cassie stopped herself from rolling her eyes at Elina and declared, "I have decided to study hard and clear all my backlogs along with the current exams."

"Good! Very good! Then you can accompany Jennifer when she joins for the internship this month end" Elina tried to push the responsibility towards Cassie.

"Oh! I am sorry, I cannot. As I talked with my sponsor, he wants me to go abroad once I graduate. So I guess this is all the time we have left to be with each other" Cassie said with sadness.

Jennifer stared at Cassie to understand if the sadness she was displaying was real or not. Meanwhile, Elina already had tears in her eyes. She ran towards Cassie and hugged her.

"How could you think of leaving us and going abroad? Why don't you stay here with us? We can always be together. I do not want you to go" Elina bawled her eyes out.

Cassie pushed her away with force and Elina stumbled as she lost footing. Before Jennifer could react, Elina fell down but thankfully it was not the hard floor. She landed safely on the bed.

Jennifer, who was now attentive towards Cassie, noticed her face change when Elina hugged her. She could confirm that Cassie doesn't have much liking for Elina.

Till now she thought Cassie behaved with slight dislike because of how Elina behaved. But now she could feel a deep resentment towards Elina from Cassie.

"What is wrong with you, Cassie? Why do you have to push her away? You could have asked calmly to let you go" Jennifer asked rudely.

"Do you think she would listen if I talk to her calmly? I have already put up with her childish behavior for almost four years now? I am not left with much patience to take care of a baby like her anymore" Cassie reverted back.

Elina cried even more loudly after being called childish. She was already having trouble trying to get over her guilty feeling about Aiden.

Looking at Elina who was now weeping even more loudly, Cassie went towards her and barked, "You need to stop this act right now! Do not try to make me a villain here. And stop putting on a show as if you're the good person and everyone else is bad. I know your character very well."

Elina laid her head on the pillow and her tears formed a huge mark on it. She already knows she was a villain and also a bad person who slept with her best friend's boyfriend.

Jennifer couldn't bear to see Elina crying anymore. She held Cassie's arm and warned, "If you do not stop now, then do not regret what I do next."

Cassie pulled her hand away and shouted back at Jennifer, "Why? Why should I stop? When I am the innocent one here who suffered all the losses but still I am the one who is now a worse person in your eyes? Why? Why do you always blindly support her? And not see how much I suffered because of her and her family?..."

"I am not..." Jennifer tried to stop in between but only to be stopped by the latter.

"Really? You will support that person who slept with your boyfriend rather than a person who was truthful?" Cassie shouted her lungs out.

"Yes," Jennifer said without hesitation.

"You are unbelievable! You both deserve each other. One who sleeps with her friend's boyfriend and the other who says it is fine to share her boyfriend even in bed." Cassie clapped her hands.

Jennifer couldn't hold on to her anger anymore and slapped Cassie. Cassie stood like a statue with a shock while holding the burning cheeks where Jennifer slapped.

"You slapped... me... for her?...why? Unbelievable..."

Jennifer tried to control her anger and muttered, "I do not know why you have such a misunderstanding with her but I trust Elina. She won't do anything that would harm anyone."

"Very well then. You both deserve each other! I do not want to see you guys anymore. Just bear with me for the time being until the exams are over. Then I will go my way and would never see your faces again" Cassie said and left the room in a hurry.

Jennifer looked at the direction Cassie went and took a deep breath. But something did not feel quite right about how Cassie talked about Elina and her family.

As there was no way she could have met them when they all live in another city. Jennifer just shook her head to clear her thoughts and turned towards Elina who now snorting because of her runny nose.

Elina was afraid that Jennifer also would leave her as she now knows that she slept with her boyfriend. She was shivering and started to cry even more.

Jennifer sighed and took a box of tissue to Elina. She cleaned Elina's face and then her nose. She hugged her and patted her back. She waited patiently until she almost stopped crying.

"Are you ok now? You know right? You could share anything with me? Then why did you not tell me before?" Jennifer asked.

"I did not know I would do such a horrible thing. I just couldn't control myself when I saw him…" Elina slowly started to say what had happened when she was abducted by Aiden.

Finally, after the burden was shared, she felt light and could breathe properly. Until now she almost felt like a half-dead person and the guilty consciousness was eating her alive.

"Idiot! If you like him all you have to do is say that to me. I would never stand between you guys." Jennifer did not know if Elina did it with Jayden how she would have felt.

But after knowing that Aiden and Jayden were not one and the same, she was truly happy for her friend.

"I am not a supporter of true love at first sight but if you really want to pursue Aiden, then I will not stop you," Jennifer said.

"Who is Aiden?" Elina asked innocently.

"The person you slept with behind your friend's back," Jennifer replied while smiling.
