Her relationship with her grandmother

Emmett called to stop her. Though all this time neither Pearl nor Krish bothered themselves to notice that man's physique or face, as they were busy with their own stuff and thoughts.

However on the other hand Emmett saw everything and understood a little bit of what was happening too. He can faintly tell that the other person is bothering her.

Pearl turned back with her still blank but little impatient look. "Yes?"

He walked towards her. Removing his coat from himself, he put it on her shoulder, covering her back. "Don't forget to put on medicine right away on your back once you reach." Without saying anything else he turned back and left with the file collected by Krish.

"... what did he just do?" Krish mumbled while watching Emmett back with unsurety. When he looked back to talk to that girl, the girl was also missing.

"Where did she go?" He hurriedly looked around, but none of the silhouettes matched her.

***

"Pearl. You are here." An old lady came out of the funeral hall as she greeted her.

"Sorry. I got a little late aunty. Is grandmother waiting inside?" Pearl bowed a little before asking.

Old lady caressed her head as she said gently. "Yes she is inside, talking to some guests. Everything is going smoothly as per your order."

Pearl said nothing to that reply. She silently watched people eating their food inside the hall. Her grandfather's photo hanging on the wall brought lots of warm memories to her heart, she again felt that regret for her life and for his dream.

Her grandfather left all his inheritance to her name. And to everyone's surprise, it wasn't shocking to his wife. In fact, her grandmother didn't care a bit about inheritance or company.

All she cared about in the world was her husband. And that's the sole reason why her grandfather left all responsibility solely on Pearl.

After half an hour she was attending some funeral work when her grandmother called her in her room.

Pearl obediently went to her room. "Yes Grandmother?"

Mrs. Mallaya stood up from her bed and went towards her cupboards, before taking out some boxes.

"Once the funeral ends, book me a ticket to our hometown. I want to go back for a while."

"Why?" Pearl asked plainly.

Her grandmother wasn't surprised by her straightforwardness. She is immune and used to her coldness. Passing those boxes to her she replied.

"I can't stay in this mansion alone even if it's you. Take these jewelleries. They were given to me by my mother-in-law. There's no one whom I can pass it on, except you. I don't care what you would do with it."

Saying that she locked her cupboard and passed the key to Pearl as well and added. "Rest of the jewellery, take it with you too. But don't sell them until I die."

Pearl quietly looked at her. Her grandmother isn't as friendly as her grandfather was. In fact, her grandmother never thought of her as her dear child as grandfather did. But she never denied Pearl's presence because her husband liked her and wanted her.

Pearl never expected anything from her anyway. For Pearl, Saba was also just someone whom she has to trust because her grandfather did.

However now when the sole bond they had between them was broken, she never thought that her grandmother would still bother herself with her.

When Mr. Mallaya's will was discussed in front of her and Mrs. Mallaya, Pearl never thought of taking away anything from her grandmother. If at that moment Mrs. Mallaya had asked her to give her back everything, she would have done so without thinking twice.

But Mrs. Mallaya didn't. She affirmed all Mr. Mallaya's decisions. She didn't want anything from inheritance anyway.

Later whatever arrangements Pearl made for her for the funeral she plainly accepted it. Whatever arrangements she provided for her livelihood she accepted that too. In fact Pearl gave everything best for her convenience. There was no space for complaints.

With a nod, Pearl also agreed to saba's word and didn't talk back to her. "I will arrange tickets and servants for your service. Your house will be cleaned within a few days. The pantry will be stocked. A Chef with a nurse and few bodyguards will go with you. Whenever you wanna come back, call me."

"No bodyguards." Grandmother simply denied.

"Then those servants will be your guards," Pearl said.

"Hmm... Do whatever you want, do not let anyone bother me with any of your arrangements." She said,

"...Once the funeral is done I will go back to my parent's house. I will lock this mansion and will only come back when you come back." Pearl informed me.

"You don't need to inform me of this." Grandmother said.

"I need to."

The only reason she came back to her homeland is for her Grandfather Mallaya. And now her only reason to stay back is her grandmother and the company which she needs to take care of.

If her Grandmother also decides to leave, she has to go back to Sen. It wasn't something she wanted to do, but her Grandfather Sen ordered her to do so.

Although his words aren't that important to her, Ajay Mallaya, her Grandfather also wanted the same.

Taking a pause, Grandmother said. "... even if you are going back, don't bring anything precious or expensive with you."

"Yes, Grandmother." Pearl agreed to her order.

"Don't let them take advantage of yours. Keep those jewelleries either at your place or in any locker. Those property papers keep it safe to. Get it?" Her grandmother sternly reminded her.

When they lived abroad, Pearl also lived with them at their place. Those moments when Pearl was out for her work Mr. Mallaya talked about Pearl a lot.

Like their grandparents, they know about the Pearl situation very well. She knows what will come next for Pearl if she goes back to her parents, who clearly don't want her to be back.

"That's it. Go back."

"Yes, Grandmother." Pearl said and was about to go back when she was called again.

"Wait. I got a call from your grandfather today. Though he attended the funeral already, his son means your father with his family is only coming tomorrow to attend the funeral."

"I'll ask someone to allow them to enter whenever they come tomorrow."

"Do it for the Roy family too. I am sure they would come with Sen's."

"Hmm." Their conversations always have been cut to cut, as if no emotions are present in their heart. What was odd was the fact that none of them find this thing between them weird.

Saba's every order and complaints, Pearl silently accepted everything. After her grandfather's death, her prime priority is her grandmother. The responsibility her grandfather gave it to her.
