The Invite to a company party

It has been about two months since prom. It was spent like usual, just training, school, Alice time then Mia time or both. I also found a job. I was in high school and since I started school I was always a genius so finding a well paying one was easy.

The job is basically an engineering company where I have to come there and basically help with files or pitch ideas. The first week was like I was shadowing a professional to see how they do it then my brain caught on to the rest.

My parents were happy I got a job because I was being paid around 50k-126k a year. Though since I was in high school I set up a plan and everything so my parents can rest easy knowing I'm not spending it on junk food.

This also helped because I wanted to move out. I'm seventeen, and have a girlfriend who can come whenever she wants, but our parents and my sister are around a lot so we can't have as much fun as we can if I had a house built.

I wanted to talk to them about it but decided to wait till I have enough money to be one-hundred percent sure I can maintain everything. I also noted that as of now Twilight: new moon will start in one month.

I spent time with all the family even Edward now that I have an efficient way to block him. That includes Bella we've been on good terms she seems good around everyone except Rosalie.

I honestly didn't want her anywhere near Jacob because I remembered a big difference between the mate bond and imprinting.

Imprinting is when something or someone makes some type of impact on you that you don't forget. For the shifters, they start liking them. Not love but like. This means that it doesn't matter if they look at a picture of a person on a magazine if they get stimulated by it they imprint on it making a one sided marriage that can involved not just you but multiple girls or things.

Bell and any other girl in this world would not let that fly at all. I also came to treat bell as a sister since she sometimes talks to me about her personal problems and she hangs out with both me and Alice along with me and Edward would come by as well.

I didn't want for even a chance to have Jacob imprint on not just Bella but another thing or shifter it would be devastating to her. My plan was to keep them out of contact as much as possible and it work a little. Basically she would come to me or Alice first before him or anyone else.

With the mate bond it's for life that you and your soul mate are together. No one else invited or involved. That's why I know Bella didn't like Jacob but was all she could rely on for emotional support. Though he took advantage of that.

(Zane POV)

"Alice when I have a house built do you want to live with me?" I asked looking down at Alice who was laying on top of me in my room. She came to visit and we just hung out together enjoy the comfortable felling of cuddling with our mate.

Her head was on my chest when she looked up at me. "Really?" She asked looking like a hopeful cat. I smiled at her antics. "Of course, we're gonna be together for eternity so might as well and other unspoken reasons."

She smiled seductively and moved her hands under my shirt lifting it up and kissed my abs. "Is this one of those "unspoken reasons"." Alice asked looking at me haughtily.

"Sorry, but not today. You are right though, partially." I said with a smile. She pouted a little and pulled my shirt back down snuggling back into my chest.

"I know. Next month is Bella's birthday what should we get." She asked looking at me. I leaned up with my elbows supporting me.

I stroked her hair and said "I don't really know let's think about it a week before her birthday. That should be plenty of time to decide." She hummed in agreement.

We were about to go back to cuddling seeing as today was a Friday after school. We just laid there till my mom called us down. We got downstairs and saw mom looking happily at us.

"Zane, Alice. Me and Jack were invited to a company party with our family could attend, we wanted to know if you would come as well?" My mom asked.

I looked at Alice and she said "I'll have to ask my parents but they most likely will." I nodded and mom started going off about how jealous the people at work will be when they see me and Alice.

I sighed and walked Alice to the garage where we got in my mustang and was driving her home.

"You'll have to drink some blood bags I presume?" I asked while we were driving. She sighed and nodded before looking at me and said "Yeah, but I'll have to really convince them." She looked a little worried.

Pulling into the driveway I gave Alice a quick peck on the lips and told her it'll be fine. She sighed and got into the house. I drove back home and got a call from my job telling me I have to come in today. It was a pain and a waste of time but a necessary waste of time.

I got home and told my mom I was in today and she just nodded saying ok.

'I have enough for the house and can maintain my bills so maybe I should just get the house. My check does come in next week anyway and with how much work and help I have done it should be hefty." I thought while putting on a black button up shirt and some dress pants and shoes.

I also knew that the Cullens would be leaving and I wasn't going to let them take Alice with them, not at all. The house would be used for me and her and if not a house I'll have a nice sized cabin built for us.

"Let's get this damn day over with." I said leaving my room and getting the keys to my motorcycle. The drive took an hour or so because I was essentially a little bit out of forks since it was to small for this type of company.

The building was a sky scraper. Parking my bike and taking the helmet off revealing my helmet hair which didn't bother me much gained lots of attention as usual. Today they didn't stop long and I knew why.

Today the CEO was coming and it had to be something important for him to come personal. Getting my ID card out and scanning it on a door, it opened and people were bustling everywhere.

I got to the elevator and pressed the fourteenth floor. The door closed and after some stops and people leaving and getting on I was there. I walked out of the elevator and put on a practiced smile that was still charming some how.

A door suddenly opened a few feet in front of me and a man in a black suit with grey and brown hair looked my way and lit up a bit. "Zane, the CEO want to meet you. Come here!" He yelled.

"On my way, Mr. Mac." I said to my boss. He also has a habit of bragging about things like my mom. I got to the door and saw a room with a long table. It had twelve seats set up to it. Their was the CEO at the opposite end of the table. He had five people under him off to the side of the table and the others were supervising.

"Hello Mr. Hank how may I be of service." I said with the Same smile. Hank nodded with a satisfied smile and said "There will be an party held by a relatively big company and I want you to sort through some of the projects we want to pitch for a connection with them. It could start a good relationship with the company and we could maybe collaborate on something."

'So you want to kiss their ass.' I though, but on the outside I nodded and left to get started.

"That kid is good get him a raise and let's get on with the plans." I heard Hank say after leaving. I sat at my computer and began going through some projects and ideas I've helped people improve or model.
