Episode 1

7:30 pm.

Ling Empericorps.

The most powerful man in the business industry stood by the glass wall of his building and looked into the glistening lights on the streets. He gently massaged his forehead.

His work was beginning to take a toll on his body. He couldn't even remember the last time he had a nice sleep. He was powerful inside the office but inside his family, his grandfather was the most powerful being. He couldn't even say no when he engaged him to some mysterious lady.

He turned towards the door when he heard 3 loud knocks.

"Come in," he ordered.

The man entered was also well-built, just like him. But he was of no power.

"Feng, have you done what I've told you to do?" he asked as he sat down in his huge chair behind his gigantic desk.

"Yes, sir," the man, standing in front of the desk said.

"What's the result in your investigation? Have you found out about the lady I'm marrying?" he said as he accepted the folder from the other man.

"Sir Lie, I'm afraid there is not much information about this lady. But I've gathered some important info about the background of the woman, sir," the assistant said.

Ling Lie raised his head to look at his assistant's face.

"Oh, what is it?" he asked as he tossed the folder in his desk and leaned back on his chair as if he was interested in his assistant's story.

"She is currently the biggest shareholder in Jung Holdings. And no one in the company nor in her household has seen her face ever since they started working for her. There were only 4 people who had seen her up close, the acting CEO of the Jung Holdings which is her assistant, the chairman of the Jung Holdings which is rumored to be her grandfather, her personal maid and her personal bodyguard. But now, your grandfather has been added to the list," Zhedong said.

"Hmm, interesting. This woman is quite interesting. Any information about her company?" he asked as he brushed his messy hair back.

"Yes, Jung Holdings is one of the most outstanding companies in South Korea. And it's international standing isn't quite far from us. Their stocks have risen to almost the top, right next to ours," Zhedong added.

"Hmm, I see why grandfather has wanted me to marry that woman," he grinned. It seemed like his grandfather wanted to expand in South Korea.

"Can you appoint a meeting with her? I'd like to have a chat with my future wife," he said.

"I'm afraid we can't sir. I have already tried but she doesn't meet people, personally, that is. The only way to talk to her is to appoint a meeting with the acting CEO," Zhedong said.

"Alright, have you appointed a meeting with him then?" Ling Lie asked.

"Yes, I already have. But it is still next week," the assistant said as he checked his phone.

"You know I hate waiting. Get my jet ready tomorrow afternoon. I'd pay my future wife assistant's a surprise visit," Ling Lie smiled.

He wouldn't have any problem if it was just dating but marriage is another topic on which he doesn't like to discuss, especially if he was going to be married to someone no one has ever seen.

He checked his wristwatch and realized it was almost 8 in the evening.

"Get my car ready. I'm tired. I'd like to rest first before heading to grandfather's villa tomorrow morning," he said as he stood up and fixed his collar and tie.

"Yes, sir," Zhedong said as he rushed outside to get the car ready.

But before he could even grab his coat, a veiled woman with a man by her side, entered his office.

She sat down in front of his desk and removed her gloves.

"I'm afraid I am not expecting anyone nor I have an appointment with anyone on this time of day," he said.

The woman slowly removed her side veil and handed it to the man who was standing beside her.

"I'd like to ask you to sit down Mr. Ling. I'd like to introduce myself properly," she said as she crossed her legs.

"This is Tae KyungJae, my assistant," the woman said as she gestured to the man beside her.

Before the woman could say anything, Zhedong entered the room.

"Sir, your car is... Mr. Tae, what a surprise to see you," Zhedong said as he bowed to Kyungjae.

"Do you both know each other?" Ling Lie asked curiously.

"Ahh, yes. Sir, this Mr. Tae Kyungjae, the CEO of the Jung Holdings," Zhedong said as he turned his eyes towards the blonde-haired woman who was sitting beside the CEO.

"I see," Ling Lie said as sat back down in his chair. He now finally realized that the woman that he was investigating was the woman in front of him.

The woman stood up elegantly and went in front of him to offer her hand.

"I hope you'd stop investigating me, my future husband. My name is Jung Sooyeon, I am the real CEO of Jung Holdings," she said.

A defeated smile crept on Ling Lie's face.

"A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Sooyeon," he said as he kissed her hand.

An impressed smile was drawn on Sooyeon's face.

"The pleasure is mine. I know it is late at night but I'd like to discuss our marriage. Kyung Jae, I'd like to be alone with Mr. Ling for a moment," Sooyeon said.

Kyungjae bowed and gestured for Zhedong to also leave them. After the two assistants left, Sooyeon stood up and went to the glass wall and looked at the city lights below them.

"I am risking my own safety to discuss this with you, I hope you appreciate that Mr. Ling," she said without even looking at Ling Lie.

Ling Lie stood up and went beside her.

"Well, I appreciate the effort," he said.

"Don't worry. This marriage will bring only success to the company. I assure you that," she said as she sat down on his chair.

"Well, I'm only going to believe that if you convince me. Otherwise--"

"I'm immortal," she cut him off.

Ling Lie was surprised at her. But instead of believing her, he laughed.

"I never thought the almighty CEO of the Jung Holdings have such a wild imagination," Ling Lie laughed.

She silently stood up with an indifferent look in her face.

"I wish that was just all my imagination, unfortunately, not," she said as she got out a small antique sharp knife and cut her palm. Shocking as it was, it healed almost instantly. "You see, I am someone who cannot die so easily. I've seen the worst of the wars and I've seen them make peace," she added.

Ling Lie was dumbstruck at what he had witnessed but he decided to hide his expression.

"So, is this the reason why you hide from everyone?" he calmly asked.

She nodded quietly.

"And, people will notice that I don't age. My face hasn't changed since I turned 21," she said while staring into the beautiful city lights below them.

"So, what do you want me to do?" he asked his hands in his pockets.

"Nothing," she said.

"You want me to keep your secret?" he asked.

"Nope. I'm going to expose myself someday, I've known that" she said.

"Hmm, what do you want in this marriage anyway?" he asked as he faced her.

He studied her for awhile while she took a deep breath. She was beautiful. She was like a princess from the ancient times. And she hasn't aged for centuries. She wasn't wearing any makeup but her lips were pink in hue, her cheeks were pinkish and her beautiful monolid Korean eyes that implements her over-all face.

"I would like to experience a normal life once. I hoped this was the perfect moment to do that," she smiled. "But if marriage is too burdensome for you, perhaps I could make other arrangements for our companies to reach their peak of success."

"No, I'm already at the age of marrying. Besides, grandfather wants me to get married," he said.

"Ahh, the old man Ling. He was a sweet boy, you know. Your grandfather. I've watched him grow up," she said.

"You know him back then?" he asked.

"Yes. Your great grandparents were also business partners of mine. I helped them establish this company," she said as she sat back down in his chair. "Oh, I hope you don't mind marrying a thousand-year-old woman."

He hadn't thought about that. He looked at her again. And she smiled sweetly back at him, her eyes forming a slight curve as if they were also smiling at him. She looked nothing like a grandma, in fact, it will only look like he was going to marry someone who just got into college.

"No, I don't mind," he said.

"Alright. That settles it. I'll come to your house tomorrow. Don't bother picking me up, I am always not around," she said as she stood up from his chair. "We'll need to discuss things about the wedding tomorrow. And, I'm bringing some actors and actresses with me who's going to stage as my parents. I'm just letting you know beforehand."

"Noted," he said as he sat back in his chair.

"Great. See you tomorrow then. I shall take my leave," she said as she exited the room.

He remained quiet for a while. It was hard to believe that there was someone who was immortal and couldn't die. Is she a monster? A vampire?

He shook his head to get rid of those thoughts.

"I need to get some sleep," he muttered to himself and stood up to leave after grabbing his coat. After leaving the company, he went home.

As he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He couldn't get her face out of his mind.
