Quirkless

The doctor walked into the room and shook his head, a man and woman were standing next to a young boy. The woman said "He doesn't have any of our quirks? Is it a new one?" the man added "Is it strong?" the doctor sighed and said "He doesn't have a quirk. He's quirkless." the duo paled and looked at the boy, who smiled sadly and looked at the ground. The man and woman thanked the doctor and left the hospital with the boy.

The boy was sitting in the back seat and looking outside. He wondered how his life would be without a quirk, probably really bad, he was 7 years old and quite smart already. He went to kindergarden and some of his 'friends' had quirks, he could imagine that they wouldn't be 'friends' anymore after they find out he had no quirk. He sighed as he stared out the window watching the buildings pass by, when the car stopped.

The boy's father got out of the car and said to his wife "It's okay, we'll just leave him here. Nobody will know." the woman nodded and the man threw the boy into the alleyway before speeding off. The boy watched through tears as his parents tossed him away like garbage before hitting his head on a garbage can and losing consciousness.

The boy woke up in the middle of the night as his stomach rumbled, he looked around for his parents before recalling the situation he was in. He cried silently as he searched for food in the alleys, diving into dumpsters, sneaking around, even stealing from the nearby shops, anything to eat and live.

1 year passed

The boy was hugging his knees with a katana leaned against his shoulder as he hid in the alley, he hadn't had much human interaction, except for a few rare situations. For him, life was extremely bland, wake up, eat, practice the sword, eat, go to sleep. Everyday was more or less the same, he sometimes slipped some work outs in there if he had enough food to eat.

2 years later

The boy was looking for food with his katana strapped to his back when someone noticed him from the sidewalk and said "Gross a filthy street rat. I wish the heroes took care of this trash as well.." The boy looked at him and narrowed his eyes, the man was unfazed and said "What are you looking at rat, you want me to make a citizen's arrest?" as a fireball appeared in his hands.

The boy looked at him and grabbed the hilt of his katana as he silently looked at the man, who sneered and threw a fireball at the boy. The boy rolled out of the way and charged at the man, he kicked his legs out from under him and sat on his chest as he held his chipped and worn out katana blade to his neck.

The man started to sweat as his friend ran away calling for help. The boy stared at the man and said in a raspy voice "You think you're better than me? I don't even have a quirk and I took you down easily. Now your life is in my hands." the man gulped and turned pale, the boy tilted his head, he never even came close to taking a life.

He was 10 years old now, he was bigger than before and he had an 'X' scar over his left eye. He got his eye healed by a nice old lady and he could still see from it despite the 'X' inside his pupil, she was a miracle healer. Despite living in the alleys, the boy still had to learn how to fight to protect himself and his food from other alley residents, he learned his lesson the hard way with his scar being a prime example of that.

The boy lifted his katana and looked on emotionlessly as he swung down, when a bandage wrapped around his arm and he heard a voice "Quirkless you say?" The boy looked at the man who stopped him, he had messy black hair going down to his shoulders and pale skin along with a bandage looking scarf that was currently tying the boy up, who said "Who are you?"

The man who was being pinned down said "Eraserhead! Thank you, this filthy street rat will be cleaned off the streets for good!" 'Eraserhead' grimaced and kicked the man, knocking him out as he tied him up and left him for the police as he left a note 'Attacked a defenseless child -Eraserhead' before dragging the boy with him.

The boy was being dragged and he sheathed his katana as he asked again "Who are you?" Eraserhead said "Are you deaf? That guy just said it." the boy said "Hero names are worthless, what's your real name." Eraserhead said "Aizawa. What's yours boy." the boy said "It used to be Cloud.."

Aizawa said "Why were you in the alley?" Cloud said "My parents left me there when I was diagnosed quirkless." Aizawa was silent for a moment before saying "You moved pretty fast for a quirkless kid." Cloud replied "If i'm not fast enough I won't have food to eat." Aizawa was silent was he left with Cloud, who said "Are you taking me to the police station?" Aizawa said "No." Cloud was silent as he let himself be dragged to wherever, he didn't think anywhere was worse than the alleys.

A while later

Aizawa stopped at a house and opened the door before dragging the boy inside. Cloud looked around and said "Are you going to kill me?" Aizawa shook his head and said "I'm a hero, do I look like a killer to you?" Cloud said "You dragged me to your house, I don't even know you." Aizawa let him free and said "You can leave if you want. I brought you here because you interest me, a quirkless boy with a sword, living in the alleys.. What do you want to do with your life kid."

Cloud looked through a window at the night sky and said "I want to be a hero." Aizawa raised a brow and said "Why?" Cloud said "The man who gave me this sword told me with his dying breath that he was quirkless just like me, but he was a villain. He said that he wanted to be a hero but he was abandoned by everyone, he told me not to be like him. I want to be the first quirkless hero and prove to everyone that you don't have to have a quirk to be a strong hero." as he clenched his fists.

Aizawa stared at him silently before saying "Take a shower and clean yourself up. You'll live here from now on." as he walked away after telling him where the shower was, Cloud looked at his back and said "Why?" Aizawa waved over his shoulder and said "I was inspired." before disappearing into the halls, Cloud watched him go and went to the shower.

He came out of the shower and saw a t-shirt and shorts on a chair, he put them on and looked in the mirror, he had silver-grey hair that turned pink at the tips and he was handsome, though he looked a bit malnourished. He grabbed his katana and sat in a corner before hugging his knees and falling asleep with the katana in hand.

Aizawa walked downstairs and saw Cloud sleeping in a corner, he picked him up and put him in a bed before going to sleep himself mumbling "Strange kid..."

The next morning

Cloud woke up in a bed and was confused, he got up and walked down stairs to see food on the table, Aizawa looked at him and said "Eat. When you're done I'm going to train you." Cloud was silent and ate the food quickly, as if someone was going to steal it from him if he wasn't fast enough. Aizawa watched him with curiosity before dragging him outside to a training area and training Cloud harshly.

Aizawa trained Cloud and watched as he never even made a sound of complaint, he did everything he was told to a T even if they were absurd requests, he asked "You aren't complaining?" Cloud said "As long as I get stronger I don't care." as he continued, Aizawa nodded and noted it down, he wanted to see if Cloud could really do it and become a hero and so, time passed just like that.

Cloud's new routine was eat, train, eat, sword training, eat, sleep. He didn't mind the ever-increasing reps and training, he just wanted to get stronger. As time passed quickly, Cloud and Aizawa got closer, almost like father and son but neither said anything about it.

5 years passed

It was Cloud's birthday today, Aizawa came in and said "Entrance exams for UA are tomorrow, I got you in without any prior schooling because I'm a teacher there. Don't disappoint me." Cloud nodded and Aizawa put a long box and a square one on the table before walking away saying "Happy birthday." Cloud looked at the box and opened it, he pulled out a new katana, wrapped in cloth.

He unwrapped the cloth and revealed the katana, the hilt was white and looked like Aizawa's bandage-like scarf. The sheathe was jet black and the guard was cloud shaped, he unsheated it and stared at his reflection before noticing the wave-like patterns on the blade itself. He clicked it back into place and took out his old katana, he pulled out the blade and sighed at the half blade that came out. He put the blade back in and put the old katana on the table before grabbing the new one and strapping it to his back, naming it 'Kumo'.

He opened the other box and pulled out a short black Kimono with white clouds on it, he tried it on and looked in the mirror. The kimono sleeves covered his arms and ended right after his elbow while the end of the kimono was just below his hip, he liked it a lot. He looked at himself, he had shoulder length hair now and a handsome face, he looked a lot more mature than he did 5 years ago, his arms were also more muscular than before. His left eye still had the 'X' scar over it and inside his pupil, he thought it looked cool.

He walked back to the table and picked up the boxes and his old katana before going to his room. He put the boxes in his closet and put his old katana on a rack he made himself before going to sleep, ready for the entrance exams the next day.

The next morning

Cloud was walking to UA at his own pace when a black and green haired boy passed him and tripped by himself, a girl used her powers to save him from falling to the ground. Cloud passed the two and walked into the school compound. He stopped behind a huge crowd of kids and the green haired boy stood next to him panting as he said "Right on time!" Cloud looked at him silently before a man with headphones and sunglasses started speaking "Hello people! Welcome to UA's entrance exams! I'm your host Present Mic, and i'll be explaining the rules!" the crowd cheered.

Cloud watched silently as Present Mic continued "There will be 2 parts! A practical test and a written one! The practical test will be a point based exam! Dispatch as many villains as you can within the allotted time! And it begins now!" the examinees shot off into the testing area, Cloud followed behind them at a brisk pace.

He came across a robot and sliced it in half with Kumo, he grabbed the sheathe and put it on his waist instead of his back, he had his kimono on with a grey shirt, shorts and sneakers on. He ran through the testing area, slashing robots in half, he came across a giant robot and slashed it's legs off before jumping into the air and cutting the robot's head off. He landed on the ground and clicked Kumo into place as he continued forward, cutting any robots that were in his way.

Eventually he started walking through a rubble filled area, he looked up and saw the green haired boy falling from the sky, the girl looked anxious and Cloud caught him before he hit the ground and placed him on the ground before walking away as the buzzer sounded, signifying the end of the exam. The girl went up to the green haired boy and said "Thank you for saving me!" the green haired boy blushed and said "No problem." the girl smiled sweetly and said "I'm Ochako!" the green haired boy smiled and said "I'm Izuku, nice to meet you."

Cloud walked away and Izuku chased after him saying "Ah wait!" Cloud stopped and Izuku said "Thanks for saving me! I'm Izuku, what's your name?" Cloud looked at him and said "Cloud." before walking away, Izuku had a funny face on as he watched Cloud walk away, Ochako walked up to Izuku and said "Who's that guy?" Izuku said "He said his name was Cloud." she nodded and said "Wanna walk back with me?" Izuku blushed and said "O-Okay!" she giggled and they walked back together, talking about the exam.

Cloud did the written test and left to go home. He wasn't too worried about it, he thought he got a lot of points and passed the written test perfectly. He got back home and saw Aizawa watching the practical exam again as he said "You saved that boy?" Cloud nodded and said "He was falling from the sky." Aizawa nodded and went over the footage saying "Your cuts could have been smoother here, here, and here but other than that good job." Cloud nodded and watched the footage before going back to training, waiting for the letter.

A week later

Cloud got a letter saying that he was accepted into UA along with a score, apparently he got an extra 30 points for saving Izuku from becoming a pancake. He nodded and left the letter on the table before going back to training, he got in is all that matters, now he just has to train harder than anyone else.

A few months later

Cloud was walking to UA with Kumo on his back. He had the UA school uniform on and a school bag in his hand as he leisurely made his way, he walked into the school and walked into his class, he looked up at the door and saw '1-A' on the door before walking inside. He ignored all the looks and sat at his desk, he hung his school bag on the hanger of the desk and kept Kumo on his back as he propped his chin in his hand and stared out the window, waiting for class to start.

Izuku rushed in and saw a bunch of people, he was embarrassed and a kid with glasses walked up to him and they started talking, Cloud ignored everyone else and gave off an unapproachable vibe. Coincidentally, Izuku's seat was right next to Cloud, he sat down and said "Hey Cloud! How you doing?" Cloud looked at him and said "Not bad." Izuku didn't really know what to say. he sighed and said "Can't you be more friendly?" Cloud shrugged and looked back out the window.

Aizawa walked into the classroom and said "Get your P.E clothes on and meet me outside on the field." the class immediately got dressed in the UA P.E uniform and followed him outside. Aizawa said "We're going to be testing your quirks and doing a series of tests." he looked at Cloud for a second before offering someone to do a trail pitch.

A blond spiky haired kid came up and threw the ball with his quirk, he caused and explosion and the ball flew through the air and landed far away, the rest of the class, minus Cloud, clapped and said "That was cool!" Aizawa frowned and declared "Whoever comes last will be expelled." the class gasped and the tests started. They class went through a 50m dash, a grip strength test, a standing long jump, and a sustained sideways jump, Cloud performed above average but was never first, he clenched his fist in frustration at his results.

The class went to the final test, the pitch test. A few of the kids went up and used their quirks to throw the ball, finally it was cloud's turn. He picked up the ball and cocked his arm back before throwing, the ball flew through the air and landed ahead of 60% of the class, he watched the ball fall to the ground and walked away. He sat down by himself as the rest of the class was confused, it was a normal throw.

The kids started talking amongst each other as more and more kids went up to throw "Why didn't he use his quirk?" Cloud grit his teeth and watched as Izuku went up, he threw the ball but was confused as it didn't go far at all, Aizawa said "Don't use your quirk, if every time you use it, you hurt yourself, then why become a hero? Nobody is going to save you." Izuku clenched his fists and Aizawa said "You have one more chance." Izuku nodded and threw the ball again, but at the last moment channeled his quirk into his finger and getting a high score as the ball flew far away.

The students started talking again and said "Maybe he got his quirk erased by the teacher?" another person said "That's not fair.." the blond haired kid snapped "You have a quirk?! You've been lying to me this whole time?!" Izuku stammered "I-I-" the kid charged at him and Aizawa stopped him with his bandages as he said "Relax Katsuki." he dragged him back and said "The expulsion rule was a lie. Your curriculum sheets are in the classroom, Izuku go to the nurse." before walking away.

One of the students said "Why did you erase that boy's quirk during the pitching?" as she pointed at Cloud, who stood up and walked towards the class. Aizawa said "I didn't, ask him yourself." before leaving. The students were confused and went to class only to find that Cloud was already gone. Cloud went through his day, ignoring the students who asked him questions and leaving fast after classes.

He went home and opened the door to find Aizawa already home, who looked at him and said "How long are you going to keep it a secret?" Cloud was silent and Aizawa added "Are you afraid you wont have any friends?" Cloud nodded silently and Aizawa said "Maybe you're wrong about them, you should try it out. What do you have to lose?" Cloud grimaced and went to his room before changing into his workout clothes and going to the training area and working out harder than before, he wasn't satisfied with the results today, he wanted to be better, the best if he could.

Aizawa watched from the corner of his eyes as Cloud trained himself till he physically couldn't anymore, he sighed and mumbled "Hell of a road you're walking on kid..." he picked him up with his bandages and brought him inside.

The next day

Cloud ignored everyone again, only saying hi to Izuku, who spoke first and didn't ask about his quirk. After normal classes ended, All Might showed up for their Foundational Heroics Studies and told the class to get changed into their hero costumes, because they were doing battle trials today.

The students quickly changed into their costumes, Cloud just had his Kimono and a shirt on with shorts and sneakers, he fastened Kumo on his hip and tied up his hair as he walked towards the group. They all looked at him and Katsuki said "Some hero costume you got there." Cloud looked at him and said "You look like a clown." Katsuki choked on his saliva, not expecting a response from Cloud at all, definitely not that one. Some of the other students laughed and All Might coughed, getting their attention, before saying "Well start with 2v2 heroes and villains. You will be paired up in twos and each duo will be either a hero or a villain! Villains have to protect a warhead or capture the heroes in the time limit and the heroes need to either capture the villains or touch the warhead to win! Everybody understand?"

The students nodded and All Might said "First up! Izuku and Ochako vs Katsuki and Tenya! Izuku's group are the heroes and Katsuki's group are the villains. Get to the testing site, the rest of us will watch from the cameras." the four went to the testing site and started. Cloud watched attentively as Izuku and Katsuki fought eventually Ochako managed to latch on to the warhead and win for her team.

All Might clapped went they got back and said "Excellent work!" Katsuki seethed and sat down by himself, clearly upset that he lost. All Might announced the next battle and the students went up in groups to do their testing as Izuku went to the infirmary once again. All Might announced the final battle "Cloud and Momo are the heroes and Tsuyu and Fumikage are the villains"

Cloud walked towards the testing area as Momo walked next to him and said "What's your quirk, we need a plan." Cloud looked at her as they got to the started point, he looked up at the camera and back to the hallway as he said "I don't have one." the timer started and Momo was completely stunned. Cloud shot off and ran through the hallways, leaving her stunned behind him, the cameras didn't have sound, so for now she was the only one who knew.

Tsuyu appeared in front of him and shot her tongue out, he jumped over it and smacked her in the back of the head with the end of Kumo, knocking her out before continuing on. He arrived in the war head room and stopped in front of Fumikage, they stared at each other and Cloud slowly unsheathed Kumo.

He flipped it on it's dull side as he held the sheath in his other hand in a reverse grip. Fumikage narrowed his hawk-like eyes and said "Are you going to use your quirk?" Cloud was silent and shot forward, he swung Kumo, forcing Fumikage to jump over it. Cloud swung the sheath over head and hit Fumikage in the head, Fumikage fell to the ground and Cloud kicked him back up.

Fumikage flew into the air and summoned a black hawk-like shadow and shot it towards Cloud, who jumped back and flipped Kumo back to the sharp side as he cut the shadow in half only for it to reform. Cloud frowned and ran in between pillars as the shadow chased him, he circled back and cut the connection to Fumikage before charging at him and slashing at him, he stopped right before his neck and sheathed Kumo before touching the warhead and winning the round.

The buzzer went off and they all returned to the rest of the class, All Might clapped and said "Good work! All of you!" Momo grimaced and Tsuyu rubbed the back of her head, Fumikage looked at Cloud and said "Why didn't you use your quirk? Do you think I wasn't worth it?" All Might looked at Cloud, he didn't look at what everyone's quirk was yet, he saw all of them except Cloud's, he was curious too.

Cloud looked at everyone and walked away saying "I don't have one." as he disappeared into the doorway, leaving everyone shocked. All Might was shocked as well, nobody was expecting that and just stared at the empty doorway, All Might collected himself and said "Alright that's all for today! Take off your costumes and return to class." as he left himself.

Cloud changed and walked to class with Kumo on his back, his secret didn't last long, he sighed and thought about the other kids, maybe they would avoid him now. He was the only one in school without a quirk, maybe he would fall behind them, he clenched his fists and thought to himself, he would be the best even if he didn't have a quirk. He bumped into a pink haired girl, he caught her hand before she fell down as he said "Sorry."

She looked up and said "That's okay, I wasn't paying attention." they both reached for her things at the same time and bumped their heads together, she rubbed her head and Cloud picked up her things before saying "Sorry again." she opened her eyes and Cloud noticed they had cross-hairs in them, she was pretty.

She got up in his face and said "You're eye is pretty cool!" Cloud didn't even flinch and said "It's a scar. You're eyes are beautiful." she froze a bit and squeaked out a "Thank you." before going back to normal and saying "What's your name!" Cloud said "Cloud." she said "I'm Mei Hatsume!" as she pointed her thumb at herself proudly. Cloud said "Nice to meet you. What's this?" as he held up a cube, she took it from him and said excitedly "My new baby! You press a button and it turns into a bowl with chopsticks included!"

She smirked and pressed the button, the cube exploded and her face turned black with soot, she coughed and said "Maybe it wasn't finished yet." Cloud chuckled and said "Can you show me when it is?" Mei brightened up and nodded excitedly as she shook his shoulders saying "Okay! I'll come find you! My class is '1-H'! I'm the tech department!" before waving and running off, Cloud watched her go and found her cute but strange, he liked her, maybe she could help him..

He rubbed his chin as he walked into class thinking about it, the rest all stared at him, he didn't notice and sat down while thinking about what he needed, probably weights. He sighed, he should've asked when he was with her before his secret started spreading around the school. He decided to ask her anyway, worst that happens is she says no. Nobody talked to Cloud, just like he predicted, and class went on as normal.

The next day

The class decided on Class presidents, somehow Izuku was voted as class president and Momo was the vice-president. Izuku vehemently denied the role as he said he wasn't suited for it, he suggested Tenya instead suddenly the alarm sounded and the students started panicking and running out of the room. Cloud was the only only still in the classroom, sleeping on the desk, Aizawa smacked the desk and said "Let's go." Cloud woke up and wiped his mouth before following Aizawa, who said "I heard you told the class yesterday?"

Cloud nodded and said "They asked me if I thought they weren't worth using my quirk on." Aizawa sighed and patted his head as they walked through the empty halls. The duo got outside and found out through Tenya, who calmed the students down, that it was just a reporter, who got inside. Cloud was standing with Aizawa when Mei tackled him to the ground, Aizawa raised an eyebrow and Mei said "HEY! I fixed my baby!" as she pulled out a cube, still sitting on top of him, and pressed the button.

The cube turned into a bowl with chopsticks and Cloud said "Cool!" Mei grinned and said "I heard you don't have a quirk!" Cloud grimaced and nodded and Mei grinned wider as she said "You're perfect!" Cloud tilted his head and Mei explained "We can work together! You wear my gadgets and I make them for you! We'll be like a team!" her eyes shined and Cloud smiled slightly as he said "Okay."

Aizawa coughed and Mei got off Cloud and pulled him up saying "I'll see you later Cloud!" as she skipped away happily with rosy cheeks, Cloud watched her go and Aizawa said "You even have a girlfriend, that was fast." Cloud's face turned red as he said "She's not my girlfriend." Aizawa pointed out "I've never seen you smile before."

Cloud scratched his head and said "Shouldn't that be a good thing?" Aizawa shrugged and said "As long as you're happy I guess. You two would make a good team." Cloud smiled happily and started daydreaming, Aizawa was amused and smacked the back of his head and said "Not that kind of team kid!" Cloud rubbed the back of his head and chuckled.
