C19: Captain Leaf

"Captain Leaf... This is your last few minutes. Any last words?" One of the two from the Midnight asked Elijah.

"Hmm... Nothing. Cause this ain't my last words, it may be yours, though." Elijah stood high, with her bow in her left arm.

She didn't have a quiver, cause she had no arrows with a physical appearance. The world was filled with magic, they simply did not have arrows. They summoned arrows using mana.

But hitting them when they're all focused on her was not an option.

Elijah jumped off the dome, pulling back her bow.

"Hook arrow!" She spoke to her system.

[Switched to Hook Arrow!]

The arrow was switched to a special type of her arrows. She released the arrow and the arrow shot across the air and stuck into a building far away from the rooftop she was on.

"Bye losers!"

The hook arrow pulled her to the dome of the tower she had shot it to. She was pulled towards the building at a remarkable speed. It felt like flying.

Once she had reached the dome, she looked back to see if they were still following and —

BOOM! Another explosion right beside her. They were only 2 rooftops behind, and they were coming fast. From the way the situation was moving now, she might just get caught.

'How fast are they traveling! Agh! I underestimated those crows!'

Elijah had no choice. She had to disappear before the Midnight got her, or... She had to kill them no matter what it took.

"System! Unlock the white eagles!"

[Unlocking the white eagles]

[Energy: 180/200]

'I'm not gonna die here...' she promised herself, standing up with her bow armed, once more.

"If you retreat, we'll make sure to kill you without giving you a hard time." One of the Midnight said in a vicious tone.

But Elijah never took retreat for an answer. Her will was strong, her mission was clear. She needed to avenge her parents and the many poor people who had lost their children, friends, and families.

"Like I would retreat!" she muttered, placing her left foot behind to perfect her mark.

The two assassins in front of her dashed back, as she took her target towards them. Even they were scared of Captain Leaf; who had been quite brutal in her rumors.

"Scattering Eagles!" Her words roared out.

She released the arrow and 6 white arrows flew across the air towards them, changing their directions with the sole purpose of hitting the enemy. It was the specialty of the white eagles.

The arrows followed the two Midnights, not letting even one of them go. But the arrows could be destroyed and for a legend, this was nothing.

"Shield!" One of the Midnights yelled and pushed up both his arms, summoning a magical barrier in front of him.

The 3 arrows easily got destroyed when they hit the barrier.

The other one summoned three magical fireballs and sent a scattershot right back at the arrows.

The arrows blew in midair and the problem was solved. But during their attack, Elijah was free to aim at whoever she wanted.

"Haha... Now I disappear."

She released her bow, with her pinpoint target on one of the assassin's heads. But it didn't hit him, as expected from a Legend rank.

The arrow shot towards his head, but miraculously, he dashed aside at a great speed, defending the arrow.

"Do you think you can kill me using those arrows?" The assassin asked her, summoning a sword to its hands.

"Haha!" Captain Leaf laughed maliciously. "First of all, that arrow wasn't meant to kill."

"Teleport!"

With a blinding flash, the girl vanished, leaving no trace behind. When they looked back, they were too late. The girl had gone out of sight.

"Shit... That was a close one." Elijah muttered to herself, as she walked through the crowd. She had changed the color of her cloak to black, once more to confuse the Midnight and make it out alive.

There was quite the tension around the towers where the explosions took place.

However, they had not spotted Elijah teleporting to the roof where she had shot the arrow.

'Wait...' she stopped in her tracks, recalling one thing she had overlooked. The owl, the letter... The Midnight.

They could only know where she was if they had followed the owl that came from Endier's inn. And...

'Endier... No! Have they taken him hostage! Worse! Had they killed him!?' She was depressed just by thinking about it.

Endier had been the old man who had been accompanying the two girls since their mother and father were murdered.

"Everyone had their different ways, but you... You have them all." Sometimes, Endier had told her this, to encourage her to become a leader... He was the man who encouraged her to become the Captain Leaf everyone respected.

A tear ran down her cheeks, as the memories flashed in her head.

"Only you can protect this village, only you. Only you can be the greatest leader there ever was... So stop weeping over the dead. Start looking forward to the future. Don't let your parents die in vain."

Elijah couldn't keep the tears in. She grasped the sides of her cloak and streams of tears ran down her eyes.

If the Midnight was involved, the higher possibility was death. Those brutal men would never let anyone walk out alive. She wiped her tears from her hands, remembering the old man's words.

He hurried along the road before the Midnight miraculously spotted her once more. She never thought she would be hunted like this, so luck wasn't sure on her side this time.

Alan sat back in the chair, wondering about the womanly voice he heard in his dream. Or was it actually his dream? Or the system?

He didn't slay anything to gain soul power yet, so that option was not yet available. He couldn't see or feel any soul power until he had earned one soul point at least.

Suddenly, the door to their apartment opened. Alan immediately got up to see who it was.

Elijah was standing on the threshold, weeping.

"Elijah! Wha — what happened?" Alan got up from the couch and looked at her. Owl came running into the living room and saw her in tears.

"The Midnight... They've found Endier."
