Unspoken Feelings

"Stay with us for the next couple of days and head back home from here. Why bother driving back in this late June?" the elders proposed as they gathered for dinner in the dining room.

"I appreciate that, Father, but I don't want to impose on everyone," June voiced his concern, though in truth, he hoped to reconcile misunderstandings with Sushi by spending time with her.

"It's no imposition, June. Please stay at least for tonight. You can leave tomorrow," Sushi's father reiterated.

In that situation, June couldn't refuse his father-in-law's request. He shifted his gaze towards Sushi, hoping she would support him, but she pretended not to notice.

Feeling helpless, June turned to Chloe, signaling Chloe.

Chloe caught on, saying, "Exactly, June. You'll both be sleeping in Sushi's room anyway. It's not a burden at all."

Upon hearing this, Sushi raised her chin and glanced at both June and Chloe. June smiled, seeing her surprise as she realized the plan.

"Now talk, you were silent when I needed help. Now see what I will do," June thought, then said, "Yes, that's also correct. Sure, Father, we will stay for tonight," smiling at Sushi with a hint of mischief in his eyes.

"Good decision, June," her mother chimed in.

Sushi felt annoyed and realized that no one was considering her opinion after marrying June. They all seemed to favor him. "Whatever it is, if he agrees, then it's done. Am I the daughter of this house or is he?" she sulked while eating.

After quickly finishing her meal, she went upstairs, leaving June alone as he continued talking with her father.

There was a knock at the door.

Sushi locked her room door from inside but didn't immediately open it upon hearing the first sound. She slowly rose from her seat and approached the door, pressing her ear against it, listening for any further sounds from outside.

June knocked again, speaking slowly as he realized Sushi was behind the door. "If you don't open the door, I'll go downstairs and tell Father you're not opening up," he teased.

Annoyed, Sushi reluctantly opened the door. June entered, and they exchanged glances. Sushi gave him an irritated look and headed towards the bed.

She grabbed a pillow and blanket from the cupboard, then handed them to June. "You can sleep on the couch because I'm not allowing you on my bed," she said sarcastically, before climbing into bed herself.

"Why would I sleep on the couch when we have this big bed and you're my wife?" June retorted, tossing the items he was handed onto the bed.

"June, this is not your house. Unless you want me to kick you out or make you sleep on the floor, go silently and sleep on the couch," she declared with a fierce look.

Ignoring her warning, June approached her. He placed one leg on the bed and gently pushed Sushi onto it, then positioned himself on top of her without making direct contact, using his hands for support. Slowly, he moved his face closer to hers.

Sushi's breathing became heavy as she realized how close June was. Her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. "Why are you blushing?" June smirked teasingly.

Sushi quickly covered her cheeks and was taken aback by his words. "Who's blushing? I'm not. Don't be so full of yourself," she retorted, trying to push him away.

"Can you give me some clothes? I feel like I smell since I didn't get a chance to take a bath, thanks to someone," he blamed her, with a hint of mischief in his voice.

"Why did you follow me?" Sushi pushed him onto the bed and stood up.

"I don't have any men's clothes. You can leave if you want," Sushi said, adjusting her hair.

"I don't think so. Mother told me your room has a spare set of my pajamas that she brought for our wedding night," June stated, glaring at her.

"Why would she say that to him?" her inner voice questioned. Aloud, she replied, "I threw those away."

"I don't think you did," June retorted, getting up and moving towards the cupboard to search.

He was abruptly stopped by Sushi grabbing his hand. "How can you open someone else's personal stuff?" she questioned firmly.

"You're not just anyone, you're my wife," June replied, sliding the door open. As he was about to notice a photo frame, Sushi quickly closed the door, saying, "I'll give it to you. It's not here."

She moved towards another cupboard, keeping an eye on June to prevent him from opening the closet. Opening a drawer, she retrieved a new set of pajamas and handed them to him. "Your toiletries are in the red shelf in the restroom," she added, then stepped away.

Although June noticed a beige frame in the cupboard, it was obscured by clothes, and he couldn't see what was inside.

Silently, he took the clothes and headed to the restroom. "What is she hiding in that closet?" he wondered as he stood in front of the warm shower.

Ten minutes later, he emerged from the restroom to find Sushi fast asleep. Quietly, he approached her and noticed some medication on the bedside table.

"What medicine is this? I couldn't see the name properly. Is she still having nightmares that she's taking sleep medication for?" he mused, tossing it into the nearby garbage bin.

Taking a blanket from the other side of the bed, he made his way to the couch. After adjusting the blanket, he laid down, positioning himself to keep an eye on Sushi. With one hand beneath his head, he gazed at her with a mix of admiration and affection.

Sushi slowly opened her eyes to see what he was doing, only to find a shirtless man on the couch. Hastily, she closed her eyes again. "Why isn't he wearing anything? I even gave him a shirt. Is he trying to show off?" she wondered, pulling a teddy bear closer to block her view of June.

June realized she was pretending to sleep and felt a blush creep onto his cheeks at her antics. Smiling, he closed his eyes, ready to drift off to sleep himself.
