Unexpected Encounters

That night, June was lost in thought as he gazed up at the night sky, wondering how he could win Sushi's heart. He spent hours considering different strategies and approaches, determined to find a way to make her see him in a new light.

On the other side, Sushi found herself unable to shake the memory of her evening with June. As she rolled on her bed, her mind replayed their conversation and every moment they shared together like a broken record. Each thought brought a blush to her cheeks and a giggle to her lips.

A sudden call from Huan brought Sushi back into reality.

"Hey, how did it go? Did you confess to him?" Huan inquired eagerly.

"No, Huan, I couldn't bring myself to do it," Sushi confessed. "His smile was just too infectious, and I felt like he was genuinely happy for the first time in a while. But there's something significant that happened between my sister and him, I just can't figure out what it is," she added.

"How about asking your sister?" Huan suggested.

"Yeah, I tried calling her the moment I got home, but she didn't pick up," Sushi replied. "I'm waiting for her to call me back."

"Alright, well, get to bed early. We have an interview for that internship I applied for both of us," Huan mentioned.

"Yeah, sure. You too, have a good night," Sushi said.

 Day-9

As the clock ticked closer to the interview time, Sushi realized she was running late. She frantically searched for her keys, her bag, and anything else she might need for the interview. Just as she was about to rush out the door, she heard the doorbell ring.

Opening the door, she was surprised to find Huan standing there, a knowing smirk on his face. "Running late, I see," he teased, holding out his hand. "Come on, hop in."

As Sushi and Huan rushed to the interview, they were surprised to see a long line of applicants already waiting outside the building. It seemed they weren't the only ones running behind the schedule.

"We're never going to make it in time," Sushi lamented, feeling her heart sink at the sight of the crowded entrance.

"Don't worry, I have an idea," Huan said, a mischievous glint in his eye.

Before Sushi could protest, Huan grabbed her hand and led her towards a side entrance he had noticed earlier. Sneaking past the line of applicants, they managed to slip inside undetected.

Feeling relieved, Sushi let out a sigh of relief as they made their way towards the interview room. However, their luck seemed to run out when they turned a corner and came face-to-face with June, who was walking down the hallway with board members.

Sushi's heart skipped a beat as she tried to duck behind Huan, but it was too late. June had already spotted her.

"Chloe?", June said with a playful smirk, raising an eyebrow at her attempt to hide.

Sushi and Huan exchanged nervous glances, unsure of how to explain their presence. Before they could come up with a response, Huan quickly grabbed sushi's wrist concealing the tattoo that could give away her identity. She shot him a grateful look, silently thanking him for his quick thinking.

Surprised and with a jealous glint in his eyes, June narrowed his gaze at Huan. "And who might you be, and what are you two doing here?" he questioned, his tone tinged with suspicion. Sushi's stomach churned with anxiety as she struggled to find the right words, but before she could utter a sound, Huan took the lead with a reassuring smile, stepping forward confidently.

"Hi, I'm Huan, Chloe's best friend. And who might you be?" Huan countered, his gaze unwavering.

Proud June extended his hand for a handshake. "Nice to meet you. I'm Chloe's fiancé and the CEO of this company," he declared, causing Huan to release Sushi's hand abruptly.

Unfortunately, Huan extended his right hand for a handshake but didn't release Sushi's hand, which visibly angered June. However, he restrained his emotions, not wanting to cause a scene in his own company. Instead, he turned his gaze towards Sushi, silently questioning her.

Sushi suggested to June, "Why don't we find somewhere quieter to talk?"

As June accompanying them in the elevator to his upper floor, his eyes never taking off from Sushi's tightly held hand in Huan's. Despite the tight space, Sushi stood between them, her heart racing with anxiety. June's hand hovered nearby, seemingly yearning to intertwine with hers.

When the elevator doors opened, June suddenly grasped Sushi's hand and led the way to his room. Upon reaching the room, Sushi swiftly released both of their hands, hurrying towards the restroom.

Sushi's heart raced with panic as she realized she had forgotten to cover her tattoo. "What should I do now?" she muttered to herself, frantically searching her pockets for a band-aid. Her mind raced with worry, fearing that June might discover the truth if her tattoo was exposed.

In a desperate attempt to conceal her tattoo, Sushi's eyes darted around the corridor until they landed on a flower vase. Without a second thought, she knocked it off the table, the shattering sound echoing through the corridor.

As the vase shattered, a sharp piece nicked her arm, drawing blood and effectively covering the tattoo. Startled by the noise, June and Huan rushed out of the room to find Sushi clutching her injured arm. With a worried expression on his face, June hurried over to give her a gentle pat.

With a mixture of anger and concern etched across his face, June swiftly scooped Sushi into his arms and dashed towards the infirmary. His heart pounded with worry as he carried her, his mind racing with questions about how she got hurt and what had happened.

As the pharmacist tended to Sushi's wound, June paced anxiously in the hallway, frantically calling for an ambulance. His voice trembled with urgency as he relayed the details of Sushi's injury, his mind consumed with worry for her well-being.

Sushi stepped out after her wound was treated, she couldn't help but be captivated by June's concern. Why does he care for her so deeply? Was it truly her he was worried about, or was it Chloe? The thought troubled her more than she cared to admit. Standing against the doorframe, she observed June with a blend of admiration and uncertainty, her thoughts filled with lingering doubts.

She approached June slowly, her voice soft as she spoke, "There's no need for an ambulance. I'm fine now. It's just a small scratch."

When June saw her, he immediately pulled her into a hug, but then gently patted her back, his hand lingering protectively. "You need to be careful. How did you get hurt?" he asked with concern in his voice.

Sushi explained, "I was walking backward, looking for you, and I accidentally knocked over a vase. It was just a silly mistake." Her voice carried a hint of embarrassment. "Luckily, it's not bad, I'm fine now." She gently released herself from his arms.

"Okay, I'll drop you home," June said, taking Sushi's hand as they walked to the door.

"No, June, I don't want to trouble you. Huan can drop me off; my home is on his way. But you have to go in the opposite direction, so it will be out of the way for you," Sushi explained politely.

"No, it doesn't matter how much time it takes for me. I want to see you safely home. Let me drop you off," June insisted with a gentle smile.

No, I insist. If you want, we can meet another time. For now, let me go home with Huan, please," she pleaded, her expression softening with sincerity.

With a tinge of sadness in June's expression, he reluctantly watched as Sushi left in the company of his love rival.
