The Rightful Owner for those Memories

"No!! No, Sushi!!! Focus on me, please!! please!!," June shouted.

When June heard the ambulance sound, he quickly got up and ran towards it. When the rescue team arrived and took her outside, June cried as he saw her on the stretcher covered in blood. He held her hand and got into the ambulance, ignoring his wounds. He sat beside her, holding her hand tightly as the paramedics worked to stabilize her.

He became speechless, praying with all his might, "Please wake up, Sushi, please don't leave me." Devastated, he couldn't stop crying.

As they reached the hospital and the doctors prepared to take her inside operation theatre, Sushi tightly gripped June's hand, unwilling to let him go even in her unconscious state.

With tears streaming down his face, June reluctantly released her hand and allowed the doctors to take her inside. He felt utterly helpless, sitting there alone and crying.

It was truly a heartbroken moment for him. He found himself remembering all of Sushi's last words and the moments they shared together: their first meet, dinner on the beach, their nights together, her cute little notes, their marriage, and all their happy and sad moments.

Every memory with her kept replaying in his mind, and his tears wouldn't stop flowing as if he had never shed so many tears in his entire life.

After a few seconds, the nurse came outside and handed Sushi's belongings to him. As June took them, he found a necklace carrying a key. It was the same key he had given Chloe as a bracelet in their childhood.

June became perplexed and confused when he saw the key on that long chain. He had never seen Sushi wear it before; it was so long. Instantly, he remembered her last words: "Half of your Chloe was me, June."

He was stunned, realizing everything in his life was rushing back to him. He understood that he hadn't been wrong about her; it was indeed her he had carried with him. It was her to whom he had tied the bracelet. It was her with whom he had spent all those summers.

Shocked by this realization, he quickly took out his phone and called Chloe.

"Hello, June," Chloe answered.

"Chloe, Sushi was in an accident. Come to the Hope Hospital immediately," June said, his voice broken and trembling, tears streaming down his face.

"What?" Chloe exclaimed in shock before quickly hanging up to rush to the hospital.

After a few moments, Chloe and her family arrived at the hospital.

"June! where is my Sushi?", her mom cried as she held him, asking about Sushi.

"Forgive me, Mother. It was all my fault. They are operating on her," June said, tears streaming down his face as he apologized to the family.

The whole family was in shock, waiting desperately for news about Sushi. When Chloe noticed the blood on June's head, she quickly called a nurse. "June, you're also hurt. Why didn't you get treated first?"

Although he denied moving, not even an inch from the door. He stood there, waiting for the doctors to come outside.

Shortly after, Nivi and Huan arrived at the hospital after hearing about the accident.

Huan was furious. He didn't even care about June's wounds. He rushed in with such speed and hit June, shouting, "Because of you, how much she has to suffer? She lost her mother because of you, and now you're putting her and the baby's life in danger!"

"Huan, stop it," Chloe said, quickly dragging Huan away from June.

June and the family were shocked to hear those words from Huan. June was about to ask, "Baby?" but when the doctors came outside, June quickly ran to them, asking, "How is Sushi, doctor?"

The doctor replied in a sad tone, "We're sorry. She is fine, but we couldn't do anything for the baby. She had a miscarriage. She needs some time to wake up. Please wait here."

June was even more shocked to hear those words. He was in shock about the baby. He walked towards Huan and said, "You knew about this, yet you both didn't tell anyone?". He held Huan's collar with anger.

Sushi's family and Chloe burst into tears after hearing those words from the doctor. June felt helpless and couldn't do anything in that situation. He knew blaming Huan wouldn't change the situation. He walked outside, devastated, not understanding anything that was happening around him.

When Chloe noticed him, she followed and stopped him in the hospital corridor. "June, stop. Where are you going? Calm down," she said, holding his hand.

"Do you also know?" June's voice trembled with tears, and his words made Chloe cry. She couldn't hold back her tears at the sight of his distress and simply nodded her head.

Seeing her response, June stepped back and leaned against the wall, feeling as though he might collapse. He showed the necklace to Chloe and asked, "Isn't this what I gave to you? Why is it with Sushi's necklace? What else have you both hidden from me? Don't you think I deserve the truth after all of this?" he questioned her.

Chloe became speechless and couldn't help but feel pity for June's situation.

"I will tell you. I will tell you everything. But first, can we please treat your wounds?" she said, taking his hand and leading him to the nurse.

Once the nurse had finished treating his wounds, they both sat in chairs in the hospital corridor. "Can you tell me now?" he asked.

"June, I don't know how much Sushi has told you or how much you know. But the truth is, the person you spent your childhood with was not me; it was Sushi," Chloe revealed.

June was speechless upon hearing this revelation. "What do you mean?" he asked, his mind filled with confusion.

"Yes, June. We both were part of your life. But all the moments you shared were with Sushi. My mom used to switch us in the summers without my father and aunt knowing. I would go to my aunt's place pretending to be Sushi, while Sushi spent time here pretending to be me.

That is the reason, I avoided you taking advantage of Vin as much as I could when you visited me during some days, but you never figured it out," Chloe explained.

June went blank as all of his memories flashed in front of him, with Sushi in every one. "That's why I felt her. That's why I was comfortable. How could I not recognize her?" he muttered to himself, hitting his head as he realized the biggest mistake of his life.

He felt both happy and sad simultaneously. Happy because he had loved Sushi all his life and sad because he hadn't recognized the person he loved and had behaved meanly towards her.

"I was so mean to her. Why didn't I realize it was her? How could I not differentiate?" he lamented, feeling immense guilt as he clenched the necklace tightly in his hand and hit it against the wall.

Turning toward Chloe once more, he asked urgently, "Do you have any idea what Huan was talking about just now? About your aunt? Why am I the reason for your aunt's death?"

"June, that's nothing. He was talking nonsense," Chloe replied, trying to avoid the question.

"Chloe, you made a fool of me all these years. I can't tolerate this anymore. I hope you'll tell me the truth now," June demanded.

"June, it's true. You weren't the reason for any of these things to happen, whether it's this baby now or our aunt back then. Do you remember the day you proposed to me? When you sent a text to Sushi that you invited her?"

She wanted to come and tell you everything on that day, but my aunt overheard our conversation. Aunt restricted her from coming to the city, but Sushi insisted on coming. They both had a huge fight.

Sushi still ignored Aunt's words and came to the city for you, but we got a call that our aunt had been hospitalized, and Sushi had to go back, sending me to you in her place.

But things got really messed up that day. Sushi decided to stop contacting us when she saw her mother in the hospital between life and death. And then I left the country, somehow, I gave you her new contact information, but you never contacted her, and you know everything what happened after that."

June went crazy listening to all this. He was filled with anger and pain. "Sushi was blaming me for her mother's death. That's why she never wanted to step into my life again. But I came with this marriage proposal and made things hard for her. Now it's our baby. I took my own child..." he couldn't stop hitting the wall.
