It's Me

"What was all that?" Sushi yelled at Huan, her frustration evident in her tone.

"He had no right to treat you like that," Huan replied, his own anger flaring.

"But you didn't give me a chance to explain. He might have seen us and misunderstood," Sushi tried to reason with him.

Just then, June stormed outside, his expression twisted with rage as he ignored both of them talking.

"June, wait!" Sushi attempted to stop him, reaching out to grab his hand.

June abruptly pulled away, leaving her hand hanging in the air, his eyes blazing with anger as he stormed off. Sushi stood there in shock, stunned by his sudden outburst.

After he left, Sushi noticed blood on her hands. "Where did this blood come from? Did June get hurt?" she wondered, her mind racing as she replayed the recent events in her head.

Frantically, she searched for him, but by the time she reached his car, he had already driven away, refusing to stop even when he saw her calling his name in the side mirror.

That night, Sushi waited anxiously for June, checking the time repeatedly as she paced back and forth in the garden.

"It's almost past midnight. Where is he? He's not even picking up my calls. Let me try again," she muttered to herself, her expression etched with worry.

Tringgg Trinngg...

"Hello, June?" Sushi exclaimed as the call connected.

"Hello, Madam, are you the wife of the owner of this phone?" a voice on the other end inquired.

"Who is this? Where is June?" Sushi asked, her concern mounting.

"Madam, please come and pick up your husband. He's drunk and unconscious. We're closing soon. Please come quickly to FeelLight bar at InterCity," the person replied.

"I'm coming immediately. Please take care of him until I get there," Sushi said hurriedly, booked a cab and rushed to the bar.

"June! June!" Sushi shook him gently, trying to rouse him from his drunken stupor.

"Oh, Mrs. June, why are you here? You should be with Huan. Go, go, go..." June slurred, waving her off with a drunken gesture.

"June, get up. Let's go," Sushi urged, lifting him from the couch and wrapping his arm around her neck. With great effort, she supported his weight and guided him slowly towards the waiting cab.

"Madam, let me help," a waiter offered, stepping forward to assist in carrying June to the car.

Grateful, Sushi thanked the waiter and settled into the cab, holding onto June to prevent him from falling over. She cradled his head against her shoulder.

"Sushi! Sushi!" June continued to whisper her name, his voice filled with longing.

Gradually, he slumped onto her lap, nestling himself as if he were kissing her stomach, holding her hand against his heart. A blush spread across his cheeks as he laughed softly.

"Sushi!!!! Tell him to go away. You can't steal what's mine," he murmured, lost in his drunken reverie.

"Why did you have to drink so much?" Sushi murmured, her voice tinged with concern and regret as she gently caressed June's head. Her hand moved with a mixture of longing and sorrow, expressing her deep affection for him despite the situation.

They finally arrived home, and Sushi managed to help June up, guiding him slowly up the stairs with her arm around him for support.

With great effort, she eased him onto the bed. However, when she attempted to give him some water, he suddenly vomited, spilling it on himself and on Sushi.

"Oh, June, I'm so sorry. What did you drink to end up like this?" Sushi muttered softly, gently removing his shirt to clean him up. As she tried to help him sit in the restroom, he unexpectedly collapsed into the bathtub.

"June, be careful! Are you alright?" Sushi asked anxiously. But as he slowly opened his eyes and saw the blurry figure of Sushi, he instinctively pulled her into his arms, causing them both to tumble into the bathtub together.

She got wrapped around in his arms.

An awkward silence enveloped them. Sushi and June found themselves locked in a gaze, their eyes meeting in the dim light of the bathroom.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still as they simply stared at each other, the water from the tub lapping gently around them. It was as if the world outside had faded away, leaving only the two of them suspended in this intimate moment.

June suddenly, his voice slurred with the effects of alcohol. He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again, trying to focus through his drunken haze.

"Why did you do that?" he asked, his words tinged with vulnerability.

"No, June, why would you think that?" Sushi reassured him, her voice soft with concern. But before she could continue, June interrupted her again.

"Then why did you leave me and go to Huan? Do you like him?" he slurred, his words tangled in the fog of intoxication.

"June you've misunderstood us. Huan is like a brother to me, he's my best friend. He was just helping me to apply medicine. There's nothing between us," Sushi explained, trying to dispel June's suspicions.

June's demeanor softened, and he reached out to kiss her forehead.

"Does it hurt here?" he asked, his actions tender despite his intoxicated state.

"Now your pain will go away since I gave you the medicine," he added, his voice filled with childlike innocence.

Sushi couldn't help but laugh at June's antics.

In that moment, she realized that beneath his bravado and insecurities, he was just a big-hearted soul longing for love and affection.

Despite everything, she couldn't deny the depth of his feelings, even if they were sometimes misguided.

And as she watched him, she couldn't help but think that perhaps, just perhaps, he was more than just a shadow of the man she had once known.

"June, do you want to hear my secret for today?" Sushi asked, gently placing her hand on his cheek.

June nodded with his cute little dizzy face.

She caressed his cheeks gently. "June, do you know? The little girl who used to follow you around and sleep beside you... is me."
