I Warned You

"Good grief, what nonsense did I just blurt out? Get it together, Sushi," she scolded herself, snapping back to reality after the bump. Swiftly changing the topic, she redirected the conversation.

"Uh, I mean, not me! I meant Chloe. She told me that you used to play a lot of video games."

Before he could pose another question, she swiftly changed the subject, "Oh, by the way, Chloe is coming back," she announced loudly.

"What? When?" June's eyes lit up with excitement.

Seeing his reaction brought sadness to Sushi, leaving her momentarily speechless. "Um, yeah, she'll be back this Sunday," she replied quietly.

"Nice, so she's coming back for good, right?" June asked, his tone tinged with curiosity.

"Yeah, that's right," she confirmed.

With a smile on his face, June resumed driving, completely forgetting their previous conversation.

"He seems so happy. It looks like he's really looking forward to Chloe's return. He didn't even notice that I got hurt," Sushi thought to herself, gazing out of the window.

Upon reaching the office, Sushi hastily opened the car door and hurriedly exited without even acknowledging whatever June might have been about to say.

"What's going on? Why the sudden rush?" June wondered, his mind racing as he parked the car.

A while later, June found himself searching for Sushi, a small container of ointment clutched tightly in his hands.

However, upon arriving at her cabin, he discovered it empty. Determined, he scoured the office, eventually spotting Sushi and Huan togethee in the garden area on the rooftop. As he approached, June hesitated, his gaze fixated on the tender scene unfolding before him.

Huan motioned for Sushi to sit, then he sat beside her, tenderly applying the medicine on her forehead.

Sushi's hand clasped his shirt tightly as the ointment stung. Their proximity was striking, their connection evident as Huan blew softly on her forehead, prompting Sushi to instinctively shut her eyes in response.

"Why are you crying? Does it hurt that much?" Huan gently wiped away her tears, his hands tenderly cradling her cheeks. He gently pulled her face closer to his, blowing softly once more.

"Look, it's gone now. No more crying," he whispered in a soothing voice, his demeanor reminiscent of comforting a child who had fallen.

In her distress, she found herself instinctively embracing him, tears flowing freely. Huan held her close, his hand gently patting her back in an effort to soothe and comfort her until her tears subsided.

The sight pierced through June's heart, halting him in an instant. He turned away quietly, left the place with a sorrowful heart, unable to bear witnessing Sushi's embrace of Huan.

"Tell me what happened. What's wrong? I know you wouldn't cry over such a simple injury," Huan asked gently after Sushi's tears had subsided.

"Nothing, it just hurts," Sushi replied softly.

"Where? In your heart?" Huan looked into her eyes, searching for the truth.

"I don't know. I told June that Chloe is coming back for good. He seemed so happy... It felt like I turned his world upside down. I dragged him into this mess. And he is struggling because of me," Sushi confessed, tears streaming down her face.

"So you're hurting because June is hurting?" Huan questioned.

Sushi fell silent, unable to provide an answer.

"It's okay, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. But I just want to tell you that this is not your fault. You are also wronged in this marriage," Huan reassured her.

Then, he hesitated before continuing, "I didn't plan on telling you this before, but I feel like I should. A few days ago, June asked to meet me."

"Why?" Sushi asked, confusion evident, her tears momentarily halted.

"He was curious about you. He asked me about your mother and your family's past," Huan confessed.

"What? Did you tell him?" Sushi asked, her curiosity piqued.

"I didn't want to at first, but I could sense his concern for you, so I told him in the end," Huan replied.

"So he knew about my secret from last night without even hearing it. That's why he has been acting strange for the past two days.

He pities me, which is why he came up with those conditions," she came to a conclusion murmuring to herself.

"What conditions? What are you talking about, Sushi?" Huan inquired.

Without responding, she abruptly stood up and ran from the scene, leaving Huan behind without an answer.

"How could she do this to me? How could she hold another man, especially after the efforts I made for the past two days?

When I tried to hold her last night, she pushed me away, and even this morning.

Does she despise me so much that she ran out of the car to meet Huan?

Then why on earth did she marry me?"

June seethed with anger, frustration evident as he slammed his hand against the wall of his room.

Suddenly, Sushi swung the door open and marched toward June, her anger palpable.

"You knew about my past, why didn't you tell me? Were you doing all of this out of pity for me?" she accused, her voice rising with frustration.

"No, I did it to uncover all of the secrets you're hiding, whether it's your past or your connection with Huan!" June retorted, his face contorted with anger.

"With Huan?" Sushi asked, confusion etched across her features.

"If you wanted him that badly, why did you marry me?

Why did you come into my life and make it miserable?

You already took Chloe away from me, and now you're here to torment me directly!"

June's grip on her shoulders tightened as he stared into her eyes, his anger simmering beneath the surface.

When Huan followed Sushi and witnessed the confrontation, he swiftly intervened, pulling June away from Sushi and raising his fist as if to strike him.

"If you say another word about her, I won't hold back," Huan threatened, his voice filled with fury.

"Huan, stop!" Sushi shouted, stepping between them and grabbing Huan's hand to prevent him from lashing out. She then about led him out of the room, trying to diffuse the tension.

Huan didn't budge, his gaze locked onto June's face. "I told everything about her because I thought you had finally decided to care for her.

But it seems you haven't. You're nothing but a jerk.

I warned you on what I can do if you make her cry, and since you didn't take it seriously, I'll make sure to do it," Huan warned sternly before taking Sushi out of the room.

June stood there in silence grappling with the shattered pieces of his heart, watching as Sushi followed Huan out of the room. His heart felt heavy with a mix of emotions – anger, confusion, and a profound sense of hurt.

As the door closed behind them, June felt a wave of loneliness wash over him. He couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal, wondering how everything had spiraled out of control so quickly.
