The First Night

Meredith sat at the kitchen island alone. She knew she had overstepped with the question about Brayden's mother. But it was all she wanted to know when she thought about it. He had asked and she had answered with spontaneous honesty. She would have thought that he might be a bit hesitant to talk about it but she never expected him to end the conversation and walk out of the room. It only made her want to know more.

She wanted to know about this man that was her husband. He didn't show much emotion and was very matter of fact. He had come off as cold from the start and treated her like a shady business deal with threats to get her to sign her life away. What kind of life would she have? She had made her choice, what little choice she had.
