Experience vs Skill

Experience, what defines it? Is it the amount of knowledge you have gained so far or the amount of time you've spent gaining knowledge? Out of a person who is more skilled than a person who is more experienced, who would win in a fight of abilities? Skill can't be gained without experience, but it can only be gained through the right experiences. Is skill and experience the same thing, or are they completely different? As more experienced is gained, you'd naturally gain skill. It is just a matter of the amount of skill gained. Thus, a person with less experience can gain more skill than one who has more experience, right?
