Lightning

It was the 14th of august of the year 2021.

The withering leaves of the trees slowly feel to the grounds as a chill wind swept through the city. I stood near the window, my head poking out looking at the weather to see if it would rain.

Looking at the cloudy sky, I couldn't help but sigh in annoyance, 'I can't go if it rains...' I thought. I wanted to go to the park with a friend but the sky had other plans.

Instead, I just looked at the cars passing by and enjoyed the scent of coming rain, "Tomorrow it is then..." I muttered.

I was a 19-year-old college student, studying physics in an average college. I had a few friends that I would hang out with at a nearby park.

Just as I wished to step away and close the window, everything went white. My ears began ringing loudly and I felt disoriented, my body went extremely hot then cold then it began shaking a little. Finally, it became completely numb as darkness engulfed me.

I didn't know how long passed but I woke up in a hospital. The scent and shape of the room were unmistakable.

I slowly sat up and found no one in the room beside me.

As I began wondering why I was here, I remembered what had happened. I got confused, 'How? What was that?!'

Soon, a doctor entered the room and looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "It is very rare to be struck by lightning young man, I don't know whether you are lucky to experience that or unlucky..."

I quickly put two and two together, "I was struck by lightning?!" I asked dumbfounded.

The doctor nodded, "Yes, your neighbor was shocked by the loud rumble and checked your apartment. he found you."

'I did give him spare keys...' I thought and nodded while asking, "Anything I should worry about?"

The doctor chuckled, "You are perfectly fine, just the scar on your upper arm." He pointed at me.

I looked at my left upper arm and noticed a pattern that was similar to a snowflake there. 'It looks cool actually...' I thought.

The doctor laughed, "Yeah, it is rather small and looks pleasing to the eye, I am sure it will be a great tale to tell in the future..."

I nodded absentmindedly.

The doctor handed me some papers, "From what the neighbor said, your family is on the other side of the country at the moment. So you have to sign these and..."

I took care of everything and was discharged the next day.

It was hard to believe I had been struck by lightning but the scar was there to prove it so I didn't think much about it. I had upcoming classes and had to put this behind me to focus on those.

I thought about the shocked faces when I would tell the people that I had been struck by lightning and couldn't wait to tell someone.

I returned to the apartment and collapsed on the couch, thankfully, nothing was damaged.

I turned on the TV and began watching a movie to relax. I took a bag of chips that laid nearby and began eating.

It was a movie about pirates and it was showing the 1st part too, I had watched this one before. Pirates of the Caribbean, the 1st movie. It was very old but still great.

As I watched Jack Sparrow enter Port Royal on his sinking ship, I wondered to myself, 'What would it feel like to be there? Not good... the smell would be terrible for sure...'

I closed my eyes and imagined in my mind, how it would be like...

Suddenly, something shifted and I lost my balance.

I fell to the ground, the scent of the sea along with the voices of seagulls and ocean waves reached me.

I opened my eyes and looked around dumbfounded, 'What the...?!'

"Hey, get out of my way!" Shouted someone behind me, I turned and saw a giant of a man who lacked half his hair and teeth looking at me in annoyance and confusion at my clothes.

I quickly scrambled to my feet and stood aside as he passed by after sparing another glance at me with a raised eyebrow.

I was in shock.

I looked at the port with wide eyes, 'This looks exactly like Port Royal in the movie!'

'How did I come here?!'

I tried to think but It was too sudden, one moment I was sitting on the couch comfortably and the next I found myself there.

I tried to remember every detail...

'I just thought about being here after closing my eyes and then it happened...' I thought and closed my eyes.

I imagined my room and how it would feel like to be there.

I felt the shift again and lost balance. It was as if gravity had stopped existing for a mere moment...

Quickly inspecting my surroundings, I saw that I was in my room.

I closed my eyes again and tried again, the shift came and I was back on the port.

I tried it a few times...

Then stopped in my room with a look of disbelief, 'This must be a dream, right?'

I pinched my leg as hard as I could, the pain was crystal clear.

"Holy... I can Dimension travel now?! No... Maybe Universe Travel? Some sort of Teleportation!" I muttered to nobody in particular.

'I have to test this again!' I thought and quickly imagined some move I had watched.

This time I was prepared so I didn't fall down despite losing my balance, I opened my eyes and watched the blue portal in the sky as an Alien army began to invade New York.

The people screamed and panicked and I watched with wide eyes as Iron man passed by a dozen meters above where I was standing.

'Avengers, check. This is legit.' I teleported back to my room in a few seconds.

I sat down on the couch and gulped as sweat covered my body, 'The lightning gave me some sort of superpower... I can Teleport to other dimensions and universes, not only that, but fictional worlds are real!'

I couldn't help but shiver in excitement, 'This is the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me!'

"YEAH!" I yelled in pure joy, a hundred ideas running around my head on what to do...

The Multiverse was at my fingertips, I could go wherever I wanted.

The question was, could I go whenever I wanted?

'Let's test time travel.' I decided.
