Chapter 21: Changing someone’s fate

(Authors note:

Aight, heres the chapter I owe.

Now time to log in back to wuwa.)

(Dante POV)

Atop an abandoned building on the outskirts of the Academic City, the sound of exhausted, rhythmic breathing echoed through the surroundings.

The desolate structure stood as a silent witness to the weariness of its solitary occupant, whose labored breaths broke the stillness of the deserted surroundings.

"Huff, huff, fuck. This is way harder than, I thought." I muttered as I continued practicing thrusting my spear.

With the Spear Proficiency skill and the Great Sage analyzing the embedded information stored inside the skill, I delved into practicing spear-wielding.

Gripping the spear firmly, my hands spaced shoulder-width apart, I anchored my dominant hand near the base while the other controlled the midsection.

Stepping forward, I bent my knees to lower my center of gravity.

Rotating my hips, I harnessed my entire body's momentum to thrust the spear forward.

Pushing off my back foot, the spear's tip shot out in a straight line, driven by the coordinated effort of my legs, core, and arms.

With each repetition, my thrusts grew more fluid and powerful, inching closer to the lethal efficiency I aspired to achieve.

After the 20th repetition, my weak ass body gave up as I sat on the dusty ground.

With my "Sleep is for the Weak" passive skill, currently at level 3 out of 10, significantly reducing my required sleep, I found myself with ample free time.

Glancing at the time on my phone, which read only 4 AM, I decided to continue practicing my spear handling until 6 AM.

So, after a few minutes of rest, I stood up and started swinging my spear vertically.

'I really need that monster meat. My physical strength is too poor,' I thought to myself, as my body continued to move and swing the spear.

"Haaaaaah," I sighed heavily, exhaling a large amount of breath.

My hands trembled as I swung the spear, feeling my strength slipping away with each motion, tempting me to give up and rest.

"No good, thinking about practicing is only making me more tired. I need to change my thoughts," I muttered to myself, realizing the need to shift my focus onto something else.

Deciding to distract myself by conversing with the Great Sage, I inquired, 'How's the construction of the recovery magic going?'

[Notice: Acquisition of data from Kanzaki's mana usage through Nanasen and Yuisen has reduced the self-created Recovery Magic's construction time to 113 hours and 32 minutes.]

'Mmm, not bad. It takes about 5 days, no need to bother with the plot again.' With a nod, I looked forward to learning my first magic spell.

'Great Sage, based on the current data, is it feasible to develop reinforcement-type magic?' Thinking about how Kanzaki applies her mana to the Nodachi when using Yuisen, I contemplated using such a technique on my bones.

[Notice: Development of reinforcement-type magic is currently not feasible. Additional data is required.]

After the brief interaction with the Great Sage, I allowed my mind to wander aimlessly, indulging in random thoughts with the sole intention of diverting my attention from the training I am currently doing.

As time passed, the clock struck 6 AM, and I collapsed to the ground, my breaths coming in ragged gasps.

"Fuck. This is so painful," I groaned, feeling as though my arms were on the verge of detaching from my body.

'Well, at least with the auto-correction from Spear Proficiency and Great Sage, I can now consider myself a real spearman, albeit just a beginner. But hey, I'm not a complete noob anymore,' I remarked with a hint of satisfaction, acknowledging my progress.

'Still, I truly need to enhance my physical condition. I'm in the same boat as Accelerator. Without my shield, even a random level 0 could easily overpower me.' After rising to my feet and stretching, I commanded Great Sage to teleport me to District 22 within the Recreational District.

Glancing around, I couldn't help but notice groups of students eagerly flocking towards various destinations within the recreational district.

Some were drawn to the inviting glow of restaurants, their laughter mingling with the aroma of delicious food wafting through the air.

Nearby, the flashing lights and lively sounds of arcades beckoned to others, their eyes sparkling with anticipation as they prepared for a day of gaming excitement.

Amidst it all, couples strolled hand in hand, their affectionate whispers and stolen glances painting a picture of romance against the backdrop of bustling activity.

'Would you look at that? It's only 6:35 A.M., but the recreational district is already buzzing with activity,' I remarked, marveling at the bustling scene unfolding before me.

As I strolled around, I stumbled upon a cozy family restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Intrigued by its soothing ambiance, I decided to make it my breakfast venue for the day.

Walking around inside, I found a girl who gave me conflicted emotions sitting close to the window as she drank coffee.

'Frenda, huh? Honestly, I really like her character design, sadly her personality can be quite a bitch. Even so, it was a bit sad when Mugino killed her in the series.' I thought to myself, lost in nostalgic memories.

'While I may not be fond of you that much, I certainly dislike Kakine even more. I'll take that guy down to ensure you live, hopefully, you can change and get a better ending.' With conviction, I sentenced Academic City's Number 2 Esper.

The feeling when you see the characters you like die in the series could be quite sad, especially since you can't do anything about it.

But now that I am here and had a chance to save a character that I slightly liked, I feel like I should do something.

Something like disposing of the autistic and retarded number 2.

'Well, this is for Saten too. I still remember how I felt bad when the girl never knew the reason why her new friend suddenly just disappeared.' With these thoughts weighing on my mind, I took a seat and signaled for a waiter to take my order.
