The Flame

~15 June 2006~

It has been three days since I got transported to this world. In two days, Medea and I successfully gathered some information from the locals. The information that I got from the local magic village is that a vampire faction controls Romania. However, there is an internal conflict between the male-dominated vampire faction called Tepes and the female-dominated vampire faction called Carmilla.

By that information alone, I can guess one of the worlds I get transported into. ROB transports me into a crossover that has the DxD world in it. Not only that, but ROB also sent me to the country on the brink of civil war, or maybe the war already started, which made me more uneasy.

"Master"

I snap from my thought when I hear Medea walk inside my office, bringing a tray of tea and snack with her. Seeing her walk inside, I smile at her and see her blush a little after saying my greeting.

"Medea, I keep telling you to call me Lex."

"Okay~ Lord Lex~."

"Haaaaaaa... You do not want to call me with only my name, huh?"

"Nope~ It will be disrespectful of me to call you without honorifics. I'm a servant after all."

"... Very well. So how's your hunt for potion ingredients going?"

"Smoothly. With the Pacifier and Rings, you give me I can go around the world with a problem anymore."

Tri-ni-sette. A three-set of seven artifacts that keep the world in balance or in this case, giving my companion and me a boost in power. Arcobaleno Pacifier, a device that guides the growth and development of life on Earth. However, in my case, the Pacifier is used as an emergency battery that can be used at any time my companion and I want. The energy stored inside the pacifier can be compared to nuclear plants that continue to produce power every second. So the user of the Arcobaleno Pacifier can continue to use their flame without getting exhausted.

The Mare Rings serve as the horizontal axis of the timestream, granting the user of the Sky Ring the Ability to see himself across all parallel realities. This is represented in the meaning of Mare, "Ocean," explaining the all-encompassing influence on the timeline. However, in this world, The Mare Rings have a different meaning than the original. The "Ocean," in this case, is a gentle force that protects the underwater life and also a giver of life. Because of this, the Mare Rings give the user an invisible barrier around their body and also give them an inhuman healing ability, just like Aura from RWBY.

Lastly, the Vongola Rings The Vongola Rings serve as the vertical axis of the timestream, granting the Sky Ring user the ability to harness the knowledge and abilities of the previous holders of the Ring. Just like the other rings, Vongola Rings also have a different ability than the original. If the original ring gives the user the knowledge and ability of the previous owner of the ring, then my Rings amplify the user's attack five times the original. It also makes the user understand any skill the user wants five times faster.

"Good, Good. How is England 's magical community compared to Romania?"

"Bad. Really bad"

"Really?"

"Yes. They still get haunted by this so-called dark lord. Do you know the name of this Dark Lord?"

"No, do tell me."

"Voldemort. Hah! What kind of name is that!"

I look at Medea with a surprised expression. With this information, I know that this world also has a wizarding community like in the Harry Potter book.

"I see, Is there anything you can tell me about the wizarding community in England?"

After hearing my question, I can see Medea's expression become serious.

"Yes. The Wizarding Community in England can be considered poor in terms of power. However, I must say that their spell is rather versatile in their use. Their so-called hellfire 'Fiendfyre' is not a fire coming from hell but rather a C-rank spell that even low ranking servants can take with a problem. The Killing Curse of them can be considered a low-level instant death spell, but it can be blocked with any physical object. So using simple earth magic to raise a wall of stone is enough to block their so-called killing curse. People also can dodge the attack as it was not the fastest spell. I even consider it a rather slow spell."

"I see. How about their physical prowess?"

"Pathetic. I have a feeling that a high school soccer captain can beat most of the people in that community in terms of physical power."

"I see, then it's good."

"Is there something wrong, my lord?"

"No, nothing. It's just I know the Wizarding World from my previous world."

That's right. I already told Medea about my origin and how I get transported here in the other world. I also tell her that she is also coming from a different world because I decided to summon her. That time, I thought that Medea would get angry at me, but she only thanked me because if not for me, then she would be dead.

"I see, so you want confirmation."

"Yes, I just want to confirm the power of the Wizarding World. In the book, the Killing Curse can kill any living being if it hit its target. However, after you saying that the killing curse is only a low-level instant death curse, I can now breathe in relief."

"I see. A high-level dead curse is indeed an annoying spell to face. But don't worry, My Lord, My Master, My beloved, as the spell is not a high-level dead curse."

"Thank you, Medea."

I walk toward her and kiss her in the lip.

"I'm counting on you to protect me."

"Y-Yes!"

~Next Day~

I duck low on the ground as a magic beam flies past me.

Medea and I are currently training in the basement inside my castle. The basement is empty, so we decide to change it into a training ground with the help of Medea magecraft and my lightning flame. That is also the reason why we are training in the first place. Not only do I have a Sky Flame, but I also have the other flame as well, however, the other flame is rather weak compared to my Sky Flame.

With the help of Lightning flame and Medea Magecraft, we successfully create a training ground that is not easily destroyed.

I snap from my thoughts when another wave of magic beams appear in front of me. I quickly create a green barrier to block the incoming attack before creating a tentacle made of mist flame to distract Medea.

At the same time I create a few clones of myself with the Mist Flame and let them charge at Medea while I charge a sky flame in my palm like the Tsuna use. A few seconds later, I release a burst of sky flame toward Medea, who creates a mist barrier in front of her. However, her barrier is not enough to hold my attack as it slowly punches through it. The reason is that I use the Flame of Wrath. By combining both Sky and Storm flame, I get myself a sky flame that destroys anything on its path.

"And you lose, Lord Lexian."

What?!?

I look behind and see Medea pointing her staff at my heart while smiling sweetly.

"You must remember your teaching, my lord. You say that Mist Flame is the most sneaky out of all flame. So you should also remember that I can also create a solid illusion of my body and give it a little bit of prana to continue firing a spell at you."

"Haaaaa… I guess you are right. It looks like I still have a long way to go, huh?"

"Yes, but I know that you will reach it without a problem."

"Thank you for sparring with me Medea."

"It's my pleasure, but I must say that the way you use the Rain Flame to cover the entire arena to weaken my attack slowly is tricky to counter."

"Yeah, that is the reason why Rain can be considered the flame that suitable for assassination. The Rain Flame user can mask their bloodlust and intent to kill by using the Rain characteristic. Not only that, but the Rain Flame also doesn't have any smell, unlike the others, and not many people can sense them."

"Can you tell me more about the flame?"

"Well, let's start with Sky, the rarest and the most precious type of all because the sky's the one that glues and keeps the other elements together. Without a sky, the other element cannot exist. Imagine a world without a sky. Would clouds exist? Without a cloud, there won't be a storm, rain, and lightning either and no mist, which usually comes in hot and cold conditions if there's no snow from the sky and the sun melts and evaporates the water. The sun is a star in the solar system so it can exist on its own, but without a sky to protect us from its full power, we are cooked alive."

"I see."

"Yup. Not only that, but they also have their instinct to follow when awakened."

"Instinct?"

"Yes. Storms tend to be hot-tempered while others remain cool until they finally snap and explode. But the latter is very rare, but due to this, they are scarier than their hot-tempered fellows. It was kinda like the eye of the storm."

"It was like someone I know."

"They are also perfectionists. They do everything they can to master things they took an interest in with incredible fixation and precision and make it theirs, make sure they look good to go regarding vanity issues. When given a job, they do it so well that employers often see their names on 'to-be-promoted' lists. They had to do everything perfectly, or they won't quit until they achieved their desired standard."

"Definitely someone I know."

"Who?"

"Asclepius. He is the type that always keeps his cool through the entire journey, but when someone manages to piss him off."

I see Medea begin to shudder as she says that."

"It will not be pretty to see. He is also a perfectionist in his craft to the point that he will not sleep if his potion or medicine is not perfect."

"I see."

"So, what about the other flame?"

"The next one is the rain. They have a cool, level head, and if they get angry, what we call 'tranquil fury' shows. This enables them to think clearly despite being royally-pissed off, like from a mild drizzle to a downpour. Then their counterpart is the equivalent of a heavy downpour...having foul tempers and tends to be very aggressive like the downpour they represent until they calm down."

"It's almost the same as Storm Flame, right?"

"Yes. That is why if someone both pisses a Storm and Rain at the same time, they will go. Their body will be Disintegrated to the point not even ash left, but before the victim dies, they will get tortured by the Rain to the point the victim wants to embrace death."

"Storm and Rain can make a terrifying duo, huh?"

"Yes, they are. Lightning-types are people with incredible stamina and endurance. Due to this, they have the instinct to shield their frailer companions with themselves and their power...or attract trouble to them to buy others time. They also strike fast and hard; you won't see them coming if you dare to harm what they care for."

"Just like Heracles before he meets his doom because of the curse of Hera."

I see Medea look down in sadness and anger. I place my hand on her waist and pull her to my side to give her the comfort she needs right now.

"Let's move on, shall we? Clouds are drifters and loners by nature...or very social. But it's rare to meet a very social cloud, and these social clouds are free spirits. Clouds are also those whose loyalty you have to prove you're worthy of. If you earn their trust and loyalty as friends or lovers or even marry a Cloud-person, you can be sure you have a real treasure."

I don't know what happens, but I can see Medea's body become stiff after I say that.

"Then there's your type, the Mist. They tend to be mysterious, manipulative, or into tricks...and some are insecure and wish to hide things about them they don't want others to see in fear of being shunned, isolated, and left behind so they tend to be introverts. They are the second most-difficult element to obtain the trust and loyalty of second to the Cloud. Still, among all seven types, they are the first to come to their powers as Mists are psychic with their psychic power always being Hypnosis which goes well with Illusions, their main power. That is why I'm proud of you for telling your story to me. For you to overcome your nature is something to be proud of. You are a strong woman, Medea."

Hearing my praise, I can see Medea preening at my compliment.

"A Sun nurtures. With their warmth, living things thrive, and without warmth, living things get cold, get sick, and die in that order. There would be a Sun who would nurture those that needed nurturing...and there are those who are very picky with what they nurture. Think of this as teachers preferring to teach geniuses and those with determination to better themselves and leave slow-learners and slackers behind without a care for their incomplete growth."

"And the last one?"

"The last one is Sky Flame. A Sky is very understanding, accepting, and welcoming, encompassing everything from your good traits and your flaws as a person. They draw people in, and when their hearts touch a Sky's, the Sky embraces and never let it go; thus, their flames reach out to the Sky to harmonize and form a bond. It's why they are the heart of the elements, and everyone is protective of them because they would accept even people others would frown upon and shun, thus they have somewhere and someone to go to and not feel alone anymore, but they happen to be a scarce element. If anyone attacks a person's Sky...you can just expect six or more to dish out revenge on you, your fellows, and anyone who had anything to do with you as even doing that is not even enough to pay for costing them their Sky. The only person who would accept and love them for who they are. If a Sky is lost, their guardians will mourn as there won't be another for them. Then there's another type of Sky who are...very picky...with people they choose to be with."

I take a deep breath after explaining the sky trait to Medea and look at her right in the eyes and say.

"That is why Medea, you don't need to force yourself. Be yourself. Don't be afraid to express yourself. I'm your sky. I will always accept the way you are."

I smile at Medea, who looks at me with a red face before placing her face on my chest and mumbling something I can't hear.

"What is Medea?"

".... Do it?"

"Pardon me?"

"... Do you want to do it?"

"You know that we already did it last night, right? And it still 9 AM"

"...."

"Fine. Come on"

Being a Sky is hard, huh? Especially if you have a guardian that always needs to go to a bedroom. What can I do? I'm their sky, after all.
