Virginia and Kurt had been sleeping together for the past five years. My skin crawled at this particular revelation; Kurt had cheated on me while we were together, which was no surprise if you think about it.

Virginia had met Kurt in some seedy human bar on the other side of the country. Craving the human life, Virginia had tagged along with some human friends from high school and came across a smug Kurt, who was revelling in the human attention he was getting.

She admitted her initial dislike, claiming that the first thought that crossed her mind was anger. She knew all about Dante's problems with Kurt, and was close to leaving. But in the end she stayed in town for a few more days, pretending she was human for a little longer.

They crossed paths again a few nights later, in the same bar. This time, Kurt was cordoned off in the VIP area and in the company of a bloodsucker. The infamous Kristoff Carver.
