Chapter 29. Rekindling The Romance-2

My jaw becomes slack, mouth wide open with shock. I guess that explains Chastity's sudden change of tact, back at Midnight Fire. Heck, she even tried to stop me from leaving. Not to mention Ryan's withdrawal; the reason for his outburst. I really don't know how to react to this.

"I'm guessing things didn't go very well..." I hesitate. "Since Ryan is sulking here, and Chastity has left for Redfern again."

"Yeah, you got that right." Dante clicks his tongue. "On the upside, it opened Chastity's eyes. She realised that you're not so bad after all. Now you know for sure; there's nothing going on between us."

"Still doesn't explain what you've got hidden down that yellow brick road." I blurt out, unaware of boundary I should be sticking to.

Dante becomes guarded, once more. I wince internally, hoping I haven't prodded the beast within. After a few moments of silence, he clears his throat.
