Chapter 28. Not Just Any Old Knight-3

"There's-- there's two rogues past the border, not far from here." I whisper. "I tied one up. Someone needs to keep an eye on them..."

A flash of white fur signifies Lightning's departure. The lynx seems to understand my words, heading for the patrol border near the amber lights.

"We need to stop the bleeding." Dante mutters to himself, scanning the area. "Let's get you home, quickly."

"But-- you don't know where I live." I blurt out, eyes unfocused on his handsome face.

"I sure do." He smiles momentarily. "How else have I been spying on you, love?"

"I've missed you." I sigh emotionally.

Dante pauses, his gaze growing intimate. Pacing himself, he gingerly lifts me into his thickset arms, taking care not to jostle my bandaged leg. My teeth chatter uncontrollably, Dante's body heat warming me up. I huddle into his chest, as he breaks into a sprint, crossing the border to River Moon.
