Chapter 28. Not Just Any Old Knight-1

The sinister wolves edge closer, eerily bathed in the amber lights from the territorial divide. Three sets of pitiless black eyes survey me, and I can tell from their stance; these are no ordinary wolves. Rogues. Instead of charging towards me, they keep their distance, assessing me.

I have nowhere to hide, indefinitely strung up and defenceless. With the blood continuing to rush to my head, it won't be long before I pass out...and I may never live to wake up. Part of my training is based around transforming in emergencies - but hanging upside down wasn't discussed in the course content. In such a position, I can't focus long enough to will my wolf to change.

In desperation, I hoist my upper body up, struggling to keep my core strong. Patting down the pockets of my cargo pants and utility belt, I search and search; praying I find something I can use to cut me loose.
