Final Supper?

<18th 2232 October,>

The awaited day had finally beckoned on us, after so many hardships and struggles. It looked as though these past few days had gone by so seemlessly, but it was just the fruit of our patience and perseverance, the Doc's unwavering resolve, Delilah's continuous motivation and support, the Guru's help from the shadows. It was all for me, and I hate to believe it, I hate to admit it, becuase I hate myself. Apparently, I'm quite a recluse, it seems I have helped alot of people in need indirectly with my actions and doings, I thought I would never see the day where I recieve praise for something I did which was morally correct; I didn't know myself if what I was doing was right or wrong, but in the end, we still ended up here, I'll rebuke it, and won't agree, I am not deserving. The least I can do is honor these people's wishes who are going to travel over 2000 miles just to meet me.

The multiple aircrafts funded by Guru had finally set foot on the land of Oceanica, and Doctor Palmer was there to greet them and introduce them to this transcendent scenrery, worthy to call 'a piece of heaven'. Unfortunately I could not be present at the greetings due to my condition, however, in a few moments time, it ended up happening exactly how I expected it to be, the estatic people of See Green city and my trusty donor had already rang the doorbell to Palmer residence, and once dear Delilah rushed to release the chains seperating us, a near earthquake occured, as the people bombarded the house like a flood, coming straight where I was sitting. I was horrified but the Doc eased things down a little.

"EVERYONE CALM DOWN! This is too much, no matter your excitement, Robert is still in a grave condition, even one flick of a finger could damage him."

"Seriously Doc, I'm not that weak."

"Besides, this puny house can't accomodate for even 4 people, how do you think 50-60 will fair. Don't worry, you'll for sure get a chance to meet him. One of our honorary comrades has arranged a buffet for us at a prestiged resturaunt, we'll be the ones covering the charges so please enjoy to the fullest in this short visit."

Everybody take a gasp and head out one at a time, meanwhile Doc makes the move, "Hey Brandon, son, come, meet the one who you'll be giving another chance to live."

The young boy, nervously makes his way over to me, with his head down, he accidently trips and falls one me, as weak as I was, I could atleast avoid him from hitting my chest by covering it with my hands, otherwise it would have been fatal....

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, you're not hurt are you, I'm really sorry Mr. Oppenheimer."

*cough*cough*

"It's fine kid, it's fine. So...Doc had alot to say about you, and I know you have things to say to me too. Go on, I'm all yours."

He led out a sigh of relief and had a pensive expression, he was a lot less nervous than before, silent at first, it didn't seem he knew how to put into words what he was trying to say, he kept mumbling to himself as I ask if something's wrong, then he finally lets it out.

"Thank you."

Those were the 2 words he was trying to say since the past 5 minutes, since the time he came here, since the day he found himself indebted to me.

"I'll give back those words soon enough, you should rest kid, we have a supper to plan."

The hour of moonlight was nigh; with a dazzling seaside night view and the screaming and screeching, not so pleasent squacking of seagulls, on the coast of the southern ocean, a dining area engrossed with the atmosphere of a cruise ride, floors made of rich mahogany that added a slight warmth and sophistication to the place, dimly lit lamps accompanied by the illuminating moon, with a hubbub of discussion, laughter, and gossip, and clattering of forks and knives, spread across a wide and narrow table adorned for dining, for our honored guests of the hour, the scene was set.

"This.....is.....AMAZING!"

Brandon enthused loudly while interrupting everyone's talks, Doctor Palmer again took the initiative, "Sorry to disturb everyone, he's just excited like you are, continue, without hesitation. Ok Brandon, you need act a little mature young man, you can't be like this for the rest of your life."

"I'm sorry, seems my siblings have spoiled me while growing up."

Doctor Palmer utters out of curiosity, "Speaking of your family Brandon, why aren't they here with us today, it's a big day for you tomorrow, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say."

"The thing is, as you know my parents were effected greatly from the explosion, and they were already victims of ARS, so they can't really make the trip in their condition and my sister and brother are staying there to provide for them and take care of them, but they graced me with their wishes and even gave me a protection amulet, so I won't be upset or whine because of their absence, I'm here to help and I'll do just that."

Seems like I had made the right choice to choose Brandon....

The dinner had already effectuated moments before we arrived and the patrons were munching on their grub left and right, until an aromatic surprise was brought to the table and everybody went silent, the divine and exotic smoky smell of this dish flaired up every person's nostrills as each man, woman and child alike grow closer and closer to this scrumptious meal, the eye-catching and pulchritudinous presentation done on the inordinate tray, it wouldn't let anyone on the table sit idle, the drools just won't stop; but it wasn't time to devour this thing yet, the chef himself came with a knife and spatula, and gently, with his swift movement of hand, letting just the weight of the knife alone cut through the soft meat, he revealed a moist, white and glistening inside that he kept on serving on our plates, topping it off with some garnish and salt, and just like that the gigantic meal from the jumbo tray had disappeared and soon found a place in these people's stomachs.

"A fish....eh?"

I say to the Doctor, to which he comments, "Oh Robert, you know you can't eat fatty or oily foods right, and it's the day right before surgery, so strictly no eating, no matter how much you crave it."

"Oh I'm craving absolutely nothing Doc; 2 boiled eggs without the yolk, boiled rice and grilled shredded chicken, that's all I get don't I. And you know that I have been consistent throughout these days, so you seriously think this is enough to tempt me, once I'm treated and perfectly in good shape, I'm going to go to town on every single possible cuisine introduced in this world. Ah.....just thinking about it makes my mouth water."

"And you said you weren't craving anything.", The Doc grins and continues to engage in conversation with me. The moon still shines high as the hour of midnight approaches, the esteemed guests finish wrapping up their dinner, and start leaving their seats, in the small bracket of time I get, I take the oppurtunity to ask the Doc, "Hey, what if...what if the surgery doesn't go well, I know you trust the Doctors, I know you trust me and Bradon, but just what if we think this will 99.9% work for our advantage, and then that 0.1% will make its strike. Then this meal tonight really would have been my final supper."

The Doc leds out a sigh and reassures me nothing of the sort would happen, and that I was being too much 'pessimistic'. Then I said, "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds Doc, but, the pessmist fears it is true."

"What are you trying to say, Robert? I don't think I quite get the picture."

"You know, sometimes Doc, things shouldn't be left like the same way they were seen before, what does it matter if uptil now this whole process went smoothly, why would we think it's going to go exactly as it has till now. I'm just saying, 'doubt', is important."

The Doc only had one thing to say at that time and that was, 'We'll see tomorrow...", and that's how our supper ended.

*sigh*

"I'm scared."

*beep*beep*beep*beep*beep

"He's waking up.....Doctor..."

"Get my...quick...we need....."

"Huh....What's this, faint voices, loud beeps, very loud beeps, what is happening."

Soon these noisy beeps became even more loud, as the voices began to become muffled.

*pant*pant*pant*pant*

"Wha.....hu...eh...m"
