Chapter 2

Marie knew from the start with Achylis something bigger was going to happen. What she didn't know was she wasn't going to be capable of anything as every time she tried to do anything it came back to haunt her. Her body wouldn't ache it felt as if it were on fire. The blood ran from her face before she felt her blood sugar drop drastically. She kept walking as if she didn't seem to notice but she hadn't eaten in what felt like days but that still didn't stop her even though she felt as if she were going to black out.  She couldn't count the morning she had made the eggs and bacon for everyone she barely had anything compared to them. What she could still hear was the voice in her mind as she closed her eyes walking beside Nathan as she winced from the voice that only rang out inside her mind before the weird feeling went down her spine yet again.

" You sure you're alright?" She only couldn't put into words really of what she could say even if she wanted to but she still managaed to fake a smile. " Yes, even through death i'll be fine."  The sarcasm showed as he only laughed at the way she said it. " Marie didn't feel as though she was herself but at the same time she felt amazing. It didn't scare her as much as it probably should but what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. What she was inside was greater than whatever Aizora was and she knew this. She just didn't know what it was or who; maybe it was just the dark part inside of her that wanted out.

She breathed out heavyily before feeling as if something else shifted in the atmosphere. She looked around even behind them from where they had walked before not seeing what else was there. By the time they had even gotten to the nearest city Marie couldn't even take it as all she wanted to do was scream from the voice in her mind. Everything didn't just seem wrong but it also felt like De-jah ju. She wasn't sure whether or not to fake she was sick or to scream and have whatever it was inside of her come out. She found herself not just looking at Nate because he was cute but because she wondered if he knew anything that had happened and where it was coming from. She hated the things that only kept her from following without feeling hallow and numb. 

She grabbed her knees hunching down breathing heavily before thinking about water and sitting down. Noticing Nathan wasn't doing it either as he only breathed heavily she stood up before she almost fell over against him. " I'm sorry I guess I'm just not feeling well today."  Nathan held her arm pulling her with him as she felt more and more weak with every step. " You really don't look to good. When was the last time you ate? She knew it wasn't that. She didn't ever eat that much. " I'm proabably dehydrated. I ate this morning. I need to sit down. "  Nate pulled away before looking at the ground then at the people that didn't seem to nice as they stared with disgusted looks. " I'm going to get us some water. I'll be right back."  The only thought that went through her was why did he have to say it like she was a small child that didn't know better.

What is it going to take? They wouldn't know to blame you. Let me burn the world."   She knew it wasn't just the voice inside her as she felt the wind change direction in the same instant as Nathan looked out the window from the Gorben Water shop at her. He watched but not for long as he also grabbed snacks. Marie felt like something was being sucked out of her only she felt as if she couldn't breathe as she fell over before whatever it was caught her in an instant. She felt diffrent and not in a way she should feel. Mentally she wasn't just there but she felt the power radiate through her and if anything she didn't just feel invincible but dangerious. Not once did she ever want to kill anyone but now it was all that went through her head as she could hear the screams from her friends as death came apon them.

Screaming out in her head she feared for herself as she also wanted nothing more than be where she was. She didn't even realize she was standing till Nate asked if she felt better and boy did he look good with the way he held himself.  The shirt hugged him well as the bag he held in his hand made him show his muscle in his arm.  She groaned inwardly before quickly looking away not realizing whatever suddenly happened before wasn't there at all.

" I got Water and whatever this is that looks good. Here. " He handed her a bag of what looked like chips but when she flipping it she noticed it was nuts. She laughed a little before he handed her the Water.  " I'm going to find some directions. " He got up before she could really respond to him. Walking away she could only look after him as she only thought to herself. She felt to relaxed in that moment but that was only because she felt like  she had breathed in his air instead of just the air that smelt like horse and dirt. It wasn't just that but it smelt like trash that got worse by the stench of a dead animal.

By the time he even had came back she had drank  half her water that was bigger than a 20 oz.  " Ugh!" She yelled loudly before turning her head looking right at him.  " Where'd you go exactly? " Instead of answering her he pointed towards the man to seemed to only wave at the both of them as if waiting.  " he's got a map. " He cocked his head in to the side wanting her to follow as she only thought it weird before really following.  " Are we really following him?"

She didn't get it he didn't seem like the type that would have a map for them but Nate seemed certain of it. " Come in I'll be a minute. " He disappeared before they got a chance to call after him as Marie gave Nate a look of horror before she grabbed herself looking around the small yet two story home.  " I don't get it.  His personality changed.  You didn't see that? Thats not normal. " Marie spoke more under her breathe as Nathan didn't understand her at all as he also looked around at the owl bags that hung from the hooks next to the door that lead back outside. " Can we leave." 

" This doesn't feel right Nathan. Somethings wrong." She didn't get it he seemed homeless by the way he dressed and seeing everything around her only made her want to steal it as she found herself grabbing an owl backpack and grabbing the rich looking necklaces and braclets as well as the rings. She grabbed handful filling up the pack as she found some money in a drawer. Nathan on the other hand went through the cabnets as pistols and amo just laid there. He cou.dn't help it he grabbed it putting it in his pants before seeing a nice jacket as he grabbed the womans as well.

" Marie." He yelled it as he heared the guy from the other side of the house or whatever they were in as he grabbed her forcing the door more open as they both ran for their lives. " Hey!" The man only shouted screaming after them as Nate disappeared from in front of her. Not only was she suddenly freezing but she could hear him behind her. She wasn't fast enough as something yanked her hard backwards before a scream escaped her before she dangled almost 10 feet over the rail. " Nate! Nat- Ahh!" She couldn't scream after that as tears fell before something  black yet poisionious snaked through her.

Nate couldn't understand what he was even looking at when he turned around in horror. He thought it was the man that was hurting her but what he didn't know was it was Marie herself. " Let her go you Psycopath!" He yelled shooting the gun he found at him not thinking clearly as the man was already dead. He wasn't aware of the outcome as Marie only fell towards the ground but not as fast. He barley had time to really think as his arms went around her before twisted them both in the air before he hit the ground as she laid on top of him. Groaning and coughing up for air he knew he was fine physically but seeing Marie in his arms eyes closed worried him more.

4 years wouldn't take me this long to complete anything. If I want it I take it."  Marie didn't understand as she was on confused and frightened of the unfamiliar place that didn't seem to alive if anything it looked dead and gloomy. She couldn't see clearly but she could make out a siluette of a woman only she didn't seem right. She couldn't see a face but she could hear her voice clear as day. It seemed to echo but she wasn't sure what she was more terrirfied of; Her or the fact that she wasn't anywhere she recognized. " You don't get to tell me no, you don't get to corrupt me. I am you and theres nothing you are more capable of than destruction. " Before she  knew it a flash of yellow hit her hard as the pain went right through her as she saw the ugly face that would terrify her for eternity. She only couldn't get the deranged look of the eyes that held so much power as she screamed. 

Marie didn't know what to do other than scream as that was immiadtely cut short as a arm went around her body as a hand pushed against her mouth. She fought but she was to weak but that wasn't going to stop her before she felt something else and she wasn't sure what to do when Nathan suddenly twisted her faster than she could blink. " Marie calm down it's just me. You're having a nightmare, just breathe."  They were to close for comfort but if anything she understood that she must've pushed a little to hard. He looked tired but he was awake which said a lot considering the tank top on him look good but he hid what she really wanted to see. " mmhm."   In the moment he looked at her lips but she knew he wasn't like that but she wished he were, it would make it easier for her.

" Just get some sleep it's been a long day and it's still a little early." She questioned that before turning back over listening to his breathing as he wasn't anywhere near sleep. If anything even without hearing his heart beat she knew she had scared him more than she had scared herself. It got her to think back even though he was a good distraction. Why would the voice inside her want to distroy something that was good in life and have nothing instead? Did whatever it was want to be so alone? She'd rather be alone than have anyone be fake to her. She felt that Aizora was only her friend to make herself feel better, Aizora didn't understand how to use that power she had, Only Marie was waiting for the perfect timing.  Sleeping soundly after the nightmare she moved in her sleep only to have Nathan move as well. She awoke at dawn with an arm drapped around her waist.

" Nathan?" Her tired voice rang out as she questioned how ugly it was before movement and the arm was gone around her. They were in a small tent however that shouldn't have been an excuse. She still questioned why she couldn't remember anything as she sat up wondering why she was still in the same outfit then again Nathan didn't seem like the guy to want to even touch a girl. If anything his mind seemed preoccupied with something else that she couldn't see. It bothered her that she tried so hard to read him but she couldn't tell what he was even thinking even when they would both look at each other.  " I'll leave you to get ready. " He only sounded respectful as she only needed a much needed bath before putting on cleaner clothes.

" Is there a lake or something near by? I need to freshen up if anything." She knew she smelt bad and it made her wonder why he even bothered sleeping next to her knowing she did. It made her feel bad as she sat there akwardly having the faintest heart attack as she didn't want to see the look on his face. It didn't seem to change as he spoke about a waterfall that was at least a mile away. " Ugh. fine. "  Marie grabbed her shoes before hoping that it wouldn't take long because she could smell the stench radiating from her. She only hoped she didn't just scare nathan off just because of it then again he did kind of reck as well. She wanted to laugh as a devilish smile broke out across her face just because she liked what she thought of as she looked at him through her eyelashes.

" Do you ever miss the adventures with family?" Nathan wasn't just asking Marie as his only thought was of Sam and the adventures that made him what he was. He missed him and everyday only made him wish he was still with Sam but he was thankful of the new friendship as well as the girls he made contact with on the way.  " Working with the enemy how fun; with every superhero comes a villian."  Questioning the voice she only tried to get the question he had asked her to form an answer but what was to be said when she felt as if she were nothing to everybody.

" My family isn't like me. That hectic whirlwind of AIzora and Achylis was the only thing that I know about of an adventure. " She looked in between everything around them as her attention went towards what he went through. She could tell it wasn't just bothering him but it saddened her to see the look on his face before he changed the expression. He never got the lies his brother made but it would've made him punch him in his face but knowing him he would hug him first. " My brother would go insane if he knew about everything I'm doing. "  He smiled as a chuckle escaped from his lips as her eyes looked at them as she only wished.  " And we are here." It took her a minute before realizing that an entire lake stood out past the logs that laid out at her feet as she saw the beautiful waterfall as the mer sound made her relax.

" Marie. It would be better if you got in instead of just listening." She knew what she wanted to do and just jumping in with her clothes was what she wanted to do considering she needed to wash them anyways. She dropped her backpack from her shoulder before removing her shoes. She saw Nathan taking off his shirt from the corner of her eyes but trying so hard not to stare was hard as she didn't care about the clothes that would hug her if she did jump into the lake.   She stood about to walk towards the lake as An arm stopped her but before she could turn Nathan picked her up over his shoulder as he only walked towards the lake. " Nathan put me down!" She beat on his back as she couldn't even hear if he had even said anything as his feet and then his thighs were surrounded by the water as the last thing she wanted was his hand somewhere where it wasn't supposed to be in the first place. " Ah!" 

Marie held her nose and mouth closed as her body hit the water as she felt the body that dove right above her. The water was deep but thankfully wasn't to toxic to drink.  She only knew that when she came up for air as her shirt clinged her as the pants she knew were going to be hard to get off she shhould've been smart about this but instead she had already regretted getting into the lake with clothes on. " The funny part was my family never seemed to care about me and on top of that even though all of this is kind of terrifying at times its amazing." She breathed it all out as Nathan seemed intreagued with what she said as he backstroked towards the waterfall. All marie had to do was follow but she wasn't even sure if she wanted to do anything that would harm her. She hated thinking like that. Not once did she think of what Aizora and Drew were doing or if they were still alive if anything she swam towards the waterfall basking in its beauty as the water fell upon her face before she felt arms around her hips.  She didn't feel his arms till she looked down as she was merly lifted into his arms and towards the edge where she could see a cave entrance. " Nathan."  He must've known as she was pulled with him thankfully he had let her go. her mind was in another certain place as she looked at him and then back at the entrance that didn't seem so haunting.

" i didn't see that when i was over here. " She could see the confusion as well as the part where he regretted keeping his gun over on the other side where their things were.  " Maybe we don't have to go in there. " She honestl didn't want to not with the way her body was relaxed and how she felt and she knew even with the way Nathan acted she was better than okay. " There could be a clue or on top of that a way we could go that could possibly be faster. "

" Or death could await us." She hated how she heard the voice in her head as she even said it out loud.  She felt her face change in astonishment as Nathan didn't seem to like the comment as he looked at her. " I honestly didn't mean to say that. You know what you go and I stay here where I can not be of burden." It wasn't more of a commentment but when Nathan heard that he didn't know what to do other than grab her before she tried to free herself. " Not only can I walk but I can hurt you and Nathan so help me I will gladly punch you. "

" Marie you're annoying when you say things like that."  He was dangeriously close after getting in her space but with how he handled her and how close he was she wasn't sure of what to do other than let him do whatever he wanted. She felt like she could see just how much in pain he was with him so close but before she could even open her mouth to speak he looked down at her lips as he quckly moved towards the cave that didn't seem so frightening. She couldn't fathom following him into the cave as the noise from the waterfall echoed throughout it. " It's a tight fit, but there's something else back there." He couldn't see what but it bothered him how tight of a fit it was as he squeezed himself in between the rocks as she did the same. " Nathan What the mess."

Swords littered the ground even at their feet as before them scattered around laid the skeletons. " Woah." Marie stepped over more than half the bodies before something caught her eye from the rubble from across her. " Nathan I think I found something."  She didn't just have to move several bodies just to grab the ancient looking sword but the dagger she loved even more. She pulled the heavy sword past her as she grabbed the small daggar that seemed perfect for her as if it were meant to be.  Past that sat something even older and not that it didn't catch her eye she just didn't like the map that had the skull of satan on it.  " Ay, Dios Mio. " She said it as she knew if anything happened that she didn't like she was going to hate it. She already regretted grabbing it as she didn't even want to hand it to Nathan but what was she going to do with it other than lead them both on accident in a death trap.  " Esto De Nuevo."  Nathan understood her and only understood but they both knew if they were going to take anything they were going to have to take the map as well. " What is that?"  He stared past her at the sand the cover whatever it was that jutted out of it like a stake.

" I swear that wasn't there before." If anything a sudder went down her spine as she felt the feeling of regret as the cold feeling grasped at her neck and not the way was pleasent.  Everything in her mind and her body screamed as she tried to control herself as she suddenly felt like she should run as if she were guilty.  If only her friends knew who she was and not that she was never really a friend but they never saw the real picture when it was right in front of them. How could she prove that she was good and be bad at the same time? could she help and cause destrustion? If she wanted to change and people told her she was something else then why couldn't she prove that they were the ones to make her who she was. Maybe she already did considering she felt like they were of no use, she felt like the little town she grew up in was just nothing to her however she knew her parents loved her even though they never showed it.

She felt weak as she tried to hold her ground as she stared at all the bodies around her and at the few jewels around a few wrists. She saw the armor on one and knew she wanted it as she had also grabbed it from the dead bones that just crumbled in a heap as Nathan spoke to himself before looking in the direction of where they had grabbed it before staring back at the map in confusion. " You don't seem to know where to go? " If anything he looked stressed already and they just found the map.  " Some of it I understand perfectly but this is talking about a soul being trapped and then over here it's saying you've been reset but the salvation isn't here. " He stared at the map as he looked back at open door as if it were going to speak to him. Marie could only stare back at the bodies as if they had fought so many years ago just trying to protect the innocent that wasn't pure at all.  Nathan pointed at the map and drew with his fingers where they were and then where they needed to go. " What is it with the trickory. Ha it just needs to say you're doomed for all humanity. "

Marie only laughed with him just to ease into the conversation she didn't even know she was in as it seemed like he had said that more for himself.  After pulling herself from the rocks she knew she wanted to dive into the blue water but before she did she put herself in between the water and where it feel into the water. " This feels amazing." Nathan only stared back at her thinking it wasn't just amazing but he envied her spunk and personality as he felt lost and the only way to fill free was to find Sam. The last known location he had of him was when he found the hidden treasure only to him it was. He missed his brother and only hoped he was still alive so they could at least have another adventure together.  He was glad to find another weapon but he didn't understand how a sword and a dagger where just laying there unless it was supposed to be part of the puzzle along with what the map said and although it didn't say anything about a sword or dagger he still looked over it as Marie redressed into her other clothes.

He couldn't see anything but he could hear the rustling as he only felt intregued but he kept his focus on what the main attraction was supposed to be. 2 miles east should lead them towards the serpents heart but then they would need to find the heart to give back to the king. What? He only read what was on the map as he seemed more confused. " I need more sleep because this isn't making any sense."  Marie looked over at him as her attire screamed she knew what she was doing. Her hair laid out on the top of her head as he could tell she was more energized and relaxed. " Serpents heart. We would need to give it back to the king. " He pointed before thinking he was going in circles in his mind and while he thought that they only thing she saw the was weird creepy ancient warriors that seemed to haunt her very being. They didn't seem like they were full of life but dead; like zombies almost.  Coming back from whatever that was that strayed in the atmosphere she looked at it vaguely before not understanding a word of it. She didn't like the nagging feeling like they should of left it alone.
