Chapter 1

Marie woke up in cold sweat breathing heavily and looking towards the front of the tent as her focus went towards Aizora who was sleeping soundly. It was a nightmare all over again as she still heard the strange noise from the distance. She only didn't know how to describe the sound of the noise. She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep after that. Grabbing at her head at the sudden pain she only saw a glimpse of the little house with green shutters as a creek ran right above from the hill and down beside the house. What did it mean? It confused her greatly as the pain in her head only continued before she remembered the strange feeling from a month or so before. This was far from an adventure to her, was this her life now? Marie was still very worried about Aizora as Drew was in another tent but with Nathan Drake. A few hours later Aizora awoke with Marie gone as she wasn't worried just curious as to where she had gone. Getting dressed in another shirt that didn't hug her too much she touched up her hair before walking out of the tent and pulling her hair in a high ponytail. Aizora had only agreed for a few reasons and it wasn't just because of the thrill of an adventure to where she wasn't trapped inside someone but she wanted to enjoy a trip with her friends and Drew. Not only didn't she want to work when her friend was gone but she didn't want to ever be alone, She wanted something else to think about. How could she when it was severed in her mind? The words, every detail still haunted her as so did the way she tried her hardest to overcome it and get over it. Aizora could still hear the words from Achylis, the sarcasm behind the way she'd say anything, the hatred behind her voice. What was so much worse than death that made her want to know what it was? She felt like she was hearing every detail as she only tried to think of her father. How would he handle it?

It felt like it was just yesterday Nathan Drake asked for help as both Marie and Aziora wanted to help. Aizora wasn't surprised by Marie at all as she had already made breakfast. " How long have you been up? " Aizora wasn't worried about her best friend it was just the part where she looked kinda scared as she quickly masked the look on her face before handing AIzora a plate. " Not long. I hunted and found eggs and I used one of our cans as you can see. " Aizora had barely taken a bite from her food before Nathan Drake stepped out of his and Drew's tent that they shared. " Breakfast is hot and ready," Marie said she didn't really look as she still had a plate in her hands. " Be right back." He stalked towards the trees as Aizora only stared out at him as Drew walked out of their tent. Drew sat beside AIzora as she only sat across from Marie. Nathan Drake came back prepared for what was to come he wasn't sure if the two girls were going to be okay with it. It said a lot considering Marie and how she even did everything she did from the first adventure, it terrified him and it wasn't intentional.

Marie, however, had surprised herself by what had happened even though she still had the voice in her mind as her mind wasn't just blank but she knew something was wrong as she only act casually about everything. Drew ate his food as Nathan finally sat down next to Aizora but on the other side before grabbing his plate from Marie. " Are you going to eat?" Nathan asked afraid he had taken her plate. " No, I already ate before ya'll get up." It was a lie and she hoped they couldn't tell. She looked towards the left looking at the trail and where the noise she heard had come from but the only thing she heard now was the singing birds with a melody that echoed. " I grabbed water from the creek and filled our bottles. Everything sounded suspicious Drew didn't say anything as he looked over at the 4 water bottles before looking back at her and then at Aizora.

Nathan Drake had been on the adventure with Sully and had contacted him before he had come back to the group and he still hadn't said anything to them about Sully. They still didn't know him as he only hoped for the good in this as he felt like he needed help but not this much help. In a way when he thought of even asking for Drew's help it was only because he felt like he could trust him and his instincts but when Marie had heard she wanted in too and so did AIzora. How could he say no when he loved the way Marie acted before asking questions? He knew she knew what she was doing before so why not. Aizora on the other hand he was still getting used to as he still got a strange vibe from her and he wasn't exactly over the whole thing as he could still see her in the air trying to do the impossible as it was clearly possible but only to something that had power. He gulped down the rest of his food as he was starved holding out the fork that he put onto the plate and handing it to Marie who reached out her hand. Nathan had his ups and downs but he could tell something was bothering her and not the type that would just simply go away. " Let's pack up and get going before we lose time. "

Hiking North Drew walked alongside Marie wondering if they could ever be as close as they were only he didn't really see Aizora the same as it still haunted him. Nathan on the other hand walked ahead of them as if he wasn't part of the group only Marie felt the ringing in her ears as they all looked over the hill towards the roads that lead to some destination that only seemed to entertain that atmosphere. He wasn't expecting any company any time soon and it wasn't even something he joked about. " Okay if we follow this road it should lead straight into town. " He looked behind them at the faces as it seemed to be their answers before stalking onto the road that wasn't too far from where they were. " So we could've already had this part done and had stayed in like an inn instead. " Marie only rolled her eyes as Aizora only knocked him in his head from behind as he turned towards her with a look. " You know we need to save what little money we have. We got tents for a reason. You'll get over it." Nathan only could imagine the look on Drew's face as he never turned around to look at the way they were, he had friends but not like them. They weren't afraid to speak their minds except when they became serious about anything else.

Drew looked across from where he was and back toward Aizora, after moving away from her he could see the pain behind her eyes. He didn't mean to hurt her feelings he just still saw everything every time he even saw her, not once did he say sorry but he thought of it. The road was more of a dirt path that turned into more roads that lead elsewhere and not only did he feel lost but he also felt confused as to what they were supposed to do. " Hey, Nathan so what exactly are we doing first? " He ran and caught up with Nathan as Marie and Aizora were again alone together. Marie didn't question it Aizora was always going to be her best friend if only she knew if she wasn't really possessed she might feel better. She only thought like that because of the nagging feeling as she felt like something was wrong with her and not in a good way. What was wrong? She still felt like she could hear the screams that woke her up and not only that but seeing from a different point of view of a boy but instead of a large black mass. She swore she heard the whistling just seeing it but she felt like she was just going insane with worry and stress from before. She heard something else faintly as She had heard the conversation between Nathan and Drew. They acted like they had been buddies since they had grown up and not only that when Drew joked Nathan only laughed.

The night after Marie had thrown the coin and the book away into the fire she thought she had seen something in the fire. A woman's face was only a glimpse but she could've sworn it was there. Marie felt wrong for doing what she had done only she didn't have the heart to tell Aizora she was sorry even though she could clearly see the pain behind her eyes. Marie could tell Aizora was trying to hide behind the pain but Marie wasn't stupid she knew her best friend. Walking behind Drew and Nathan she could see the jawline of Nathan as he was looking more handsome than the last time. His eyes alone you could get lost in but he always held firm. He acted way too mature but sometimes he was funny. Nathan, on the other hand, wasn't too thrilled with how far they had come. He had tried to find Lara instead but it was as if she was nowhere to be found.

Nathan found it hard to believe that Sully might have found Sam the only problem was they had to do some things he didn't want to before they could meet up with him. Would they care for it if they had to split up? Surely not. There were four of them and not a single one really knew anything and it said a lot it wasn't like he hadn't said anything to them. He told them of the journey and where they would have to go. Through Berlin Which wouldn't take long as he only had to do an errand and then hopefully find the source and bring justice. Drew knew something else was bothering Nathan but he wasn't about to pressure him into telling him as it would probably turn chaotic. He remembered the last time he had something to him but he hadn't met it the way he had or the way he had said it.

Marie still felt the overwhelming fear; not just of herself but of what was really going on with herself. She knew what she was capable of and she almost found herself her sleeping friend the night before with the dagger that she had. What was inside of Marie wanted it to look like an accident. She hated running from the fear even from the past that seemed to haunt her every day. Marie felt like she wasn't good enough as it was and hearing the voices inside of her made it worse. Aizora finally got good sleep as Marie could tell she wasn't having nightmares. The thoughts she had alone creeped her out and she hated even thinking like that. Marie had left the tent that night feeling lost and stranded feeling dazed almost falling over herself. Marie thought she was just missed understood and half the time it wasn't a funny thing but serious. She hated her life and for what, now an adventure that could get her killed.

" Marie. You look distracted. " Marie only smiled as Drew turned his head more looking at her before going back to Nathan's story of a treasure that was just out of reach. " My brother always told me growing up that it's never lost just forgotten. I miss him greatly." Marie heard the sadness behind his voice and the atmosphere around him as she knew that he was remembering the past. It was all anyone could do just to keep themselves going. It sometimes helped but other times it was the one thing that got in the way of the healing process. Not only were they headed towards a small town but Drew had a friend that he didn't want to meet with as he was regretting the possibility of asking for help. By the time they had gotten to the town they were all tired but it didn't stop them at all.

Walking with Drew Marie laughed at herself and wondered why she had walked with him to meet his friend. Marie looking back noticed the way Aizora looked at Nathan and in disgust she questioned herself. Marie didn't have feelings if anything she just noticed his smile and the way he held himself. It wasn't hard to see him without being ambushed or worse. Marie noticed the small things about him as well like the way he smiled at anyone trying to help in every way he could. Marie did feel jealous but she wasn't sure why it wasn't like she owned him. She felt like something was stabbing at her chest and the pain only worsened. " Do it. They wouldn't think to blame you!" The voice didn't sound like her which freaked her out but she honestly wasn't sure as she remembered the way she was just 24 hours before. The voice didn't just scare her but it was as if she felt that it was wrong to say it wasn't her, to begin with. At least that's what she kept telling herself." Hey Mate, almost didn't recognize you."

They fisted-bumped and did their meet and greet as his friend whom she didn't know looked at her. " Yo. pretty, your Girlfriend?" Looking back at Drew he seemed surprised as Marie didn't understand why she walked with him, to begin with. " No, she's only a friend. My friends and I are trying to find something but I wanted to ask since we were passing by." Marie didn't like the way he had said it when she felt like they should be in a hurry instead of just making chit-chat. She looked back as Aizora and Nathan talked to each other. If only she understood how to read lips. " It's frustrating but I think I could help." Marie looked at him in confusion as Drew just didn't understand the first part. " Sorry Mate. I can't right now; Maybe we could meet in a moment I've got to go do something and get to this board of something." Marie huffed out after his friend stalked off wondering what just happened in the first place. Marie looked at Drew as he only stared at the doors he had pretty much run into. " Well, I guess we're going to have to wait."

Drew still felt the weird vibe that happened out of nowhere. Thinking back to Aizora and what she could possibly do he tried to keep his cool. " Didn't seem right. You felt that; the uh atmosphere it was like it just suddenly changed or something." The fear he tried to hide Marie only got a glimpse of it as she felt the weird feeling resurface. She wasn't sure if she hated it just yet as the feeling felt good. She felt powerful and more than that she felt like if she wanted to she could do anything, turning along with Drew, Aizora had her arm on Nathan like she was a happy girlfriend. Marie didn't understand as she felt bad as she had pain in her heart before the sky got dark fast and not only that it scared everyone around them including Nathan as he jumped.

" Just rain." Bolts of lightning rang out stopping mer inches from Nathan and Aizora. Bolts of lightning continued as they spread throughout Marie suddenly could hear everything as she felt numb and weak. Maie still held her ground as she felt like she was going to black out before the weather suddenly subsided and back to normal." You look pale. Hey, don't pass out. " They all looked around them as the voice only rang out as if everyone could hear when she knew they couldn't. " Do it, they wouldn't even know to blame you." Marie stared hard at the sky as she couldn't believe that was her that had done that in the first place.

Aizora felt a part of herself was going to be used again but that was only because she still felt so hollow and numb, not once thinking of her friend that wasn't just possessed.

Marie followed after Nathan as he seemed worried for a bunch of different reasons. Marie on the other hand saw something different but only in her mind as she fought with what it could be.

She ran back to where she thought her friends were only if anything she wasn't in the park anymore. She wasn't just confused as she heard the yelling from the bad guys before she ran in fear. " what, how? I can't breathe." She saw the warehouse and ran into it. she didn't like the spider webs but she forced herself to get over it before anything else happened. she hide behind the bookcase only they found her too easily as she faked she was already dead. She relaxed her body to a point where she was limp her breathing wasn't even at a minimum and for once she didn't choke out as she knew this was her life that was on the line. " Confused boss, what do we do?" She forced herself to not move even though she wanted to so badly as they pulled her with them as she only slumped to the ground. She wasn't aware of why or what they wanted with her. What she would give if everything would go back to normal. That's when she only thought back to how she got into her position. While she defended her life Mikai ended up disappearing. He wasn't just confused as jars of candy on top of the rock walls. It wasn't the weird part. Charlet ran after jumping through the window and landing on one knee after rolling in a front flip landing on her feet. they screamed running after her as she ran into her other friend, before running in the other direction as the rocks that they ran through closed behind them. She called Mikai thinking this was just a trap as she only heard that they left. " Wait why? " She wasn't exactly sure on why she asked as she could clearly see that there was no way out. " We couldn't figure out what the trick was. " She looked at her phone as she thought he was smarter. " Okay um, I guess I figured it out but you could come back if you'd like?" He seemed excited about it as she only climbed up the rock and then fiddled with the jars that had some weird candy or some sort of rock. her anxiety didn't exactly do her justice and she didn't like anything happening before pulling them all out of the jars, as something opened from the other side. Once on the other side, she grabbed the things from out of the window that seemed to become undone. She was in the middle of tying it when she noticed something looking at her as more bad guys. the only thing that didn't make sense was the part where when she ran into another stranger. " Hi. vert. you are? " He seemed to be lost as she grabbed the obvious key and put it in the keyhole before the floor itself opened up they all fell through. Everything happened way too fast for her liking before the plant-eating suckling roared and the roots came at her like she was food. " Ahh." Freaking Fridge! Get away from me!" Vert didn't say much as she didn't have time to really do anything as bombs came from over the rocks and at the plant. It didn't like that and it cowered away from them as the bad guys only came over the wall dressed like villains and shot out at them. What made the situation worse was when the plant went absolutely crazy as it tore them down they only ended up firing at the plant killer Mikai showed up just in time, but only to see the plant grab her by her torso and flung her againsnt the wall. Charlet slumped against the wall as her head hit the ground harder than anyone thought. everything became more clear as the only reason the bad guys had followed them was that she was their prophecy. They were trying to rewrite it, only it didn't obviously go well. " What do I do? What's happening? " Mikai wasn't just worried as he did exactly what the leader told him to do with CPR.

Marie wasn't sure what she was supposed to get from that and if anything she only shook it off as she didn't notice another thing that seemed to happen.

It wasn't weird it was just hateful. The day started out bad and then get worse. Marie and Nathan were the first across the huge vast drop the only thing they could use to get across without dying was the huge crane that seemed to be there since the first time the other people tried to make the roads, only they failed miserably. The one thing Marie didn't get was when did they get this far? She felt as if they weren't in Berlin as the weird vision only seemed to replay some parts as she looked at the view of the valley and the plain ahead of her. " You're too uptight," Drew stated walking up the crane as it only seemed to move the entire thing. " Drew! Drew, jump off it's going t-" Nathan didn't have to say anything else before the entire Crane moved sideways jerking Marie as she hung from the crane not even a scream came from her. Nathan wasn't as fast as he thought he was as Drew was only knocked off and still over on the side with Aizora who only screamed for Marie as they both watched.

Nathan wasn't as scared but his adrenaline was definitely through the roof as he stretched his arm out towards her face only screaming with horror before she latched onto the clothed arm Nathan didn't think at all before jerking her harder than necessary. Marie lay half on him as her legs only felt the rushing wind. " Oh, God." Marie didn't say anything as she felt too close to death when she only lay against Nathan as her mind left her before she could blink again. " Marie says something so I know you are okay." He didn't know what to do any type of movement could have them both falling to their death; that's only what Nathan thought. " I don't want to move." Marie still shook but she barely moved as Nathan had to crawl first. The only that seemed to stop him was the look on Marie's face as he looked at her as she only flinched hard as his hand wasn't even touching her. " Sorry."

Marie crawled over the one post that had broken from part of the crane as Nathan was already on the other side standing up from jumping and doing the parkour he was used to doing. The only thing she knew she couldn't do was as the crane seemed to groan again from the sudden movement. She felt as if her soul fell from where she was before and dropped down, far down into the black mass that lay out far, far below her. She still felt the scream in the back of her throat and she felt as if she were going to pass out only Nathan still had ahold of her as she only tried to act as if she were alright when she clearly wasn't. She wanted to scream maybe she'd feel better or worse she was very unsure of herself.
