Abyssal Witch

"Do you mind if I interrupt your rest?" Granger spoke as he approach Selena.

The butterfly flew away from Selena's finger. Selena giggled. "Well, well, ain't this a surprise mister Granger? Aren't you supposed to be doing some training on the shooting grounds?" She tapped the space beside her to invite Granger to sit.

Granger motioned himself on the open space beside Selena. He put down his guitar case and gun beside him. "Please don't tease me miss Selena. I merely wanted to keep you company since you seem to be lonely." Granger answered teasingly with a smirk on his face.

"Oh. Then I guess I must thank your highness for taking his time to keep me company." Selena replied teasingly as she hugged her legs and rest her cheek on her knees looking at Granger. They both laughed from teasing each other.

"Kidding aside, is it alright for you to leisurely sit down here with me? Didn't you say that you are preparing for a very powerful foe?" Selena asked.

Granger had a serious expression and sighed. "Hey, Selena, have you heard of the Abyssal Witch?" He asked looking straight ahead so Selena is not in his line of sight.

Selena silently gasped and her eyes widen at the sudden question of her beloved. Her chest started throbbing faster. "E-eh?! Isn't the witch just a myth told to scare children?" She answered looking away.

Granger clenched his fist. "The thing is she's real. I saw her. I fought with her." His body started trembling from remembering the terrifying memory. "Her power is beyond what I- what everyone here can imagine."

Selena looked at the trembling Granger who's now looking down with a blank expression. "Ah! Yes. This expression. He has the same expression as those humans who've seen me before. You won't be able to accept me as well. Then, I just have to kill you." Selena's at the back of her mind thought as she is oozing with a murderous aura.

Granger felt chills on his spine. He frantically looked at Selena's side to see her wearing a comforting smile at him.

Selena noticed his uneasiness. "Is something the matter, Granger?" She called out at the man in front of her who's looking back and forth as if he's looking for something.

Granger stared directly into Selena's eyes. "You're eyes are very kind Selena." Looking at her eyes helped him calm down. He lay his forehead down onto Selena's shoulder.

"Why would you say that?" Selena asked him with no expression at all. Granger raised his head and looked face to face with Selena. He was confused why would Selena ask something like that. "You barely know me. How can you be so sure that I am kind like you said?" Selena followed up.

"W-why are you talking like that Selena? Everyday, you help us out here in the temple. I see your kindness everyday and right now, I can see it in you." He stared directly onto her eyes.

Selena giggled. "You are so serious Granger. I was just checking how you see me as. You seem tensed earlier that's why I want to divert your attention."

Granger laughed. "Really. You're such a tease." He patted her head.

Selena chest tightened at the sight of Granger happily smiling and laughing with her.

"Hey Selena, have you felt something moments ago? Granger asked seriously.

"Something?" Selena asked.

"Something like a murderous intent or something?" Granger asked back.

Selena's smile vanished. "No. I don't think so. Don't you think it's just your imagination?"

Granger caught her sudden change of expression. "I guess. Ha-ha." He then smiled at the lady. At the back of his mind he has questions if the murderous intent he felt came from her. He was sure that what he felt was real but he just shrugged the idea off. He wants to believe that the lady in front of him is a young innocent girl.

There are things about Selena that keeps showing up that makes Granger's doubt about her stronger. Will Selena be able to keep Granger from finding out her true identity?
