Chapter XVII - A Big Crush

Mirah's POV

Exactly three weeks after Pey got hospitalized, I took a special leave of absence from work. The doctor told me that the kidney leakage recovery may take up to 6 weeks, maybe even more.

Today is Pey's homecoming. Mr. Iman took Pey's wheelchair from the back of the car trunk and helped him sit on the wheelchair. After Pey fixed his position, I pushed him slowly past the small stones in the front yard of the house.

Bi Asih welcomed us while carrying Oliver who was sleeping and leaning his round cheek on her shoulder. I took Oliver from Bi Asih's hands, woke him up by kissing his cheeks and nose, for a moment Oli woke up and I put him on Pey's lap, only then I finally saw Pey's smile again, expanding warmly. Somehow, his smile also warmed my heart.

"Will I take you to the room?" I asked while holding my face close to Pey's ear.
