The Weightless Punch

### Chapter 4: The Weightless Punch

Three students stood in front of Yahari Kyoujiro, with the one in the middle exuding an air of strength and confidence. His spiky yellow hair and green eyes marked him as Raizo, the most formidable of the trio. Raizo's voice was sharp as he spoke, "How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from Hina?"

Under the scrutiny of these three and the rest of the students, Yahari responded calmly, "Is she your fiancée or something, Raizo?"

Raizo slammed his hand on the desk with a loud bang, trying to assert his dominance. Green sparks flickered around his face, especially his eyes, as he retorted, "She would have been if you weren't in the way!"

Yahari sighed, his voice steady, "I'll say it again, I have nothing to do with Hina's personal life. She knows how we both feel. The only difference is you got rejected, and I haven't been accepted or rejected."

Raizo clenched his fist, his face contorted with rage as he swung at Yahari. "That's right, I wouldn't have been rejected if you didn't exist!"

SMACK!

Raizo's punch landed on Yahari's face, but instead of feeling the satisfying impact of a solid hit, his fist seemed to sink into Yahari's cheek as if it were made of sponge or rubber. Raizo and his friends stared in disbelief as his hand rebounded back, feeling like he had struck a bouncy ball.

Yahari touched his cheeks, feeling the odd texture of his face. "Since when does a punch from Raizo feel weightless?" he mused aloud.

Raizo's eyes widened, his confidence shaken. He had fought Yahari many times, and while Yahari was strong in hand-to-hand combat despite lacking a quirk, he always emerged with cuts and bruises. This time was different. Yahari's nose should have been bleeding, yet there was no sign of injury.

"What the hell, Yahari? Is this some kind of trick?" Raizo demanded, his voice trembling with frustration.

Yahari pressed his right hand against his left wrist, his expression thoughtful as he muttered to himself, "So it wasn't just a silly theory after all. My body... is like rubber."

Raizo's fury grew, the green electrical sparks intensifying around his body. "Rubber body? That means you've been mocking me this whole time! First, you take Hina, and now you've been fighting me without using your quirk? What kind of bastard are you?"

Raizo's body crackled with green electricity as his rage peaked. He lunged forward and struck Yahari in the chest. Yahari was propelled backward, flying across the room. Everyone expected him to crash into the wall, but instead, Yahari's feet compressed like springs as he reached the wall. He said just before launching back, "If my guess is right, my body should bounce back and counter any hit."

WHOOSH!

The force of Raizo's punch rebounded, much like a ball hitting a wall and bouncing back with equal strength. Yahari flew back across the room, colliding with Raizo and sending them both sprawling to the ground. But it was Raizo who took the brunt of the impact. The green sparks around him vanished as he lay on the floor, writhing in pain, unable to stand.

Meanwhile, Yahari stood up, murmuring to himself, "So my body absorbs the hits like rubber but can still hit effectively. I thought my punches would be weightless too."

Raizo, still on the ground, couldn't comprehend what had just happened. His two friends helped him up and decided to retreat, unable to understand Yahari's newfound ability.

The entire classroom was in shock, the students whispering amongst themselves, the disbelief clear in their eyes. Rumors quickly spread about the boy who had awakened his quirk at the age of fourteen.

---

Yahari felt the weight of every eye in the room on him, yet his mind was elsewhere, processing the bizarre events that had just transpired. He walked back to his desk, the whispers of his classmates forming an almost tangible cloud of speculation and awe.

"So, Yahari has a quirk after all?"

"Did you see that? He just bounced back like a rubber ball!"

"I thought he was quirkless all this time."

The whispers buzzed in his ears, but Yahari focused on his thoughts. He had never imagined himself with a quirk. Growing up quirkless in a world where almost everyone had some special ability had shaped his self-image and his reality. Now, everything was changing.

The rest of the school day passed in a blur. Yahari's mind was racing, replaying the morning's events, trying to make sense of his new reality. He barely registered the lessons or the usual school activities. His thoughts kept returning to the sensation of Raizo's punch, the feeling of his body absorbing and rebounding the impact like rubber.
