04. Are You Sick, Lui Rong?

Tang Xinyi walked into the dining room. Lui Rong and Pang Lan were already seated. Lui Huang was not at the table. She squinted her eyes. It seemed that Lui Huang was late again. 

According to the original Tang Xinyi memories, Lui Huang was always late. Sometimes, he didn't even come back at night. 

Pang Lan suspected that her husband was seeing someone behind her back, but she could not prove it. 

Tang Xinyi felt like she was too scared to prove that her husband was cheating on her. She could not get a divorce if he were cheating on her anyway. 

Pang Lan probably felt it was better for her to keep living in ignorance since she could not do anything about it. 

"What are you standing there for?! Come eat! Do you expect us to come give you a feast upstairs?!" Pang Lan yelled at Tang Xinyi. 

Tang Xinyi took her seat at the table. She wondered why they had asked her to eat at the table. From the memories of Tang Xinyi, she could remember that Pang Lan and Lui Rong had never let her eat at the table before. 

They wanted to remind her of her status in the Lui family, and so they always made her eat with the maids. 

She was just slightly better than a maid in the house.

She sat down, and a middle-aged man served the meal. 

Tang Xinyi immediately buried her head in her food and started to eat quickly. 

The body she was in was weak. She wanted to make herself as strong as possible. 

It was only when she was strong that she'd be able to find out what happened to her and get her revenge on Su Mei and Su Hang. 

The both of them were definitely going to pay for what they did to her! 

She felt that if she had not only focused on biochemicals and technology, she would have been able to save herself at least.

However, in her past body, she had neglected training or eating well, as she had always wanted to make progress in her research. 

This time… she wasn't going to make that mistake again. 

"Why are you rushing your food? Who doesn't know better would think that we don't feed you!" Pang Lan scolded angrily. 

She didn't want the wealthy family interested in Tang Xinyi to think that she was too uncouth for them. 

The Pei Family was at the top of the food chain. However, the engagement was to that waste. She didn't dare to give her daughter to that idiot.

However, she didn't want Tang Xinyi to appear too shabby there.

Otherwise, the Pei Family could take everything away from them with one word.

They were a wealthy and powerful family. She knew they would want their daughter-in-law to be presentable to the public. 

Tang Xinyi raised her head and looked at the mother and daughter pair. Lui Rong was picking her food while Pang Lan glared at her hatefully.

"Are you sick, Lui Rong?" Tang Xinyi asked innocently.

Lui Rong dropped her chopsticks and glared at Tang Xinyi. 

"You're the one who's sick!" She yelled back at Tang Xinyi. 

"Ah, I just thought you weren't feeling too well ...you were picking your food ... You'd never be full if you ate like that," Tang Xinyi added with a shrug.

Lui Rong held her chopsticks tightly in her hand. She felt like stabbing Tang Xinyi's eyes when she heard that. 

Of course, she was not sick. She was just watching her weight.

She wanted to be as slim as possible but was a chubby girl with thick thighs. So whenever she ate, she would try her best to eat as little as possible. 

She was envious of Tang Xinyi. No matter how much she ate, she'd never gain weight. She wanted to be like that, but she was not.

Just drinking some bubble tea was enough to make her gain weight. 

Pang Lan saw the look on her daughter's face, and she lost her temper at Tang Xinyi! 

"You think our Rong is a glutton like you who has never seen food?! Of course, she has etiquette and knows not to eat like a glutton!" Pang Lan said.

She knew how obsessed her daughter was with looking as thin as possible. She tried to talk her out of it when it started, but she refused to listen. 

She had to let her do whatever she wanted because she would never listen to her. Besides, if she wanted her to marry into a wealthy family in the future, she had to meet all of their standards, and being 'fat' was not going to help her at all. 

Tang Xinyi pretended as if she did not hear Pang Lan's words. She just continued eating her food. 

Pang Lan tried her best to hold back her anger. She wanted to throw Tang Xinyi out of her house, but she had some use for now. She couldn't kick her away. 

"Tang Xinyi, you should learn from Lui Rong how to be a proper lady from a rich family! And since you will attend First High School, you had better behave and not make a fool of yourself! Your adopted father spent a lot of money to get you into that school through the backdoor. Your results won't have been enough to get you in any way! So you had better not mess up! We did all this to fool the Pei family into thinking you're a high society member! You had better not throw away this opportunity," Pang Lan berated.

Tang Xinyi did not say anything. She just continued eating her food.

Lui Rong was suspicious when she saw Tang Xinyi acting like she didn't care about anything. Usually, Tang Xinyi would try her best to please her and her mother because she did not want to be taken back to the orphanage. 

But today, it was as if she did not care. She pretended as if she couldn't hear her mother talking. 

Did Tang Xinyi hit her head hard and become a different person? 

"Tang Xinyi! Can you hear what my mother said?" Lui Rong asked. 

Tang Xinyi raised her head to look at her. 

"Yes," she replied. 

Lui Rong was upset, but she found out there was no way she could vent her anger. 

Tang Xinyi did not say anything to her, so what could she say?
