Liu Feng was looking forward to returning to the city as he met with Zhang Yan.

As they started their journey back, Liu Feng asked Zhang Yan to take a quick detour and go back to the bandit's hideout to refill his wallet.

'Sigh~, I should have known….', reaching the cave all of his sense of accomplishment disappeared.

The cave had been thoroughly ransacked, and not a single valuable item remained.

Liu Feng let out a sigh of disappointment, looking at his fully loaded carriage, "Zhang Yan, let's go back to the city. We don't have any space left in the carriage anyways."

The duo made their way back to the city gate, his carriage now filled with the corpses of the demonic beasts they had hunted during the past week. As he approached the city, he noticed a bustling scene with many people eagerly queuing to enter the city.

From children to elderly couples, the diverse crowd stood in line while city guards meticulously inspected each person.

However, as Liu Feng's carriage came into view, it caused quite a commotion. The pungent odor of the demonic beasts' corpses filled the air, drawing everyone's attention.

One of them stepped forward and called out, "Hold on there! You look suspicious! What's in that carriage?"

The guard proceeded to inspect the carriage and was surprised to find it filled with the corpses of the demonic beasts.

"It's a pile of dead demonic beasts," he exclaimed in awe, easing the tension in his voice. He then seemed to recognize their arrival.

"Are you perhaps Senior Liu, the one our young lord spoke of?"

Liu Feng displayed his token, confirming the guard's suspicion. "Yeah, that's me."

"Welcome, Senior Liu! Welcome!" The guard's doubt transformed into respect and welcomed them with open arms.

"Let me handle this, Senior Liu", taking the handle of the carriage he continued, "Hey you…make way…make way…Senior Liu in entering the City", he called out.

"Hey, Xiaojun, quickly go and inform Young Lord Li that Senior Liu has returned!"

Finally, when he reached the City Lord's residence, Liu Feng was warmly greeted by Li He and Mei Lin. City Lord Li Tianming himself was present to welcome him too.

"Greetings, Senior Liu! It's great that you're back. I was starting to worry whether we needed to send reinforcements," Li He said with a big smile.

Li He introduced Liu Feng to his father, "Father, meet Senior Liu. He saved my life when I tried to fight that Cicada wave.", initially proud but he got embarrassed at the end of his sentence.

City Lord Li Tianming bowed respectfully to Liu Feng, expressing his gratitude, "Ah, Senior Liu, it's a great pleasure to finally meet you. I am deeply indebted to you for saving my son's life as well as taking care of the Cicida issue."

Liu Feng nodded humbly, "Greetings, City Lord Li. It's good to finally meet you too. I'm glad I could be of help."

"I heard you have some urgent matters to discuss with me, but first, please take some rest. We have prepared a bath for you. Please enjoy it," the city lord offered.

Liu Feng agreed to take up the offer. Meanwhile, he entrusted Li He with the task of handling the logistics for selling the demonic beast corpses they had brought with the carriage. Li He gladly accepted the responsibility and instructed a group of servants.

As the news of the carriage spread, everyone present became curious and soon noticed the pungent smell in the air. Their curiosity turned to awe and amazement when they saw the carriage filled with the pile of demonic beast corpses.

"On behalf of all the residents of the city, thank you!" the City Lord quickly changed his expression to a sincere one and bowed, surprising his subordinates and the people around.

A round of cheers and applause echoed throughout the area, honoring Liu Feng for his extraordinary feat. In the midst of the celebration, Liu Feng noticed three unfamiliar figures in the corner. An old man stood tall, dressed in flowing white robes, accompanied by a young man and a girl.

The city lord introduced them, "Ah, Senior Liu, meet Elder Shen, The Golden Alchemist from the Flaming Mountain Sect. His alchemy skill is unparalleled in the entire Great Qin. This is his disciple, young master Ye. And finally, my daughter, Li Mei."

"Mei'er, greet Senior Liu. He has contributed a lot to maintain the peace in our city."

The girl, Li Mei, offered Liu Feng a courteous greeting.

Apparently, after a couple of days when Liu Feng had left, they arrived here for a sect mission to clean up the demonic beasts. But Li He pursuing the city lord and in turn, he pursued them to trust Liu Feng and stopped them from going after him.

"Greetings, Elder Shen. It is an honor to meet you," Liu Feng nodded politely.

As the elder acknowledged him, his attention was drawn to a young man dressed in a flowing robe of fiery red with intricate orange and gold patterns. Li Mei, beside him, was also wearing an elegant robe with a similar design. While Liu Feng acknowledged them with a nod, he couldn't help but feel a slight unease.

'This kid's presence screams a young master. Hopefully, he does not create a scene here. Sigh~'

Unbeknownst to Liu Feng, the young disciple misinterpreted his lack of enthusiasm and took it as a sign of disrespect.

The young man, being the son of the city lord of Maple City, had been pampered since childhood. Later his rare cultivation talent led him to join the prestigious Flaming Mountain Sect, and his talent in alchemy caught the attention of Elder Shen, who took him as his personal disciple.

It was as if he possessed no cultivation aura whatsoever. To make matters worse, City Lord Li, Li Mei's father and the most important figure in his romantic aspirations, was praising this man.

He had decided to impress City Lord Li with this sect mission but now the young man couldn't help but feel crushed and defeated. He felt that all the limelight he deserved was stolen by this man.

He had put in so much effort and even wanted to risk his safety to win Li Mei's affection, only to be overshadowed by someone ordinary. The fact that this person ignored him completely was like the final blow to his heart.

'You dare to ignore me!' Ye Ming clenched his fists tightly, his heart seething with frustration. 'It was supposed to be me who defeats the demons and hailed as the hero and win over junior sister's heart.'

When Ye Ming learned about a senior cultivator taking care of the recent surge in demonic beasts, he was disappointed, however, upon discovering that someone of similar age, with no cultivation, was receiving all the praises and attention, it shattered his patience.

"You expect me to believe you alone did this? You would need a group of at least five middle-stage Qi Condensation cultivators to achieve such a feat."

"There's no way a mere body cultivator could have done this! Who do you think you're fooling here? Pretending to be a senior cultivator? Don't joke with me."

"I can't even sense a shred of cultivation from you. Let's see how long you can keep up this act!"

"I challenge you to a duel!!!" he declared, stepping forward with the intent to prove himself in front of the audience.
