Chapter 696: O.W.L. Results (Edited)

Harry was sent to the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix by Dumbledore, while Fish returned to their home in Hogsmeade.

Perhaps because Dumbledore thought that Voldemort wouldn't do anything until he obtained the Orb of Prophecy, or because he believed that Fish would be able to defend themselves, Dumbledore no longer demanded that Fish stay at the Order of the Phoenix, as he had done the previous summer.

Of course, Harry and Sirius were always welcome to visit.

"Minerva~ I'm back, nya~!"

?●ω●?

When Fish arrived home, Professor McGonagall, Hermione, and Comey were waiting for them in the living room instead of going to bed.

Fish approached them and gave them a hug, then took out all the snacks they "exchanged" with Dudley and handed them out to everyone.

"Come try them, they're from Harry's fat cousin!"

They were all Muggle snacks, but Hermione, being a dentist's daughter, had never seen or eaten most of them.

Of course, she wasn't too interested in snacks either...

Hermione silently tightened her waist; her weight was always in a precarious state after spending all that time playing with Fish, and it was a pity that... no wizard had developed a spell to keep her in shape!

So she simply grabbed a snack with her hand without even opening the package.

"What have you and Professor Dumbledore been up to?" Hermione asked Fish, taking her snack.

"First, we went to pick up Harry, then we went to see an old bald man named Horace Slughorn. Albus said he would be our Potions professor next school year, nya."

(Φ~Φ)

Fish replied with a mouthful of food.

"Potions class? Isn't it Defense Against the Dark Arts?" Hermione asked, surprised.

"Before Professor Slughorn retired, he used to teach Potions at Hogwarts," Professor McGonagall explained. "He was also the head of Slytherin House, and he used to give me lessons."

"So Minerva joined his club, nya?"

?ω?

Fish looked at her curiously.

However, Professor McGonagall shook her head and replied, "He invited me, but I declined."

Immediately, Fish sighed in relief and gratefully said, "Well, that's good, nya! Fish was trying to steal it! If Minerva had been there too, Fish wouldn't have been able to do anything about it, nya."

Professor McGonagall: "..."

"So, who is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher?" Hermione asked, puzzled.

Hermione wasn't sure what Fish and Professor McGonagall were talking about with the club, so she put it aside for now, more curious to know who would have bad luck next year.

"Severus, of course..." Fish sighed helplessly. "So Fish won't be able to argue with him..."

ε=(ο`*)

Professor McGonagall slapped him on the head and scolded, "Show some respect for the professors at the school!"

"Fish didn't disrespect Severus! Haven't I always argued with Minerva before? This isn't a conflict!" Fish said casually.

"Anyway, don't cause me any trouble!" Professor McGonagall slapped him again. "If I find out that you've been fighting with Professor Snape without reason, I'll have to deal with you!"

"Hmph! At the end of the day, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor will end up fighting with Fish for one reason or another, nya!"

(`н´)

Fish muttered quietly, holding their head in their hands.

Professor McGonagall, who overheard their whispering, gave a blank look to Fish, but she felt a little uneasy... After all, there were already five examples of this.

To be honest, she didn't understand why Snape agreed, even though Slughorn was the former Head of Slytherin and Potions professor, but as long as Snape didn't agree, Dumbledore couldn't force him to change the subject.

After that, Professor McGonagall gave Hermione a brief explanation of the general nature of Horace's club, and then the two were led to bed by Professor McGonagall.

...

"Ah~!"

The next morning, Fish was awakened by a scream coming from downstairs.

"Hermione?!"

∑(ΦДΦ)

Fish quickly identified the owner of the voice and rushed out of the room as fast as he could, jumping from the first floor.

"Is it Voldemort calling?!"

As soon as he touched the ground, Fish looked around attentively.

However, he soon found that there were no enemies in the family. Professor McGonagall, Hermione, and Comey were all unharmed in the living room. The only difference was that there were two owls he didn't recognize.

"Nya?"

(?ω?)

Fish was a little confused.

"Ahem..." Hermione lowered her head and awkwardly cleared her throat. "There are no enemies, Fish. Those are the O.W.L. exam results that arrived." She pointed to the two owls, explaining.

"Goo, goo." "Goo..."

The two owls flapped their wings and flew towards Fish, perching on each of his shoulders and affectionately pecking at his cat ears with their beaks.

"Hello, nya..." Fish greeted them and then looked at Hermione speechlessly. "Why are you still so unsure of yourself? Obviously, your usual grades are so good..."

(?ω?)

"But... what if I didn't do well?" Hermione still seemed anxious. She wanted to grab the letter from the owl's claws but hesitated to do so.

Fish rolled his eyes and took the two envelopes from her.

"Should Fish read them for you?" he asked, waving the envelope that belonged to Hermione.

"No! It's not necessary!" Hermione finally mustered up the courage to step forward and grab her report card. "I'll do it myself!"

She encouraged herself aloud, and then she opened the envelope with her eyes closed.

But after taking out the report card, she suddenly gave up and didn't dare to open her eyes to look at it.

"Eh? Did they send it to the wrong person? Why are there so many 'Ds'?"

A familiar and fluffy touch reached Hermione's face, and at the same time, Fish's voice sounded in her ears.

"What?!"

Hermione's eyes widened, and she looked at the parchment in her hands...

A row of "O"s.

"Nyajajajaja! So it's an 'O,' Fish just read it wrong, nya~."

(?ω?)

Fish changed his tone before Hermione could get angry. "Fish said you don't have to worry."

Hermione glared at Fish and then picked up her report card with a smile.

"Let's see what you have!" The recovered know-it-all urged Fish.

"Fish's grades can't be bad, I'm sure of it!"

(`´)

Unlike Hermione, Fish was so confident in his own abilities that he opened the envelope and unfolded the parchment randomly.

The same row of "O"s, only one less than Hermione's because Fish took one less class than her.

"Divination with an 'O'? I thought Fish could only get an 'E' at most in this class."

(ΦωΦ)

Fish rubbed his head and thought, "Did Umbridge and Professor Trelawney deceive me? Do I actually have talent for 'prophecy'?"

"I wonder how the others did." Hermione was curious about the results of the others after reading Fish's.

"Hermione..."

(?ω?)

Fish squinted his eyes and said, "I don't know why, but Fish doesn't like you the way you are."

Hermione, who was about to write a letter to ask the other members of the Order of the Cat about their grades, froze and explained, "I was just curious!"

Then she shrugged her shoulders and grumbled, "Fine, fine, I won't ask..."

After calming down, Hermione realized that her behavior was actually quite offensive, she just couldn't help herself sometimes.

"Well," Professor McGonagall, who had been observing, applauded, "Everyone has achieved good results, that's something to be happy about, so don't be so unhappy."

She turned to Comey and ordered, "Make the meal a little more abundant today, so they can celebrate."

"Yes!"
