Chapter 321: The teacher's assistant cat (Edited)

When Hagrid returned to the small meadow with a group of Hippogriffs, the students didn't seem as surprised or pleased as he thought they would be, but they were all very calm.

The group had already met all the flying creatures that could carry people in the Forbidden Forest, as Fish had been known to ride on some of the flying creatures from time to time.

Some of the better connected had even secretly followed Fish on some of the gentler magical creatures, such as Pegasus.

"Buckbeak! Hello".

(●ΦωΦ●)?

Fish waved from afar at a Hippogriff, and Buckbeak hissed in response, shaking the chains that held them with a loud clatter.

?ω?

Fish's gaze strayed to the chain in Hagrid's hand and his brow furrowed.

"Hagrid, why are you chaining Buckbeak and the others?"

Fish asked grimly.

"Well...," Hagrid scratched his head in distress, looked at the chain in his hands and then at Fish and said reluctantly, "They're still too dangerous for the other students and I'm worried that someone might get hurt."

If it were only Hagrid himself, he wouldn't need the chains to restrain the Hippogriffs, but he was now a teacher in the Care of Magical Creatures class and was responsible for the other students.

"Can't you unchain them nya? Fish can guarantee that Buckbeak and the others won't hurt anyone."

(??ˇ?ˇ??)

The kitten bargained with Hagrid with a serious look.

"Hagrid, listen to Fish, we'll be careful not to mess with them too."

As Hagrid hesitated, Harry suddenly intervened.

He had seen how well these magical creatures of the Forbidden Forest got along with Fish, even the fearsome three-headed dog, Fluffy, had taken him and Ron on their way in Fish's presence, and he didn't think these Hippogriffs would be any different.

Immediately after, Hermione and Ron, who also followed Fish into the Forbidden Forest, and Malfoy, who was guided by Fish to ride an Aethonan, all followed suit.

So Hagrid untied the collars from the necks of Buckbeak and the others, and the Hippogriffs, once untied, did not flee, but all gathered around Fish, touching him gently with their huge beaks as a gesture of thanks.

Again, Hagrid grimaced and scratched his hair, as his presence as a Care of Magical Creatures class teacher was irrelevant with Fish here.

But he quickly adjusted to the situation and now dismissed Fish as a distraction.

"Fish, you can go play with them, I'll let you skip my classes and play with the magical animals...just don't wander too far away, I need to introduce them during my classes."

Hagrid waved a large hand like the plague and told the kitten to go play without interrupting his lesson.

"Yes!"

?(●ΦωΦ●)?

Fish, who normally liked to sleep in class, didn't say no, so he ran off into the small meadow with a group of Hippogriffs.

After pushing Fish aside, Hagrid uttered the lines he had practiced so many times, just as he had rehearsed them in the hut alone.

"Remember, the first thing you should know about Hippogriffs is that they are very proud," he told the crowd, very serious: "And Hippogriffs lose control easily. Don't humiliate him, or you might die."

Then everyone turned to look at Fish, who at that moment was holding the mouth of a Hippogriff with both hands, making it look up and dangling below his head.

"Nyajajajaja..."

?(●≧?≦●)?

Fish staggered for a while, then spun backwards and grabbed him by the neck with his feet, and then, with a surprisingly deft movement, climbed under his neck and onto his back,

The speed was so fast that it dragged some feathers down with it.

Hagrid: "..."

"Uh... this one... you should meet him, Fish, he's different..." Hagrid explained, breathlessly, after a long pause.

After all, the black lake squid and the three-headed dog, who were even scarier than the hippogriffs, had to listen obediently to Fish, and as long as they weren't stupid, they would never think they could get along with the hippogriff like Fish did.

Hagrid was relieved to see the students accept his explanation, and his spirits were restored.

"Always wait for the hippogriff to make his move first," Hagrid continued with renewed vigor, "You have to be polite to the hippogriff first, understand? You walk up to him, you bow to him, and if he bows to you, you can touch him. If he doesn't bow, you have to walk away quickly, those claws will hurt him."

He explained to the crowd how to properly deal with a hippogriff.

Hagrid's ability to judge "danger" aside, his knowledge of magical animals was more than enough to be a teacher.

Although it was a bit out of the ordinary for students to ride hippogriffs in the first class, his teaching in other areas was beyond reproach.

"All right... Who wants to go first?"

Hagrid was going to find a student to set an example first...of course, Fish was the first to be excluded.

With Fish's safety, people weren't particularly afraid of hippogriffs, so there were quite a few who volunteered.

Hagrid looked around and chose Harry, who was closest to him.

"Fish, you mustn't interfere with Buckbeak."

He led Harry over to Buckbeak, then instructed the kitten.

"Fish wouldn't do that nya!"

?(●`ω′●)?

The kitten replied with a growl, knowing that hippogriffs didn't like to be ridden on their backs, so he couldn't force them to carry Harry and the others.

Then Fish grabbed the other hippogriffs and stepped aside to make room for Harry and Buckbeak.

"Easy, Harry," Hagrid whispered, "You've met his gaze, don't blink; if you blink too much, the hippogriff won't believe you..."

"Not really nya, just blink normally."

Seeing Harry's eyes glaze over, Fish couldn't help but speak up and correct him, "Buckbeak just doesn't like cowards, and if you blink, he'll think you're weak-minded or up to no good, so naturally he won't let you near nya."

There was nothing wrong with Hagrid's instructions, they were the result of the experience of countless wizards who had studied magical creatures, only slightly misinterpreted.

After all, unlike Fish, they couldn't communicate with hawk-headed winged beasts and horses without difficulty.

"Er... well," Hagrid corrected promptly, scratching his head, "Harry, you can come as normal, and, besides, five points for Gryffindor, thanks for your help, Fish."

Despite what Hagrid was saying, Harry didn't dare blink too often and only closed his eyes a little when they hurt too much.

"That's right," Hagrid continued to instruct, "That's right Harry.... now, bend over..."

Harry bent down as he was told.

Quickly, Buckbeak returned the bow, though Fish hadn't said much, he remembered Harry as the young wizard Fish had taken into the Forbidden Forest, and since he had some courage, Buckbeak didn't make it hard for him to recognize him.

"Well done, Harry!" Hagrid said ecstatically, "There you go..., you can pet him now! Give him a pat on the mouth, come on!"

Harry climbed up to get close to Buckbeak for a while, and then flew through the sky above him under Hagrid's guidance.

Although Buckbeak wasn't as comfortable to ride as a flying broom, Harry felt a sense of accomplishment when he landed . after all, he had done it without Fish's help.

With Harry's example of success, each of the other students found a hippogriff and began trying to make contact with them, and one by one they succeeded.

After a bit of bowing to each other, they all received the approval of the hippogriffs, including Neville, who was always a bit of a wimp, and even flew over one, grinning from ear to ear when it landed.

Afterwards, the group petted and fed the hippogriffs under Hagrid's direction, and by the end of the session, everyone seemed a little reluctant to leave.

Even Malfoy, who at first had a strong opinion of Hagrid, was no exception. When he returned, he kept muttering under his breath, asking his almighty father to buy him some hippogriffs to raise.

Everyone was very pleased with the Care of Magical Creatures lesson, after all, only a handful of people could be taken for a ride on a Hippogriff by Fish.

Fish was also pleased to have earned House points, which gave him a little more confidence to be able to get away with it in the future.

Harry and Ron were the happiest, because apart from a little trouble at the beginning, Hagrid's class was a great success and he no longer had to worry about not being able to teach the class.
