[A Sentinel Situation] - Trask's Downfall - The Switcheroo

Havok quickly caught up to Val and asked nervously, "W-What should we do now? That man almost caught us. He's definitely going to call the real police on us."

Val glanced at Havok with a slight smile on his face and said, "We don't have to worry about that annoying idiot."

"Why?", Havok asked, clearly confused.

"Because", Val said, "I took care of him."

Val stopped in front of a hallway and said, "Let's not waste any more time. We have to hurry!"

After a few twists and turns, they finally arrived in front of Mystique's room.

They quickly opened it and stepped inside.

Havok closed the door behind him while Val put the bag on the floor slowly.

Mystique and Charles glanced at the bag and asked, "You brought him in a duffle bag?!"

Val shrugged and replied, "He's a small man. He fit right into it. Also, there was this around us in which we could hide him."

Mystique opened the zipper and saw an unconscious Trask inside.

Charles rolled his wheelchair forward and glanced inside the bag.

Val took Trask out from it and placed him on the floor.

Mystique looked at him and asked, "What do we do now? We have kidnapped him but we can't kill him."

Val took Trask's suitcase and placed it on top of a table.

Then, he opened it and looked through the files.

While looking through them, he replied, "Charles, here, is going to do what he's best at. He's going to read through Trask's memories."

Before Charles could say anything, Val turned to him and ordered, "Shut up and listen to me!"

When he saw Charles stop himself from speaking, he continued, "Trask is a dangerous man. He can't be allowed to live but... he can't be killed right now either. So, we would go through a different route."

Seeing that everybody was listening to him, Val closed the suitcase and said, "What we are going to do is, first Charles is going to read through every single memory in Trask's mind. Then, he is going to implant those memories in your... ", he pointed at Mystique and continued, "mind."

"Then, you would change yourself into Trask and go do whatever he was supposed to do today but you wouldn't unveil Project Sentinel which he was supposed to do today but any other Project. Trask is an intelligent man. There must be tens of other projects he'd been working on, such as, genetic research, weapons research, etc.

While you would be over there, we three, would take the real Trask away with us. This way, nobody would suspect anything."

"What about the mutant detector that he has?", Havok asked.

Val dismissively waved his hand at Havok and said, "That device is one of a kind. He wouldn't give it to anybody. He has the only one in the whole world, probably."

Mystique sighed in relief and murmured, "If that's true, then I'm safe."

Everybody agreed with Val's plan, except... Charles.

He asked Val, "After we are done, what would we do with him?"

"Don't worry about that. It's none of your concern.", Val replied.

Everybody stared at Charles, causing him to sigh and he looked at Trask.

He closed his eyes and concentrated his telepathic power and entered Trask's mind.

He looked through his memories, beginning from his childhood, to his pre-teens, and so on.

However, as he continued to watch his memories, they became increasingly disturbing and unsettling.

He couldn't stop himself from crying as he watched the inhumane crimes Trask had committed later in his life.

When he finished, he was jolted awake.

He was trembling and there were tears in his eyes.

Mystique quickly held him close to her and asked worriedly, "What happened, Charles?"

But, he couldn't answer.

Mystique quickly pulled him close and tried to calm him down, "It's okay! It's okay! I am here. It's okay!"

Charles calmed down after a few seconds and the way he looked at Trask changed drastically.

He said to Mystique, "I am okay. We need to stop this monster at once!"

He asked her, "Are you ready?"

Mystique nodded and Charles touched her head with his palm and transferred all of Trask's memories in her mind.

After he finished doing so, it was his turn to comfort her.

After a few minutes of calming her down, she stood up and looked at Val and said, "I am ready!"

Val nodded and took out all of the files from Trask's suitcase and placed them in another one.

He gave the empty one to Mystique and said, "Change into Havok's disguise before getting out of the room. He was seen entering with it. It would seem suspicious if anybody else is seen walking around with it. Also, Trask was seen entering the male toilet. So, change into him before coming out of there, okay?"

Mystique nodded and changed her appearance into that of Havok's disguise.

Val gave her the suitcase and patted her hand as he said, "Good luck!"

"To you too!", She replied and walked toward the door.

She stopped before opening it and took a deep breath, thinking, 'You can do this, Raven! You got this! You're going to save a lot of lives! You're a hero! Yes! You're a hero!'

She opened the door and stepped outside.

As she closed the door, Val turned to Charles and said, "I need you to tell me everything about Project Sentinel."

. . .

Mystique maintained a stoic expression on her face as she walked toward the elevator.

She entered it and got off on the 3rd floor.

She walked toward the male toilet and entered it.

Luckily, nobody was in there and she quickly changed her appearance into that of Trask.

She closed her eyes and looked through Trask's memories.

She opened her eyes and changed her expression to a serious one.

She changed her body language and adjusted her tie and walked out.

She flawlessly walked in the same way as Trask and headed to the conference room.

When she reached there, a few C.I.A agents as well as a few French DGSE agents recognized her.

One of the C.I.A agents quickly came up to her and respectfully gestured her toward the door as he said, "This way, Mr. Trask."

He opened the door for her and she strode inside.

She placed the suitcase on the table and looked around it to see a bunch of military officials from different countries, looking at her intently.

She folded her arms behind her back and began, "Gentlemen... "

. . .

Val rubbed his chin after hearing everything Charles explained about Project Sentinel.

Charles and Havok were reading the files Trask had in his suitcase beside him.

Charles looked up from the file and asked, "What are we going to do now?"

Val stopped and grinned evilly and replied, "We will wipe out everybody associated with Project Sentinel."
