Chapter 019 | Funding the SSR

After apprehending the assassins that murder Abraham Erskine, Steve has told Lex information about the War, and it's going battle against the Axis.

After hearing about the information Steve has given him, Lex has a brilliant plan of funding both the Axis and Allies with his Money in exchange, Lex can get a hefty amount of resources.

"Hmm!"

"It seems the SSR has been low on Funding and Resources, that plan about killing Abraham Erskine before the Hydra Agent got there was brilliant, now Steve is more powerful."

"I have already made a device, that will torture him to the end of time if he has the thought of betraying me and my benefits."

"Him staying with Agent Carter will start to reflect based on his actions, if one of my subordinates have some conflicting thoughts, than he needs to be paid special attention to."

Thought Lex in his head, as countless schemes and plans were brewing inside his head.

12 Hours Later..

At the secret base of the SSR, countless Senators and Politicians are in a conference room going over what they should do, now that Dr. Abraham Erskine is dead.

"Senator Philips, if I may, I think we should cut our fundings for the SSR, now that Dr. Abraham Erskine is dead, it makes no sense to continue this field of work, I'm sure Colonel James understand."

Says one of the Politician with a heavy tone in his voice trying to sound "sad" because of Dr. Abraham Erskine's death, but obviously he has a mask on his face.

"I agree with what our fellow Senators had said, now that we have a single Super Soldier, that can barely turn the tide of the War, our opponents, the Axis has been trying to create some Super Soldiers of their own.

Right now, they are unsuccessful, but they are not that far behind, we are losing the battle but we will not lose the War, cutting the funds will be the best option going forward."

Colonel James was calm on the outside but furious on the inside, he really knows what's going on, those money-hungry Politicians doesn't want to take the blame or responsibility.

He has been around Politicians his whole life, he knows how they think and operate always thinking about their best interests and no one else.

"I'm sorry that you feel this way, I'm also sadden about Dr. Abraham Erskine's death, but we have ourselves a Super Soldier on our side, we now have a slight advantage in the War."

"That's true, Colonel James but without Mr. Erskine on your side we simply cannot keep funding you now, we all admit the Dr. was a smart guy, but that intelligence couldn't stop him from getting killed.

The Axis has infiltrated our organization, they are in deeper than I would liked to imagine, that is what we need to focus on, an assassin were under our noses this entire time."

"Beside, I have thought of a plan, we can use Steve as an image, not just an image for America, but an image of hope, prosperity, peace, integrity, he will inspire young man to come and join the War and help their Country fight the Axis."

On the top floor of his high-tech building, Lex was busy doing paperwork and going over the information Steve had sent to him.

Over the pay few days, the war efforts has been stagnant both sides have been fighting here and there, but their hasn't been nothing significant that has changed the war on either side.

*Knock!!*

"Come in!!"

A beautiful woman with blonde hair flowing down her back and beautiful blue eyes that screams intelligence enters the room with documents in her hands.

"Mr. Luthor, their has been some invitations to invite you to the next private event hosted by a Senator Craig, he wanted to meet you and thank you for your generous funding to the Allies."

Lex smiles and grabs the documents, he skims through with mild interest and begun reading through them, after reading it, he tosses the documents on his desk.

"Thank you, Susan for giving this to me, I really appreciate at it, by the way, how is your husband Richard doing?"

"Well sir, he is doing quite well, he has been sending me notes about the war and about his progress, I'm really scared for him, but I hope he comes home the same."

"Thank you!"

As Susan was about to walk out the door, Lex stops her and asked her a question that surprises her.

"Susan, would you like to be my date for the private that's coming?"

Susan turns around quickly trying to hide the shock, but Lex saw right through the act and awaits her answer patiently.

"Well, th-thank you sir for this opportunity and also, I humbly accept your offer to be your date to the event."

Lex smiles and proceeded…

"Then, I will pick you up at Nine O'Clock."
