Chapter 158. Missing People

"Recently, I've had several cases about disappearances in a row."

In Chinatown, within the martial arts school.

Jessica revealed her uneasiness, "I have a bad feeling about it."

"There's a lot fewer punks on the streets in Harlem these days. It's unusual." Luke Cage also spoke up.

"Things aren't as simple as you may think."

Frank spoke up and told them what he had found, "A few days ago, I received a letter from an old veteran who had lost his legs and an arm in the war. He told me that he had found a cure for his disability. I went to the address he had sent the letter from and found that it was long gone. But I still found some clues from his place ..."

As the Punisher spoke, his eyes swept over the Defenders while sneering, "The whole incident seems to have something to do with an old enemy, Kingpin."

"Kingpin? "

Matt subconsciously frowned at the information Frank had provided.

Recently, the Defenders had joined forces to destroy many Kingpin businesses, but they couldn't bring him down. On the contrary, with the shady forces in Hell's Kitchen completely under its control, Kingpin's forces became even more formidable.

"What's he planning to do?"

Hearing that the source of everything was Kingpin, Jessica subconsciously frowned and asked.

"It isn't clear yet." Frank shook his head. He didn't find too many clues, so he couldn't figure out what Kingpin's plan was, "But it definitely isn't good."

"Maybe, we should just go on the offensive on Kingpin. We can't let it stay like this." Danny opened his mouth and reminded them, "Don't forget, Jiu You's forces are also behind Kingpin. Perhaps there's some connection between this incident and Jiu You as well."

Danny's words caused the Defenders within the martial arts school to fall silent for a moment.

"Master Ip," Cage turned his head and looked at Ip Man. He couldn't help but ask, "Hasn't the immortal woken up yet?"

"No." Shaking his head with a wry smile. Ip Man made a helpless expression and replied, "Master Roshi may have to stay asleep for a while longer."

"Can't you just wake him up?"

Jessica asked with a frown and a puzzled look on her face.

"Once Master Roshi sleeps, he can't easily be woken up."

"Master Ip, how long does it take for an immortal to sleep?" Matt turned to Ip Man and asked.

Because of Jiu You, they desperately needed the strength of the immortal to fight.

"I don't know. Even in Peng Lai, Master Roshi's sleeping length was a big problem. At his longest, Master Roshi could sleep for over a year."

"A year?!"

When Jessica heard Ip Man's answer, she instantly raised her eyebrows. She was surprised at how long an immortal could sleep, and she was a bit speechless. If they really allowed him to sleep for a year, it would be too late.

This outcome also extinguished the Defenders' hopes of using the immortal's power to settle the battle.

"Looks like we have to fight on our own in the next battle."

Matt was silent for a moment, then addressed the Defenders.

"To be honest, I didn't place much hope in the so-called immortal you guys mentioned." In response, Frank didn't feel any regret or disappointment. Because of his past experiences, he didn't trust anyone but himself.

"I have no opinions." With a cigarette in his mouth, Luke shrugged his shoulders and leisurely added his 2 cents with a relaxed expression.

...

"How did it go?"

"Very well." Bowing his head and glancing at the special transformation blueprints in his hands, Ivan Vanko grinned, "Although a few failed at the last minute because their bodies rejected it, the vast majority have undergone the basic modifications and possess some combat power."

With that, Ivan clapped his hands. The next thing Kingpin saw was a whole row of cybernetically enhanced people appearing in front of him at a neat march, led by the equally transformed Bullseye. The vast majority of these cyborgs were from gang members, as well as a few who, for various reasons, had volunteered to undergo modifications.

"Good, very good."

Silently looking at the army of cyborgs, or rather robots, in front of him, Kingpin's eyes flashed for a moment. He then asked, "Compared to Lester, how effective are these cyborgs?"

"There's a large gap."

Ivan's answer made Kingpin frown.

"I adjusted Bullseye's body specifically, but these cyborgs in front of you are just prototypes that I modified from the blueprints, and there is a clear gap between the two."

"Couldn't we continue the modifications?"

In this regard, Kingpin expressed his dissatisfaction, "I didn't ask for a pile of trash, but an invincible army of robots that can sweep through New York."

"I can continue with the modifications, but it takes time as well as manpower." Ivan took this opportunity to present his own conditions.

"I can meet your requirements, whether it's time or manpower." Kingpin made a promise, "However, as a condition, you have to raise the combat power of these cyborgs to my satisfaction."

"No problem."

To that, Ivan nodded and agreed without hesitation.

With a silent nod, Kingpin redirected his gaze to the army of cyborgs in front of him. There was a moment of silence before he turned his head to look at Ivan again.

"I know you haven't been very obedient for some time now. You've been secretly doing some small things behind my back. As long as you can accomplish what I want, I'll ignore them." Kingpin said so as he stepped in front of Ivan. He looked down at Ivan, who was covered by his huge shadow, "Remember, that's as long as you can accomplish what I want."

"Of course."

Looking up at Kingpin, Ivan didn't look like he was afraid. On the contrary, he opened his mouth to reveal his ugly smile, "I always keep my word."

"That's for the best."

Silently watching Kingpin's huge back leave, Ivan turned to look at the blueprints in his hands again. The smile on his face was even more ferocious and ugly.

"Just a little longer, Stark. I'll see you again soon!"
