Fighting A Merman(Chapter 28)

"But I still need to test the effect of it, does it just restore the muscles to its original state or does it accelerate the body's naturally healing ability" Adam was intrigued. However, his introspection was abruptly interrupted as a sudden tension gripped his physical form. With eyes that was devoid of any soul that snapped open, his head instinctively turned his gaze toward the ocean, adam was still in his sea of consciousness as he thought of using his shortcut method of building his muscles. Yet, before he could delve deeper into his thoughts, he was forcefully pulled back to the waking world, his senses reeling from the abrupt transition.

As Adam stumbled out of bed, his mind still foggy from the sudden interruption to his rest, confusion clouded his thoughts. "What? I've never been pulled out of my own sea of con—" His words halted abruptly as recognition dawned, replaced by a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. "Ah, fucking instant dungeon," he muttered, his frustration palpable. This had become an all-too-familiar occurrence for Adam, whom he dubbed his predicament with a wry sense of irony. "What could it be now? It better not be a giant behemoth again. I can't really deal with a broken arm again; that shit takes too long to heal," he grumbled to himself as he made his way out of his boat home.

Stepping onto the deck, Adam scanned his surroundings, his senses on high alert. Despite the unmistakable signs of trouble, he found himself puzzled by the absence of any visible threats. "Huh, weird. I'm clearly in an instant dungeon, but there's no—" His words caught in his throat as a sharp projectile whizzed through the air, narrowly missing him before embedding itself into the doorframe beside him. Startled, Adam instinctively turned his gaze in the direction of the projectile's origin, only to be met with the sight of a menacing creature emerging from the water.

The creature, while not as massive as some of his previous adversaries, exuded an air of cunning and menace. It possessed a humanoid form, its muscular arms covered in green scales that shimmered in the faint light. Its head, with orange eyes gleaming with malice, boasted tiny, piranha-like teeth and ears resembling a fish's fin.

Realizing he needed to act swiftly, Adam wasted no time. With practiced precision, he began to weave the intricate patterns of the float spell, his movements fluid and purposeful. as he leaped backward, his body propelled upward by the magic coursing through his veins. Mid-air, a realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. "I can't fight it while on water; it's just a recipe for disaster—"

Before he could finish his thought, a powerful jet of water surged forth from the creature's gaping maw with alarming speed, piercing through the boat's hull with ease. Caught off guard, Adam braced himself as the force of the water jet slammed into his chest, sending him hurtling backward onto the sandy beach below. If not for the boat absorbing much of the jet's velocity, the outcome could have been far more dire. As Adam lay on the sand, the taste of salt lingering on his lips, he knew he had narrowly escaped catastrophe once again.

Adam tumbled onto the beach, the wet sand clinging to his skin as he struggled to breathe after the forceful impact. Before he could even attempt to draw in a lungful of air, the surface of the water churned, signaling the emergence of the creature in its true form. Towering above him at 13 feet long, its muscular body rippled with power, adorned with barnacles that lent it an eerie, otherworldly appearance. With a heavy thud, it landed on the shore, its sharp claws digging into the soft sand as it advanced towards Adam.

Desperation flooded Adam's veins as he scrambled backward, the creature's menacing form drawing nearer with each lumbering step. In a split-second decision, Adam summoned six large spinning arrows, launching them towards the creature with precision. However, the beast deflected the projectiles with its thick scaly arm, focused solely on reaching its prey. With a deafening roar, it summoned seven tendrils from the water, prompting Adam to activate his float spell and leap skyward, small wings sprouting from his ankles.

As he soared above the creature, Adam channeled his mana, forming a protective mana plate to parry one of the tendrils' strikes. The force of the impact shattered the mana plate, sending Adam crashing back to the ground with a grunt of pain. He struggled to his feet, casting healing lotus to mend his injuries even as the creature loomed over him, its orange eyes fixated on its prey.

With a snarl, the creature unleashed its arsenal of powers, spewing a powerful jet of water from its mouth in Adam's direction. Reacting quickly, Adam summoned his mana-string, attaching it to a nearby rock to yank himself out of harm's way. But the creature was relentless, its superhuman physique allowing it to close the distance between them with alarming speed.

Adam gritted his teeth against the pain as he unleashed his mana-sword, slashing at the creature's scaled hide with all his strength. Each blow elicited a guttural growl from the creature, but it only seemed to fuel its determination. Summoning his mana-snake as a distraction, Adam dodged another onslaught of tendrils, his movements fueled by a combination of adrenaline and sheer survival instinct.

Adam's mana-sword sliced through the air with a sharp whistle, meeting the creature's scaly hide with a resounding clash. With each strike, Adam poured his remaining strength into the blows, determined to wear down the formidable foe. The creature responded with ferocious snarls, its orange eyes gleaming with a primal fury that matched Adam's own determination.

Meanwhile, Adam's mana-snake slithered through the sand, its scales glinting in the moonlight as it darted and weaved around the creature's feet. With lightning-fast reflexes, it snapped and struck at the creature, distracting it from its relentless pursuit of Adam. The creature, however, was not easily swayed, swatting at the serpent with powerful swipes of its muscular arms.

As tendrils lashed out from the water, Adam danced and dodged with practiced agility, his movements fluid and precise despite the burning ache in his muscles. With each evasion, he calculated his next move, searching for any weakness in the creature's defenses. His mind raced, analyzing the shifting patterns of the battle and formulating strategies on the fly.
