arriving at Baldur's gate(chapter 37)

previusly on chapter 36

"Well, my first wyvern," Adam muttered to himself, his voice carrying a mixture of disbelief and amusement. "Surprisingly, it was quite easy. I wonder why... Anyways, what's next? A full-on dragon? At this point, why not just drop me in a world full of fantasy creatures?" His words trailed off as he pondered the unpredictability of his situation.

But before Adam could continue his musings, something unexpected happened. Without warning, he felt a sudden impact, knocking him off balance and sending him tumbling backward. "What the fuck!" he exclaimed, his senses reeling as he tried to regain clarity

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As he struggled to sit up, Adam found himself pinned beneath something heavy. With a grunt, he pushed the figure off of him, only to be met with a sight that left him speechless. Standing before him was a caveman, or at least someone who appeared to be one, complete with primitive attire and a bewildered expression.

"Who the fuck are you?" Adam demanded, his voice laced with confusion and irritation. The caveman, looking genuinely apologetic, began to speak. "I am so sorry, are you hurt? Any—" His words were cut off abruptly as his gaze fell upon something that seemed to shock him.

"Oh shit, kid, don't panic. Take a seat," the caveman said urgently, his eyes fixed on Adam's abdomen. Adam, now thoroughly perplexed by the situation, couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. "That is weird," he muttered to himself, "cavemen didn't speak modern English, let alone English. Or are you some sort of costumed hero or villain with a caveman theme?"

Before Adam could finish his thought, he followed the caveman's line of sight to his abdomen. There, stuck in his flesh, was a strange-looking knife with a glowing purple blade. "Oh, I am impaled," Adam remarked nonchalantly, though inwardly he was beginning to feel a twinge of concern.

The caveman, who had now identified himself as the lord of the Savage Land, Ka-Zar, seemed incredulous. "Oh, first of all, I am not a caveman," he explained hastily. "I am the lord of the Savage Land, Ka-Zar. And why are you so calm? You've just been stabbed!"

As Ka-Zar whispered into a communication device hidden on his person, Adam couldn't help but notice the urgency in his voice. "Ah, T'Challa, I might need some assistance," Ka-Zar murmured.

A wise voice replied through the coms, "What is the situation, Ka-Zar?"

Adam, still maintaining his calm facade despite the situation, interjected, "Ah, don't worry about it. I've had worse. In fact, I've been stabbed by monsters several times, so this isn't anything—" His words were abruptly cut off as he reached to remove the knife from his abdomen.

Ka-Zar's eyes widened in alarm as he yelled, "No, no don't—"

But it was too late. Adam had already pulled the knife free, and in that moment, everything seemed to dissolve around him. He felt as though he was being pulled apart at the seams, his body and mind unraveling.

In the blink of an eye, Adam vanished from existence, leaving behind only a faint shimmer of light where he once stood. As the light faded, the king of Wakanda, Black Panther, appeared in his full regal costume, a look of concern on his face.

"What is the situation?" Black Panther asked, turning to Ka-Zar, who looked crestfallen.

"The temporal dagger is gone," Ka-Zar explained with a heavy sigh. "And it's my fault." The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on him as he realised the consequences of Adam's disappearance.

-scene change-

From Adam's perspective, the moment he removed the dagger, a blinding flash of light enveloped him, disorienting his senses. He found himself standing in the middle of a forest clearing, the air heavy with the scent of pine and damp earth. The ground beneath his feet was soft with fallen leaves, and the distant sound of birdsong filled the air.

"What the he—" Adam began to say, but he was interrupted by a sharp pain in his abdomen. He winced, clutching at the wound as he cast Healing Lotus to mend the injury. The dagger in his hand seemed to have suffered some damage, its once-glowing blade now dimmed.

"Where am I?" he muttered to himself, scanning his surroundings. The forest was dense, with tall trees looming overhead, their branches swaying gently in the breeze. Adam's eyes flicked back to the dagger in his hand, a sense of unease creeping over him.

"This better not be a time-traveling knife, or I swear to God I am gonna..." His words trailed off as he heard a rustling in the nearby bushes. His senses went on high alert, a tingling sensation running down his spine. He knew he was being watched, surrounded.

"Huh, such a weak reaction only means that I am surrounded by weak monsters," Adam thought with a hint of confidence. After countless battles in the instant dungeon, he had developed a keen danger sense, always able to feel when danger lurked nearby. The sensation varied depending on the threat, and right now, it felt like a warning.

"It's probably some rodent or something," he muttered dismissively, continuing to focus on healing his wound. But when several creatures emerged from the underbrush, their forms resembling a mix of hyenas and scorpions, Adam's demeanor shifted.

"Oh, this is different," he remarked aloud, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the alpino hyenas. They were unlike anything he had encountered before, with spikes running along their spines and scorpion tails that glinted in the faint golden light.

The creatures closed in, studying him with predatory eyes. Adam remained still, seemingly unperturbed. "Alright, come closer, just a tiny bit more," he murmured under his breath, waiting for the opportune moment. When the hyenas were within striking distance, Adam acted.

With a deft motion, he cast Omni-Direction Vine Wave, sending a multitude of spiked vine roots sprouting outwards in all directions. The vines impaled the creatures, causing them to yelp and writhe in pain. Adam wasted no time, swiftly dispatching the monsters before they could regroup.

As the last of the hyenas fell, Adam let out a sigh of relief. He gathered their bodies, tucking them away for later disposal. "Well, that was unexpected," he muttered to himself, wiping sweat from his brow. Taking a moment to catch his breath, Adam turned his attention to the dagger in his hand. "The knife that brought me here just by being stabbed and removing it," he mused, his mind racing with possibilities. With a sense of caution, he sheathed the dagger at his waist, deciding it was best to keep it close.

With the forest behind him, Adam ventured forward, eventually coming upon a large city in the distance. The sight took his breath away, his mouth agape in awe. Tall stone walls surrounded the city, with grand gates that seemed to welcome travelers from afar.

A/N Well, ladies and gentlemen, that marks the end of the training arc, and Adam is finally out of the tutorial zone and into the open world of D&D. This will be a mix of D&D comics (like Minsc and his companions) and other D&D adventures (like Fox Machine). This will focus solely on the comics for now; I might explore the TV show aspect later, likely after Chapter 60. You will no longer have to watch Adam fight for his life every night. In fact, I am giving him a break. Instead, you will see him embark on a long journey into this high fantasy world full of wonders and technologies, where the answers to most of his problems lie (like how to avoid getting killed by bullets). But will this be easy? No. Will this be the end of Adam's adventures in the Marvel Universe? No, indeed. When he returns, it will just be him getting involved in other Marvel characters' shenanigans, and that's where the romance part of this fanfic begins. Anyways, sit back, relax, and try to enjoy this new volume.
