Awakening and meeting

-salem year 2000-

<Charles internal monologue>

It's been 10 years since Shen had been delivered to his doorstep. Since then a few more mutants have joined the school albeit their number is still lower than Charles had hoped for. Their prominent members still being just Him, Hank, and Logan. If only Raven and Erik would realize that their method was wrong. Still I wish I had a hint as to what was special about Shen. At first we believed it was something to do with animals with the way the animals in the area seem to flock to him but that is still up to debate if it is indeed his mutant power or due to some strange side effect the clay creature who brought him to us. Either way time will tell.

Before Charles can continue his thoughts a glowing light can be seen coming from the area Shen enjoyed hanging out with all of the animals. Rushing to him, Charles is met with the sight of Shen's eyes glowing blue as well as him assuming some form of meditative position a few feet off the ground .As the sun begins to set, the glowing begins to die down before a very excited Shen yells out

"I finally have a power like you and uncle Logan!" Shen

"Oh what my that be" Charles

"I have control over the 4 elements fire, earth, water, and air!" Shen

"That's quite the power you've gotten there. Do you have any idea what the glowing blue was about?" Charles

"The Avatar state" Shen

"The avatar state? What exactly does that do?" Charles

" It allows me to more effectively control the elements as well as a greater output of physical strength" Shen

"Seems you've had quite the awakening tonight, how about we turn in for the nigh and we can discuss more in the morning" Charles

—5 years later—

Now age 15 Shen was slowly beginning to grow into his own self. With his skin a healthy earthen brown, hair as white as ice and pupils a fiery red, the influence of the elements prevalent on his looks. Standing at a average 5ft5 he was excited to be in the middle of the growth spurt so that his uncle Logan would finally stop calling him pop squeak.

<Shen PoV>

Over the past few years more and more mutants have been arrive at the manor that has slowly transformed into a school of sorts due to the age of most of the arriving mutants. With the more notable ones being Scott and Alex Summers, Jean Gray, and a strange blue kid named Kurt Wagner. Thanks to the influence of Charles, the school was able to hire the best of the best to tutor the all of us. And much to Logan's displeasure he was unanimously appointed the history teacher.

My efficiency with my powers have grown greatly over the past 5 years, however not as much as I wished. There was a constant subtle push deep in my subconscious as if pushing me to get stronger.

Thanks to my constant training, I have managed to become a budding adept at controlling the elements. While being no where near the expert or master level like i would like, I was content with the progress so far. While under the influence of the avatar state, I was able to be one step closer to being a expert at it.

(Check author notes at the end where I expand upon how I'm tweaking the Avatar state. I explained a little bit at the beginning of the chap but I give a more in depth explanation at end)

As Shen begins to get ready for his normal day to day a alarm goes off alerting the manor of a intruder in the basement levels.

Rushing to the basement levels, Shen is welcomed to the sight of a tall blue man surrounded by 4 others. What stood out to Shen the most about the intruders was a certain white haired woman that seemed close to his age. He felt a strange connection to the woman that he could not explain. As the woman turned and locked eyes with Shen a invisible lightning bolt seemed to travel between the two as the both trembled.

Snapping out of his stupor, Shen notices that the tall blue man seemed to notice whatever strange event just happened between the two.

"Hoho well would you look at that, it seems Charles isn't the only extraordinary individual I would stumble upon today" the blue man chuckles

Without giving the man a response Shen uses his air bending to dash past the man and get beside Charles and Hank

"What's going on Charles and who is this?" Shen

"This man is known as Apocalypse. He wants to take over the world and rebuild it in his image." Charles

About that time Alex comes sprinting down the corridor and notices the group around apocalypse sending a blast towards him. Portaling back to where he came from along with his companions minus the white haired woman who for reasons even unknown to her dove to the side to keep from being teleported with the group she came with.

With barely any time to spare, Shen earth bends a spike of compressed earth through to ceiling to interrupt the beams travel path to keep it from destroying anything.

As if on queue the rest of the older mutants arrive on scene to give their support only to find a exhausted Charles and a white haired woman surrounded by Alex, Shen, and Hank

"I surrender?" The white haired woman says in a almost comical tone

"While no serious damage was done we really need you to tell us everything you know about apocalypse" Charles

"I'll tell you everything I know" the woman replies

(A.n. So on the Avatar state I'm going to tweak it a little bit so that it works kinda similar to kaio-kin from dbz. Since he is the first avatar in the dimension there really isn't any past lives for him to pull from so that was the best way I could think to make it be super useful. I'm going to however make it also be super useful it terms of its spiritual nature. I have some more plans for it but that's all I'm going to let on you for now so as to not ruin all the surprise)
