Chapter 10: Library

Step after step, the gold haired kid finally passed those stair that seemed to never and arrived in front of the sect's entrance, huge wooden doors with dragon carved on them presenting to his sapphire like eyes.

...

The library's entrance seemed like a graveyard: silence reigning over and not a single living soul being present.

So, since no one was there to open the doors, he tried to push them, but despite him using all of his strength those didn't buldge of even an inch.

~Knock~

~Knock~

Mo Fan now tried knocking to see if someone was inside, but no answer came from the other size of the boulder-size wooden doors and so he tried again, this time increasing the intensity with which he knocked on them.

"No, Head Elder, I won't let you destroy the library just to build a training hall in its stead! Now go fuck yourself and let me sleep peacefully!" Now a reply came, but it was rude and angressive. Fortunately, it wasn't directed to him as he had been mistaken as the Head Elder by the person inside.

"Ehm, Librarian Zhu, I'm not the Head Elder, it's just me, a mere disciple" Mo Fan said.

"Ah, really? I guess I should've guessed that from your weak aura" the librarian said, the sound of his voice mixing up with the one of his steps as he was probably going to open the doors to permit to the strenghtless disciple to get in and do what he had to do inside the library.

The huge dragon twin doors, that was their name, slowly started to open, the inside of the library becoming gradually more visible to the gold haired kid's blue eyes: books were scattered everywhere, all of the bookshelves full, not even a space for dust to gather left.

His eyes shone at the sight of so many books: he was wondering just how strong he would become by learning all of the martial skill stored inside this amazing bank of literature.

Seeing such enthusiasm from the boy, the librarian couldn't help himself, but be touched as youngsters those days didn't know how to appreciate a good book and were only interested in the martial skills of the library, which was the only reason they even bothered to get there. Finally, he had found a boy which eyes shone at the sight of pure books... or atleast, this was what he was thinking.

"So, librarian Zhu, where I can find middle grade Ordinary Martial Skills?" the boy asked with pure excitement, but not so excited was the old librarian at hearing Mo Fan's words, the first opinion he had of him immediately changing "You're just like the other slack off bitches! You always go after martial skills! Martial skills here, martial skills there! Read a goddamn book sometime! They are free! They are fucking free for Buddha's sake!!"

"What? They are free?!" Mo Fan said, startled, as he really had no idea about it "Then why didn't anyone ever told me about this?! I would have definitely frequented this place a lot more often"

"Why? Do you perhaps like books as well?" the old librarian immediately asked, his mood completely changing as he understood from his words that there could have been a possibility that he liked books.

"No, but..." Mo Fan began, the first word he spoke having already shattered all of the old librarian's hopes.

"I can always learn to love them, right?" He continued with a wide smile on his face, his white and perfect teeths emitting a strong light, which nearly blinded the old librarian.

"Yes, you're right, young kid" librarian Zhu said, the shattered hopes he had, immediately recomposing as if it was a puzzle at the gold haired kid's words "Then, what do you think about reading The journey of the lone cultivator ? It is really a great read and it even actually has a lot of tricks to make cultivation easier in real life stored inside his countless pages"

"Ehm, but if I take this one, will I be able to take other books as well or do I have to finish reading this first?" Mo Fan asked, because since all of the books were free, the desire of reading a lot of them came to life inside of him. Was he such a lover of books? Like he said before, no. But the the reason behind this desire of his was that he could learn a lot of new things from them like for example medicine, agriculture, economy and even blacksmithing techniques. So, if he wasn't successfull in the martial path, he would have a lot of other skills he could live off.

The librarian's eyes started shining at the question of the young boy "Yes! You can take all of the books you want! If you want, you can even take the whole library home!"

"Really? Then I should pack a lot of them" Mo Fan said, the old librarian immediately taking an empty pack "Then, why don't we start now? I'll make you know the true power of books!"

"W-wait, librarian Zhu" the gold haired kid was startled as the old book keeper already started filling the pack with books.

"Why?" the librarian asked, completely stopping what he was doing and just looking at the young boy with questioning looks.

"Well, I-I think that I should go to choose a martial skill first..." Mo Fan said, but upon noticing the face of the old librarian gradually saddening, he added "So based on it, we can actually choose some books to help me master it more rapidly"

"Yes, that's a bright idea, young kid!!" librarian Zhu exclaimed at the gold haired boy's suggestion "Then, let's go to the first floor! I'll help you choose the best Middle Ordinary martial skill present here!"

And so, the two of them didn't waste any more time and headed straight to the first floor of the library, which surprised Mo Fan quite a lot: there, instead of the precedent floor, books weren't present at all, countless scrolls filling the bookshelves instead.
