Chapter 14

Ai Lin heaved a sigh of relief. After a long persuading session with Mu Zihan, finally that man conceded and went to his office. Only then Ai Lin felt the true meaning of freedom.

With a victory smile, Ai Lin started exercising her legs. Although she still unable to walk smoothly like before but at least she could move around already. She loosened her legs muscle and walked back and forth in her living room.

She finally stopped her exercising activity after her throat screaming for water. She went to her kitchen to find drinking water but only halfway there her doorbell rang. She halted her steps and frowned.

Thinking it was the bodyguards Mu Zihan left for her, she walked towards the door limply and opened it. However, the tall and slender figure stood in front of her shocked her silly.

" F… Feng ge, what are you doing here?" She asked with an awkward smile pasted on her face. She never thought Lu Qi Feng would appear in instant once she came back here.

She knew her sudden disappearance would make him anxious but she already decided to end her crush on Lu Qi Feng. Thus, she didn't contacted him all this while. She tried her best to stay away from him to avoid from being hurt looking at him and his fiancée and yet he voluntarily came to her. Although she was happy to see him but there's a stuffy feeling in her heart that she's unable to describe.

Instead of answering her question, Lu Qi Feng entered her house and sat on the sofa without waiting for Ai Lin's offering. His sharp eyes wandering around her house looking for the stranger guys mentioned by his hired investigator earlier but he found none.

" You watch the television first. I'll bring something to drink for you." And with that Ai Lin limply strode to the kitchen again. Her mind went blank.

" Halt! What happened to your leg?" Lu Qi Feng quickly moved towards Ai Lin. He was shocked to see her limping. His hired investigator did told him Ai Lin was in wheelchair but seeing her opened the door while standing, he thought it was nothing.

Ai Lin was startled when Lu Qi Fend abruptly popped up in front of her and held her hand. With anxious stare, he scrutinized Ai Lin up and down repeatedly.

" It's nothing much. I hurt it accidentally." Feeling uncomfortable with his stare, Ai Lin brushed off his hands and stepped back. If possible she didn't want him to know about her injuries thus she only made some ambiguous remark.

" You know you will never be able to lie to me!"

Ai Lin couldn't help but twitching when he threw a sharp glare and cold tone towards her. In front of the angry Lu Qi Feng, Ai Lin became helpless and turned timid suddenly.

After looking carefully at the petite lady in front of him, Lu Qi Feng realized her face was a bit pale and didn't look vigorous as she used to be before. However he couldn't find any single wound or even a scratch at her exposed face and hands. With a deep frown, he knelt down and reached out his hand to hold Ai Lin's tiny feet.

" Let me take a look."

Once his cold fingers touched her skin, Ai Lin felt like being electrocuted. Thus she quickly moved her feet away from him. Although they had been a close buddy for each other for almost a decade but she's still not used to expose her skin to others excessively nor being touched by others on her feet. Usually she would wear a loose shirt and long pants wherever she went and she rarely wear a skirt or exposing outfit.

Only after being hospitalized this time, she opened up herself a bit to Mu Zihan who adamantly wanted to take care of her by himself. Well… In truth it was not a bit. It's so much! But it's not like she had a choice at that time though. Moreover it's not like she exposed everything to Mu Zihan. She was wrapped in bandage everywhere and almost looked like a mummy.

" I… It's really nothing. You sit first, I'll get you some water." Ai Lin quickly ran away without waiting for Lu Qi Feng's respond. She really disliked to be in this awkward situation with someone she used to love. She already started to draw a line between them but why must he came and made the line faded. Haihhh.

Lu Qi Feng squinted his eyes looking at the fleeing figure. His heart felt discomfort. He knew she was hiding something from him but he couldn't figure it out. He really wanted to know what it was badly but he didn't want to force her. He determined to take it slowly and made her spilled the beans voluntarily.

" I'll help you."

Lu Qi Feng creased his brows looking at Ai Lin who was carrying two bottles of drinking water while limping. Thus he walked towards her, took the bottles from her hand and headed to the living room without waiting for her reply.

Ai Lin stood stiff. She felt guilty towards Lu Qi Feng for hiding the actual matter that happened to her but she didn't want him to be more worried than now. Moreover, it was better for both of them to not be too closed anymore, lest his fiancée would be jealous. Yeah, it was better this way.
