Chapter 32
Chris goes to pick Laura from work and they head home together while Laura tell Chris about her day and how the launch is going.
Ater Chris threatened the sue anyone who tries to write lies about them, the news was changed to something else and that has really help to promote the company and happy home has received very good review online
"Are you even listening to me?" Laura asked seeing Chris is no longer concentrating
"Yeah, am sorry what did you say again?" he apologized
"What are you thinking about? Is there a problem?" Laura asked concerned
"No its nothing just tired" he answered
"Was I boring you with my talks?" Laura asked again unhappy that he won't tell her everything while she always reveal everything about herself to him.
Chris turned to her and seeing her face, he smiled and held her hand across the seat then let her rest her head on his shoulders
"No, am really just tired from working" he told her and she smiled and soon they got home and went in together
"Will you like me to prepare something for you first or…""Don't bother yourself with that, we can just order something or go out to eat" he said and Laura agreed, she is also tired and need to get some rest
"come over here" Chris said and pull her back
"Why don't we just sleep in my room together" he said playfully and Laura smiled then hit him lightly on the shoulder.
The two lean in for a kiss but Chris's mother interrupt them as she come looking very angry and screamed Chris name. The two pull away from each other and turned to her
"Are you really going to continue living with her?" she yelled at Chris completely ignoring Laura's presence
"Are you really my son? How can you let yourself be deceived by a loose girl like this and disobey your parents?" she yelled more and Laura was upset
"Loose girl?" Laura repeated pissed off
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Chris asked also annoyed to hear her say that
"Am I wrong? She is with you and still going out with her ex boyfriend, isn't she trying to bring shame to you and our family" she yelled yet again and Laura lost her patient
"I am not with Avan anymore and I did not cheat on your son" she said trying to clam down
"I wasn't talking to you, am talking to my son" she replied and turned back to Chris who looks inpatient
"Leave my son's life, I don't want you as his wife"
"I am not going to leave!" Laura yelled back to match her tone and walk closer to her
"Chris and I are married and we are not getting a divorce, as long as he doesn't tell me to leave am not going to and even if he wants that then its between the both of us" Laura said all in one breathe stunning the shocked woman
She never except Laura to talk back at her face and even respond to her in that manner at all.
She stood there for a minute unable to talk before finding her voice but Chris already step in
"Mom, leave" Chris simply said and pull hee gently with him towards the door. She snatched her hand away looking livid
"You are throwing me out of your house because of her?" she asked in disbelieve
"Our house, she is the owner of this house too and your presence is really not needed here" he told her and walk her to the door
"Am sure your husband must be excepting you home, bye" he said before closing the door in her face and walk back to meet Laura who is still upset
"Look, am sorry about my mom.. I will.." he tried to pacify her but Laura shunned him and walk to her room
"Where are you going?" he asked following after her
"Going to sleep, you can go with your mom" she replied angrily and slam the door in his face

Laura wakes up a little bit late and took her bath first before going to get something to eat in the kitchen not bothering to check on Chris in his room. As she walks, she could perceive some pleasant smells coming from the kitchen and hurried towards it to see Chris busy dishing food into a plate
"What are you doing?" she asked and moved closer to him
"You are awake! I wanted to get you some breakfast in bed" he said disappointed and Laura smiled then hugged him
"When did you wake up to do all this?" she asked pleasantly surprised. Chris didn't answer her question but instead fed her from the food which she took happily and chew silently nodding her head satisfactorily
"Wow! This is good" she told him and then feed him some also
"Take this, I need to clean up" he said as he handed over to her their plates of food and she took them and went out. They both shared a lovely breakfast not talking about yesterday and left for work together

Laura got to her office and settled down but didn't see Clara and waited for a few more minutes for her to come to her but she didn't.
When it was almost time for the annual meeting, she stood up and walk to her office to check up on her but is surprised to see no one there
"Where is Clara?" she asked the guy sharing the same office with her and he told her that he hasn't seen her since he arrived
"Call her and tell her to come in immediately, meanwhile you will have to come in for today's meeting and take her place" she said and went back in to her office then when it is time for the meeting, she stood up and went in with him
The meeting lasted for about four hours and when it was done, Clara is still not in the office or anywhere in the company, Laura bought out her phone to call her but she couldn't get through to her likewise her coworkers which made Laura a little worried
Clara has always been diligent and never missed any day of work without a proper excuse and permission from Laura directly so her absence baffles Laura and she decide to visit her after work…
…Laura pull up in front of Clara's house and a chauffeur took her keys to park the car, Laura thanked him and walk towards her house number.
She look around the building and is surprised that Clara lives in a big and rich place like this.
She remembers that one of her friends told her she lives in the same place and when she remembers the price for the house, Laura is shocked by how expensive it is.
Clara is being paid well working as her secretary but for her to be able to afford this place and pay the money for it means she must have a strong backup or someone supporting her behind the scene
Laura got to her door and her house is on the thirteenth floor among twenty other floors.
Laura press the bell and wait patiently for her to open the door but after a minute the door is still locked. She press one more time and a thought came to her
"What if she is dying inside?" Laura thought and panicked then she quickly start to think on what her pass-code could be.
She tried a few combination but it was wrong then she remembered that Clara once told her that her ex boyfriend's birthday is the same with Avan's and decide to try it and check.
Surprisingly, it was correct and the door opened, Laura rushed in and called out to her but she still didn't get any response so she search round the house till she finds the bedroom and entered.
There she saw Clara laying down on the bed lifelessly and rush to her calling her name loudly
Clara opened her eyes slightly and is surprised to see Laura instead of Avan.
She tried to sit up and Laura helped her then she helped clean off the tears from her face
"What happened? Why are you crying?" she questioned worriedly.
