Laura move into Chris's house a few days later and a party was organized in celebration of their union and also the cooperation between the two companies, after Chris's family all heard about the news they were not pleased at all. His mother especially did not want to believe it and Mira also wasn't having it fun
Mira is the daughter of his uncle's friend and although Chris never agreed to anything but she is all over him and had even at a point in time asked his uncle directly about what he thinks if they both get married
Chris tried to convince his mother that its not because of anything in the past but its purely business which she reluctantly believe. He was not able to go to the venue with Laura because of his mother and went with her and Mira instead, they soon arrive at the party and Laura there already talking and making a toast with a lot of people
She sight him as he entered and quickly walk over to him with a smile on her face, she greeted his mother cheerfully and nod her head in greetings at the other girl which she doesn't seems to be able to recognize then she link her hands together with Chris
He was sightly surprised but already start to get used to her behaviour so he just continued inside with her, the both of them stopped in front of a group of girls and Chris recognize a few of them as their school mate
"I see the groom is here after all" Diana, her cousin said not so pleased that Laura got to marry before her
"why do you keep Avan for all this years if you are going to get married to someone without a name" Kayla also chipped in
"Its Chris and also I don't think my love life is something you should be concerned it" Laura retaliate
"yeah sure, but are you sure he wont act like your dad and also…" Kayla was saying while Chris stepped forward stopping her words
"what? Is your husband trying to defend you or he's just angry at been accused for who he is?" Diana said insultingly
"just shut up and stuff your face with some food" Laura replied angrily and pull Chris back to herself
"If you say anything you shouldn't then I wouldn't hesitate to throw you all out of here" she added and turned away from them
"you don't have to get angry, you know the way they are so don't take their words to heart" Laura told Chris after leaving there
"what about you? Are you not mad?"
"not anymore, am used to their sarcasm" she answered and Chris smirked amaze
Before Laura could say another word, his mother and Mira walk over to them with a frown on their faces with Mira's hand wrapped around his mother shoulders
"mom" Chris called out but her eyes were fixed on Laura instead
"how have you been?" Laura asked trying to strike up a conversation between them but she scoffed instead
"so you still recognized me, I thought you saw us as a nobody years back. I don't just understand why you decide to get married to my son now"
"so she is actually the woman that left Chris when he has nothing and she came back now when he's doing fine, what kind of woman is that?" Mira also added
"mom, Mira please stop, this not the place for this" Laura smiled instead not affected by their words
"and who are you?" she suddenly asked facing Mira who was not so pleased with her question
"Am Mira, the woman Chris loves a lot" she answered pissed off
"am his wife-to-be if you didn't pull any trick behind my back" Laura stared at Chris shocked to hear that he has someone already and still asked her to marry him,
"could he have become a playboy after she rejected him then?" she thought. His mother and Mira left them still annoyed
Laura grabbed a glass of wine from one of the waiters and gulped it all down at once, Chris snatched the glass from him
"what's wrong? Are you having a second rethink?" Chris whispered
"why didn't you tell me you have someone you are dating?" she whispered back
"are you feeling bad about it?" he answered, Laura keep quiet without answering his question and took another glass of wine instead
"stop drinking too much, you are the host" he cautioned and took the glass from her then asked the waiter to leave them
"why haven't I received a single sincere greetings from anyone? Do you think its because they hate me so much" Chris kept silence before replying her
"Congratulations on getting married" Chris said to cheer her up but Laura looked at him confused
"Am trying to make up for everyone who didn't congratulate you sincerely" he explained
"oh! But why does it seems like am married to myself, your words sound like a stranger's" she said still not satisfied
"Then congratulation to us, happy cooperation together" he repeated while Laura smiled happily
"congratulations to you also" she said blushing, obviously drunk.
Chris smiled at her cute look as he sip his glass slowly. Laura suddenly draw him closer to herself and wrapped her hands around his neck smiling at him sweetly. He tried to remove her hands from his neck but she was proving stubborn and he just let her be when people start to look in their direction
"will you like to go to the restroom so you can relieve yourself a little, you look drunk" Laura shook her head refusing to listen to him and placed her head on his chest closing her eyes as she continued to rub her body on his, an action which made more people to pay close attention to them
Everyone was sure that she must have had an arranged or contract marriage just of business and they are there to neither mock her or watch a s how unfold there but here she is, actually cuddling with him and more people turned to focus on them
Chris look around for Clara to help him but she was nowhere in sight and Laura continued to touch and rub his body all over, she suddenly opened her eyes to see everyone staring at them and whispering, then she childishly and drag Chris over to the front then grab a microphone
"I, Laura present to everyone present here my husband and also business partner" she announced drunkenly and before Chris could manage to stop her, she held his face and plant a kiss on his lips.
Everyone gasp in shock while some clapped amused and cheering for them. Chris was shocked but didn't pull away from her but instead held her closer and kissed her also. Some bitter faces like Mira and Chris mother turned their face away in disgust
