Chapter 7 Interested in you

Wearing the white apron over the black frock and tights, I felt so robotic and dolled up. It was the first time in my life I was wearing such a dress.

Heaving a deep sigh, I walked out of the room and searched for the kitchen from where I was supposed to take the juice. I didn't understand what the hell Jacob went to after leaving me. Of course, he was a busybody but he should be responsible.

In the kitchen, the mango juice was ready and it had filled the jug. From the room beside, I brought a glass and poured the juice inside before placing it on a coffee tray and moving towards the grand hall that was built about twenty steps ahead of the kitchen.

Since life was unfair to me the most, I accepted the fact gladly that he wasn't there. I walked to the guy who was standing, leaning his back against the wall. Maybe, he could tell me about the arrogant's trace.

"Excuse me, did you see.... Alpha... I mean his Majesty?" I asked, tried to sound polite and soft. I couldn't bear to lose this job until the moment I found out about my mom.

The guy looked up at me. He had dimples on his creamy cheeks, below his flavorful gray eyes. "I am sorry, I didn't recognize. Who is this?" He asked and poked the paper inside his pocket he was holding in his hand a while ago.

"His personal maid." I thought he will understand discerning my clothes.

His expression downed immediately and his brows crooked. "When did he get himself such a cute maid? That jerk doesn't tell me about anything." He kept muttering to himself.

"Pardon?" I became confused, not understanding what he said just now.

The dimples of his cheeks had crinkled. "I am his best friend, Alex." He introduced himself and extended his hand. "By the way, you are so gorgeous. Are you single, Miss?"

Gorgeous? Single? Well, I was wrong. He wasn't sweet but a flirt. "Actually... I am not..."

"Stop flirting with her." The loud manly voice almost made me jump. Turning back, I discovered Lee standing behind me.

His eyes were darkened, glaring sharply at the man in front of me.

"You are here." said Alex, his best friend.

"I am going to catch you soon. Don't run away." Lee paused and gazed over me for a while, probably taking his time to recall me. "And you, follow me."

I blinked my eyes twice before nodding my head and hurrying to follow him closely. I didn't know where he was going but I did as I was told.

Crossing the stairway, we were now passing through the hallway that offered dozens of rooms. I was lost until he stopped and entered a room.

The room was glowing with incredible decorations using flowers, vases, and frames. Even the ceiling had engraved enchanting designs and blazing stones. All the pieces of furniture were well polished.

"Come in." He ordered. Damn, he was the really king here.

I hardly controlled my blood from rushing upward as I stepped into the room and placed the tray on the coffee table surrounded by a pair of luxury couches.

Lee's gaze dropped on the tray. "The tray... it's not mine." He said softly.

The man named Harris must have forgotten to tell me about the tray. "I am sorry. I will... change the tray and come back."

"Not necessary. I don't want the juice anymore." He said and shoved his hands through the pockets of his black jeans.

What the fuck! How can you not want it after making me walk me all the way?

"Okay." I was being patient here, his luck was good enough. Carrying the tray again, I started turning around but his voice stopped me.

"I am not finished yet."

I looked at him and repressed a frustrated sigh. "I am sorry." I was tired already. This man was so annoying.

His gaze was so cold and almost impossible to read. "You are not really married, are you?" He seemed so satisfied and pleased all of a sudden.

I shook my head, lying again. "I am."

The man slowly stepped towards me and grabbed my left hand. Cold. His hand was so cold. Shivers were sent through my spines. I gasped and gripped onto the tray with one hand, stopping it from falling. "W-what are you..."

He glanced down at my fingers and smirked. "Where is your ring?" He had remarked the main evidence.

I mutely cursed myself for not being smart enough. I should have remembered about the ring. "I forgot to..."

"Girls don't forget these things." He asserted as if he was so experienced in this particular topic.

I managed to bring sarcasm to my voice. "Seems like you really know a lot about girls."

He nodded proudly. "I do. I had girlfriends before. And now, I have a fiancee. Even though I am not interested in her, I sometimes need to spend time with her."

What a jerk! He was so being proud of not being interested in his fiancee and having girlfriends. "Why are you telling me all these?" I never knew that a king would be so friendly to his maid.

"Exactly. Why am I?" He tilted his head and stepped even closer. I got scared and immediately took a step back. Yet, it didn't stop him. He closed the distance and brought his face down until his nose slightly brushed mine.

Gulping, I held my breath back. My heart skipped a few beats in a row. I had never been so close to a man before.

Letting out a soft chuckle, he stole a glance at my lips before meeting my gaze, still holding my hand in his. "Perhaps, I am interested in you?"
