Chapter 16 If I die

"What does he usually eat?" I asked the cook of the castle. Since I needed to choose the lunch for him, I didn't avoid it and left the chore unfinished and queued.

"He usually likes spicy deer's meat." The cook replied, wearing the kitchen apron. She looked tired with the eye bags beneath the beautiful pair of brown eyes. She was not even thirty, could be twenty five or even younger.

"Do you have beef?" I asked, my heart and voice both softened taking the glimpse of the large fireplace behind her.

She nodded. "Yes. Please note that it should not be less than three dishes in each meal." These people knew how to torture the poor people.

I restrained my tone from turning sarcastic. "That's great. Make juicy beef steak, spicy wedges, oven-baked vegetables with the mix of carrots, beets, and potatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil." These were the dishes I preferred in my every lunch. But I could never afford them.
