Chapter 4 - Keily Evergreen

[Resting, Keily Evergreen opened her eyes wakes inside a void. There Keily raises her light brown eyes in search of answers. Turning, Keily finds a small pocket of light in the far distance. Keily then makes her way toward the profound discovery. Abruptly, she awakens in her soft, queen sized bed in her apartment while short of breath and in a cold sweat.]

"Gah! Huh! Mm... Huh... A dream! It was just a dream! Clam down... Calm down. "

[Drawing in quick, shallow breaths, Keily turns to her nightstand and picks up her prescribed inhaler. Drawing in a deep breath, Kelly clears her throat as she slides out from her bed.]

[Flipping the switch in her bathroom, the bright light in the ceiling made Keily scrunch her eyes. Taking a seat over the toilet, Keily slides the screen on her smartphone as she reads about what her freinds and colleagues have been doing.]

"Huh... Way to go, Miranda. You finally managed to snag a normal guy for once instead of those stuck up perverts... Let's see who else... Hm? Hah! Haha! Oh, I can't believe this -- she actually went and got a tattoo on her ass! Hah-... Haha! "

[After taking a quick shower, Keily dressed in a white, button blouse and a long, black, thight skirt. Sliding up her stockings, Keily slid into her black work heels as she rolled up her hair into a bun. Standing over the mirror, Keily effortlessly shifted her posture as she took several minutes posing in front of the mirror.]

"Ugh... Miranda -- you are a size too small. I still can't believe she gave me these expensive clothes... Just goes to show, I look damn good! "

[Taking off for work, Keily took the 5:00 o'clock train to her to where shen needed to be. Walking inside and standing over the railing, the inside of the cart was packed with several dozen of other people going to work the same as Keily. Squeezing in and leaning forward as people brushed up behind Keily, a sharp glare soon erupted from Keily as she felt a hand grope her inner tigh as soon as the train started moving.]

"Hoh... This mother-"

[Turning her angered glare toward the floor, a little boy stood looking up at Keily as he was getting shuffled around within the packed crowd. Seeing that the little boy was feeling guilty after meeting Keily's gaze, Keily shifted her posture and pulled the little boy into her small space.]

"Kid, where is your mother or father? "

[Shaking his head, tears abruptly fell down the little boys face as he gripped his grade school backpack. The little boy lowered his head and then grabbed onto Keily's blazer. Feeling terrible, a pit in Keily's stomach soon possessed her to take the little boy to the nearest security box as soon as the next stop.]

"Right. And this kid, does he have a name? "

"Uh, yes. Sorry! I haven't talked that much with him. I only know that he got separated from his parents or something. "

"Right... Ugh. Sorry, if I lool like I am not that invested. But, you'd be surprised by how many lost kids we get here. Don't worry, I already notified the local police precinct. They should be coming here to pick up the kid in a few while, give-or-take. "

"Is it alright if... I can wait with the boy? "

"Don't you got somwhere to be, miss? "

"I do. But leaving a child -- no offense, but I simply want to see him turned over to the authorities properly. Maybe I just watch to much TV. "

"Sure... Knock yourself out. "

[A soft, false smile shone over Keily's face. Turning to the little boy, Keily sat down beside the boy lightly as she shifted her long, luscious brown hair while getting a call. Keily answered and explained she would be running a late to work.]

"Right. So, now that I am free -- hey kid, want to grab something to eat? "

[With a soft, vacant nod, Keily stood and stuttered as she felt the little boy's small hand in her palm. Walking out into the street overhead, Keily and the little boy crossed the busy morming street and arrived at an open coffeshop.]

"Uh, one medium coffee. The heavier, the better... And for the boy, a single orange juice... and a muffin. "

"Okay! We'll call you when your order is ready. "

[Smiling contently, as soon as Keily turned away, she made an irritated expression as she mouthed what the girl behind the counter had said. Taking a seat at an open table along the glass window overlooking the busy street and sidewalk, Keily resumed typing on her phone as the little boy began playing with the sugar packets on the table.]

"Miss Keily!? "

[Getting up, Keily walked back from the counter and to the table and handed the little boy an orange juice as well as a steamy muffin. Sipping from her cup, Keily continued tapping on her phone with one hand as she rolled her eyes quickly across the screen in rapid succession. Unbeknownst to her, the little boy had left the table and wandered around the inside of the shop.]

"Shoot! I better drop the kid off -- where'd he go? Oh no! Kid-"

[Stunned when she quickly stood up and turned to her side. A sudden breath of relief left Keily's chest as the little boy stood waiting for Keily. Taking the boy back to the security box, Keily saw the little boy off as two police officers came to pick him up.]

"Hm? That kid seemed familiar? "

[Flashback of a conference two months ago with a small company shareholder.]

"Miss Keily, this is Mr. Lon and Ms. Jolent. "

"Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance, thank you for your generous donation. "

"Oh, no need to formal! We have been in the meaning to put pur moment to some good use. All for the rendition of an art gala. "

"He-he... Right. Oh, who is this beautiful young lady? "

"Hoh -- miss Keily, this is-"

[Coming around in a panic, Keily's colleague soon informed of an emergency concerning an abrupt fire in the men's bathrooms on the first floor of the building.]

"Right! I apologize! Hurry, lead the way! "

[Passing several strangers, Keily only glanced from the corner of her eye as two men dressed as cleaners, casually walked down the see-through glass staircase. Immediately recalling their faces in near-perfect detail, Keily soon recognized something was wrong as the two police officers that toom the kid looked exactly the same. Rushing to Real ch up to them as they had gotten in their cruiser, Keily stopped.]

"Wait! "

[Feeling her heart thump in an explosive manner, Keily turned and raised her gaze at the men already in their seats inside the cruiser. Unable to look back at the little girl in the backseat, Keily's asthma started acting up yet, despite the fear, Keily acted calmly.]

"Do you mind if I can hug the little boy? You know, single woman in her twenties, I've taken a liking to the kid. "

[Uncertain on how they would react to her scattered mind, the two casually nodded reluctantly and let the little girl out of the car for a final hug. Leaning down, the little girl soon flew into the sky as Keily'snap judgment took the better of her and she ran off with the girl after recognizing who she was exactly from before.]

"I won let you hurt her! Help! They are trying to take her! "

[Blushing, out of breath, and still racing with all her might, Keily suddenly heard the little girls voice.]

"Those men... They were hired murderers... My parents paid to kill my uncle... "

"What?! Why... What!? "

"They are highered contract killers! My mommy told my papa and I heard them plan-to kill my uncle! I told them to stop it but they didn't wake up anymore! I ran away when they began break the doors in the morning looking for me. "

[A terrible, excruciating knot took hold of Keily's stomach. Stepping over the busy road, Keily ran barefoot as she knew she needed to escape and get help. However, as she crossed the busy morning road, a speeding police cruiser soon caught her eye. In a last ditch effort, Keily violently turned, causing the little girl to fly from off her back and land onto the pavement while Keily took the full bront of the car.]

[In her last moments, Keily looked up at the bright blue and hazy sky. Leaving the world without warning, she heard the sound of sirens off in the distance. Before long, Keily fell asleep... Until she awoke again, however, in an enterely different world it seemed.]
