Dad's Unexpected Visit: Brewing Love and Coffee

I feel really blessed to have Declan as my brother. As I pour coffee in the coffee mug, the door bell rings and I walk towards the door and open it. Stefan is beaming down at me. He seems quite happy today. He rides a Dodge Viper, a car gifted by dad on his last birthday. He is only 17 but doesn't look like that.

"What's up sis?" he asks smiling and walking inside.

"I'm good. How was school today?" I ask him closing the door.

"It was awesome" he says smiling and sits on the couch.

"You seem quite happy today" I say.

"Yeah, can you just believe I've been selected as the basketball team captain this year", he says.

He is smiling and beaming. I feel so happy for him. I am so proud of my little brother who has grown up to become a good looking tall guy. I find a lot of similarity between him and Declan, though Declan is taller than him.

"Wow, that is great. I am so proud of you" I say smiling.

"Thank you sis" he says returning my smile.

"Would you like to have a cup of coffee?" I ask him as I walk towards the kitchen.

"Yeah, sure. I'll just change and come" he says and climbs the stairs.

I pour the remaining coffee in another cup and walk to the living room and place Stefan's cup on the table and sit on the couch. He comes and sits across me and I pass him the cup of coffee.

We sit in silence and sip our coffee. The door bell rings again and Stefan goes to open the door. I literally jump off the couch because dad is standing at the door. Stefan gives him a hug and I place my cup on the table and literally run towards the door.

"Dad" I say running towards him.

He pulls me into a tight hug and walks inside still holding me while Stefan carries his suitcase inside and closes the door.

"Look at you, you have become so skinny" he says sitting on the couch and winking at Stefan.

Stefan breaks into a laughter and dad joins him.

"Please dad, stop embarrassing me" I say laughing.

"So, how is your experience as an undergraduate?" he asks.

"It's great dad and I have made a couple of friends" I say.

"That's really great. I am really happy for you sweetie" he says smiling.

Both of my parents have been addressing me as sweetie since as long as I can remember. Dad is an army officer but he isn't that strict. He believes in giving us some freedom. Mom is complete opposite and I think she should have been an army officer instead.

She is understanding and sweet but can be very strict at times. Mom says that the two of them met at a friend's wedding party. There dads were friends so they insisted in introducing their children to one another. Dad says he had instantly fallen in love with her at the very first sight. Mom however says that she had found him quite attractive but didn't fall in love at first sight.

They started seeing each other more often. Dad was quite daring as an army officer, so he proposed to her after their fifth meeting. He says she was quite hesitant at first but accepted his proposal and they dated for five years and got married. I was born just as they were approaching their first anniversary and Stefan was born two years later.

They are a perfect couple. They are always there for each other and help in taking most difficult decisions in one another's life. Mom wanted to stop working when Stefan was 2 but dad motivated her to work from home and not give up. She says that if she is the CEO of her company, a production house, it is because of dad.

"Sweetie, I would like a cup of coffee" dad says and I come back to reality.

"Sure dad, I'll bring right away" I say.

As I walk into the kitchen, the door bell rings. Me and Stefan look at dad.

"I didn't tell Cassandra that I was coming today, I told her that I will be coming next week" he says in a whisper.

"You go and hide, let's surprise mom" Stefan says in a whisper.

Dad gives him a thumbs up and walks towards his room while Stefan hides his suitcase in living room's cupboard and walks towards the door.
